[ugh, I gotta go! I have a softball tournament that I have to wake up /really/ early for, but I'll post one more time after this before I go! ^_^]
Clovepetal applied the cobwebs while listening to the two speak, but did hesitate a bit when the mention of a snake hole in the nursery was an apparent danger. She noticed the young kit peeking up at her and offered a nervous smile.
"Snake hole, you say?" she asked, addressing Treasurehunt. "Well, that certainly is a problem. Erm, Treasurehunt, could I possibly pull you off to the side to speak for a moment?" the medicine cat asked calmly.

[Snake hole, it was their idea ^.^]
She smiled of how brave Swirlkit was when the common herbs and stuff were being applied to her. Treasurehunt noticed how quiet Cottonkit was, this must still be new to him. At the mention of her own name she got up nodding,''Yes, of course.'' In response she padded a few tail lengths away from the group and waited for Clovepetal to speak,''Yes?'' She whispered.

Since Clovepetal had taken over with the healing and snatched the herbs from her, Forestbreak listened inquisitively. A snake hole? That was certainly not good. And in the nursery?
"We should alert Darkstar of this right away. We don't want any more injured kits, do we, Clovepetal?" She glanced at the russet medicine cat, who had pulled Treasurehunt off to the side, so in the meantime, she grabbed some moss in her jaws and dunked it into a puddle of cool water. Setting the dripping moss down in front of the injured kit, she mewed, "Drink this."

Swirlkit obeyed, ducking her head down to lap at the wet moss. It tasted fresh, and cool on her tongue. It washed down her throat with a satisfying feel. She sat back up. "Thanks," she mewed, feeling a little better after hydrating herself.
So it was a snake they were talking about here, then. "What's a snake?" She had never even heard of such a creature- but whatever it was seemed to frighten the medicine cats. Swirlkit wanted to see the snakehole right now, to make sure that no snake was there. But she knew the medicine cats would keep her away from the hole until it was taken care of.

Cottonkit sat quietly as the medicine cats helped Swirlkit. He sure hopes he hadn't been the reason Swirlkit had ended up in that hole. Then that would mean he had caused a kitten to get hurt. Of course, he had no intention of doing so. When they brought up the fact that the hole could have belonged to a snake, Cottonkit's eyes widened. "Snake?" He had only ever once seen a snake, when he was with Dogkit and they had seen one laying under a rock. Surely it wasn't the same snake that he had seen..it couldn't be.

Swirlkit shook her head at Cottonkit, mostly in confusion. "I'm not sure. Snowflare saw one out in clan territory. She told me about it, and I could smell the familiar 'snake' scent on her fur. Then you, Cottonkit. And then this snakehole. In the nursery.." Her mew trailed off when none of it really clicked together.
She didn't want to drag her mother into this mess, but it was for her own safety. They needed to figure out how many snakes exactly have decided to appear to the FireClan cats.

The medicine cat purred throatily. "You're very welcome, child. Do you need any more water, or is that enough?" She glanced at the moss, her head tipped slightly to one side.
"Well." Forestbreak thought for a moment. "A snake? A snake is kind of like a cat, except in place of its fur, it has slimy scales- kind of like a fish." She actually had no idea whether snakes were slimy or not, but she figured it was a good bet they were; the wretched things. "And it doesn't have any legs. And when it bites you, you get bad stuff in your blood that makes you sick." Her explanation would probably give the kit nightmares of demonic legless slimy cats, but it was good enough.

Swirlkit thought about that for a moment, swallowing and detecting some dryness still in the back of her throat. Sighing, she figured more water wouldn't hurt. "More, I suppose," she said politely, looking at the moss she had drank from.
So, slimy creatures without legs, huh? "Have you ever seen one? Or at least had to work with a snake-bite?" The subject was fascinating. It would help her be aware of any snakes and would also help her follow the clues to uncover if the snake would harm any cats of her clan. Especially newborn kits that a 'snake' might eat for a meal.

Forestbreak complied, dipping the moss into more water and setting it in front of the kit. When he asked her about seeing a snake or treating a bite, she nodded. "Oh, I've done both! When I was still new to being a medicine cat, I was collecting herbs in the territory when I noticed an older tom named Hawkbreeze in a tussle with a snake. He was bitten, and it was lucky I was there with herbs on me, or it might have been very serious."
"Anyway," she continued, "I'll take a look at this snake hole, I think. Adders are really the only kind you have to worry about around here. The others normally wouldn't hurt a fly. Actually, they probably would, but they wouldn't hurt a cat." She smiled reassuringly.

''Oh good. That would be great.'' Treasurehunt replied,''Hawkbreeze got bit? I'm surprised. Glad he is ok though.'' Swirlkit was getting better.

Cottonkit nodded, thinking back to the snake he had seen before. It was brightly colored, and its eyes were narrow. A collar like thing surrounded its head, and its tail was very thin. He wondered if that was an adder. "Well, I've seen a snake before, though i'm not sure if it was an adder." Cottonkit meowed, his eyes clouded with thought.

[SORRYSORRYSORRY! I could go into a big thing about how we lost every game and we were at the park for 12 hours, but that's G-board stuff. Needless to say, I totally was not even thinking about the thread. Sorry! ^//.//^"]
"I highly doubt Darkstar and Squirrelpelt will care enough to get rid of a snake," Clovepetal told the warrior in a low whisper. She had pulled Treasurehunt off to the side because she didn't want the kits to think that she was bad-mouthing their camp's authority. Well, that was a part of it. Really, she just didn't want them to know how cruel their own leader and deputy are.
"We need to alert the queens and warriors immediately," she began speaking in her normal voice again. "Forestbreak, I'm sure we could concoct a mixture that could lure the snake out from it's den, right?" the russet she-cat asked her companion. "And then we can get some warriors to get rid of it!"
"And actually, snakes aren't slimy. They just look like they are," Clovepetal told the kits with a grin.

[It's okay! Welcome back (:] She listened and knew Clovepetal almost spoke the truth. Sad to even think that.. The medicine cats were the experts at getting rid of stuff, of course she could see Darkstar trample the snake(s) with the stomp of her paw if she wanted. Darkstar held power and bravery. Also she was feirce and knew better than anyone else. ''Glad you both are here than. You know best.'' Treasurehunt whispered back with a nod from her head. When Clovepetal spoke about the snake, Treasurehunt spoke again,''What if there's more than one snake that appears. I know you said many warriors can get rid of it but it may be dangerous if the kits are inside. Maybe I'm worrying too much.Would the nursery be evacuated?''
''Looks like you were saved in the nick of time Swirlkit. Forestbreak, Clovepetal thanks for tending to her wounds.'' Treasurehunt lifted her paw to pull of a herb from her paw. Must of stuck to her when she walked in.

Swirlkit raised her head from drinking. She liked these cats. They were nice to her, and understood her need for attention. "Thanks, again," she mewed thankfully. "I really appreciate this." She sat up and curled her soft tail around her paws. It comforted her, since her sleek fur reminded her of her mother.
"The snakehole... Don't snakes eat mice?" She asked the medicine cat. "Maybe we could stuff a mouse with some herbs of some sort." The problem for her was, she didn't know any herbs that would be dangerous. She didn't even know the regular herbs.

Cottonkit nodded at Swirlkit's idea. "Ya, we should so do that! But wait..what if there's more than one snake? Then we'd have to make two mice, or the other snake might outsmart us and not take the bait." He thought outload, listing the problems. And what if the snake smelled the herbs ahead of time and didn't eat the mouse, that would cause problems too.
