There was one cat Brackenpaw hadn't talked to since he was made an apprentice and that was Hummingpaw. They had both been made apprentices during the same ceremony and he wanted to chat with he again. She was his best friend and all. Trotting over to the sunning rock he liked to lay on he sat down and waited for the pretty young apprentice to appear.

Hummingpaw awoke from yet another nap. It was her first nap since becoming an apprentice. She was so happy to rest, to close her eyes and dream. Hummingpaw wiped the sleep from her green eyes with her paws to see her best friend, Brackenpaw, looking around. But who was he looking for? Surely, or most likely, possibly, whatever, he was looking for her. They hadn't spoken a word to each other since their ceremony, which was weird, because as kits, they had spent every waking moment with each other. It was definitely different not to speak with him a lot, and what was even more strange was that she hasn't even seen him once since they became apprentices. Must be too much training getting in the way... With her signature grin, Hummingpaw padded towards her best friend, mewing, "Hey, Bracken. Where've you been?"

Brackenpaw smirked handsomely as his friend approached, "Oh you know, chasing Badgers," He joked, amber eyes sparkling. "And you?"
He stood up and stood tall over her tinier figure, his sleek pelted muscles already developing and rippling with every step, he was becoming quite a large cat.
(Might reply later, doing the art stuff)

Hummingpaw swatted with a paw at his head, hissing playfully as she realized he was sizing up to her, trying to look tall against her. "I get it, I'm tiny, Brackenpaw, you don't have to rub it in my face," Hummingpaw mewed with a smirk, "And in answer to your question, I've been doing great. Lots of training and things like that. Though I haven't seen any badgers, thankfully." Her smirk grew as she said her tease, swatting at his head again. "Do you like your mentor, buddy? Is that Shredthorn treating you well? He better be...I'll tear him to shreds if he messes with my best friend," she purred, her grin growing more genuine and less playful. [/blockquote]

He laughed deeply, it seemed to vibrate out from some inner source. "Yeah he's cool," he mewed, giving her a somewhat flirtatious side glance. "What about your mentor, I forget who they are though." (Lazy I'm so tired)

Strangely enough, the thought of her mentor gave her a little tingle in her toes. Hummingpaw shook her head, ignoring it, and cleared her thoughts. She thought for a second on what to say and said with a far off glance, "He's.....nice. He's a very good teacher. You'd like him, actually, Bracken. He kind of reminds me of you...." Hummingpaw playfully shoved him, "But he isn't as much of a goofball. He's much more...mature." Hummingpaw stuck her tongue out at him with a light, cheery laugh, though it sounded more grown up since she was growing to be older as well as her best friend. [/blockquote]

"Oh really?" He purred, shoving her back but more gently making sure he didn't hurt her. "Seems like you like this Flintclaw," he smiled, although he could feel something weird welling up inside his chest. He couldn't exactly tell what it was.
He looked around, wondering if there was something, Interesting to do. "Got any ideas of what we could, do?" He asked, looking back down into her green eyes.

Hummingpaw went rigid with fear for a split second. Was she really falling for her mentor? No, she couldn't be....she wouldn't. As a kit, she promised she would focus on being the greatest warrior she could be, not on falling for a tom. "Uh, how about no?" Hummingpaw played off his comment with a weak, shaky, fake laugh, "That's such a cleche. I don't do cleches." She stuck her tongue out at him again. Then, with a purr, she mewed quietly in his ear, her face close to his, "Why don't we go out of camp and do something?" Night had just fallen and the fireflies would be out soon. She wanted to show him the goodness in the outside world. She pulls back with a wide smile, green eyes glimmering.

Well, he knew that was against the code, apprentices weren't suppose to go out without mentors. But putting on his dangerous not following the rules cloak he nodded and mewed, "Sure anything for my best friend," His amber eyes full of new sparkling mischief. "Ready?"

Shocked that her bet friend agreed to their night voyage, she smiled an purred, "Lets go!" Slipping out through the enterance of the den, Hummingpaw hoped that Brackenpaw was following close behind her as she lurked through camp in the night. The fireflies started to light up, but there was a different place, a special place, that she wanted to show him with even more light then the camp at night. "Come on!" she whispered harshly with a grin. Taking off through the enterance of camp, she sprinted through the forest, hoping that Brackenpaw was still following as she tore past the trees, the moonlight touching her brown fur. [/blockquote]

She was fast, he was more built for strength then speed and attempted to keep up as she sprinted off. "Woah! Slow down!" He yowled, his glowing amber eyes seeming to be like their own fireflies. The moonlight licked at his pelt but it was nowhere near as warm as the sun. "Hummingpaw! Slow down!"

Hummingpaw laughed as she turned on him, green eyes shining in the moonlight. "Okay, we're close, you can stop losing...I mean running...now." She purred and touched her black tail tip to his nose with a small laugh once more. Then, she sauntered off towards a nearby bush and then, purring, she moved the leaves aside to show a clearing with the brightest, biggest, most beautiful lightning bugs in the forest. They swarmed and danced with each other in the sky, twirling around the clearing as if they were listening to the most elegant of music. Her heart hurt for she wished she could dance, but it only hurt for a minute. Hummingpaw turne towards her friend, purring and gesturing towards the serene clearing, "Bracken, welcome to my world." His eyes grew wide as he entered the little space, the fireflies shining off his eyes like silver pelt. "It's so buetiful." He mewed, not taking his eyes of the glimmering insects. Sure the forest with almost silent besides the crickets singing their songs around them but besides that it was. Sitting down in the grass patch he watched them, dazzled by their dancing. Looking up he padded the place next to him with his paw and ushered Hummingpaw to sit down, adding yet another handsome glance. "Come on, I won't bite."

Hummingpaw rolled her eyes and padded up beside him with a grin. "So..." She mewed awkwardly, looking over at him with gleaming green eyes. Her eyes reflected the many fireflies that danced around them. Noticing how weird she must look just gazing at him and around him, she looked down at her brown paws, embarrassed. They both seemed to glow as fireflies danced around their heads. One of them landed on her tail and she purred, unmoving and not making a sound. She stated at the quaint little creature. How lucky the insect was to be special, to be lived by everyone. She didn't know one cat that hated fireflies...it didn't make sense to. Hummingpaw flicked her tail slowly towards her nose, which the firefly eventually flew to and landed one. She greeted the lightning bug with a sneeze, and then laughed happily as the firefly went and joined the others. [/blockquote]

Brackenpaw laughed and rapped his tail around Hummingpaw, up to his usual mischief. The fireflies continued to buzz around their heads and sometimes even landed on his ears. He just flicked them off, it wasn't that he wanted to it just tickled too much, a reflex. Sighing he looked over into Hummingpaw's eyes, watching the fireflie's lights glimmer and dance off them. "Magnificent creatures are they not?" He asked, keeping his handsome smile and tail wrapped around her, but now his eyes were blazing as well.
