The sun was just starting to rise as Drought arrived back at his tree. The battle against TreeClan had been draining, but he had led DeathClan to victory. He'd captured a kitten and forced the tree-dwellers to submit. Although the black-and-white tom hadn't had to kill a leader this time around, he'd still gotten his share of the action. Fresh wounds were scattered across the DeathClanner's pelt. He winced as he sat down on a root and began to lap at them carefully. It wouldn't do to have one of these cuts infected; he needed to stay healthy in order to keep moving on with his plan.
As the American Shorthair continued cleaning his injuries and grooming the blood stains out of his pelt, he realized that he was not alone. Drought raised his muzzle with a twitch of one ear. "Strange time to come for a visit."

He'd been dying to meet Drought for as long as he could remember. While the patched leader had something of an intimidating aura, Bell's curiosity had so far outweighed his caution in this matter. It didn't happen often, but the risks he took in cases like these always seemed to pay off. His head whipped back and forth quickly, attempting to catch a glimpse at his sides, nervous that his fur would be spiking all over the place like an un-groomed kit's. That was the worst thing that could happen. Well, perhaps not. He'd be lucky if that's all he made a mistake on. It was annoying how the ginger tom could go from so comfortable and confident when manipulating others, but the magnitude of Drought's presence sent him shivering. Satisfied, or at least able to agree to, his appearance, Bell padded forward up to Drought's tree. "Drought?" he called, not timidly, but with a quietness to his tone. "Am I interrupting anything of importance?"

An unfamiliar youngling was padding toward him. Sighing and straightening up, the leader fixed his amber gaze on Bell. He definitely hadn't been expecting a visitor at a time like this. Then again, it wasn't as if he had to stop what he was doing in order to talk with this cat.
At least the ginger-and-white tom was being respectful about this, as compared to the she-cat named Blasphemy who had decided to climb right into the branches of his tree without so much as asking permission beforehand. "No, you're not interrupting anything. I was just getting the blood off my pelt," Drought meowed to Bell. He raised a paw to lap at it and draw it over his forehead and ears before continuing.
"The invasion of TreeClan was a success, though I doubt that's what you're here to talk about. What's your name?"

Bell almost sighed in relief as the reassurance, though contained himself. Melting in gratitude all over his leader was not only irritatingly humiliating for him, it would undoubtedly peeve Drought too. "I'm glad, though I'll apologize for invading your privacy nonetheless." he finally managed. Taking a seat a distance from Drought, Bell curled his tail around his paws and straightened his back formally. "Ah, no." For a moment he wondered if Drought would have preferred he came to talk about their victory. "I tend not to talk about battles I played no part in winning, it tends to kill humility, or at least the appearance of it to others," he chuckled quickly before falling silent again. "B-Bell," he replied automatically to the straight-forward question, cursing himself for the slight stutter. His name was always interpreted as feminine, which was annoying, though beneficial in its own way. "My name is Bell. I have a request, Drought. Or perhaps, more so a question."

| Sorry for the wait~ |
The leader nodded slowly as he listened. It was rare to find a cat in DeathClan with a single shred of humility, but it was not unheard of. Drought personally didn't care what the members of the pseudo-Clan did, as long as they stayed in line and fought hard during invasions.
"Nice name, but I'm afraid it doesn't ring a bell," the black-and-white cat commented with a smirk. Indeed, he'd never heard of the younger tom before. A bit of a shame, really. I could grow to enjoy having Bell around.
Drought tilted his head slightly to one side as he watched the youngling with a hint of curiosity. "Well, I'm all ears," he stated simply. It wasn't as if he was going anywhere soon.

Bell grinned, tipping his head to the side as he studied Drought. "Well I can't find fault with that logic," he chuckled, tail whisking back and forth with amusement. He remained respectfully silent as Drought turned away, though his eyes narrowed with slight interest as the tom lapped at his wounds. It irritated him to see his leader injured, when anything he could do to help would only seem pitying.
A smile bit at his mouth at Drought's words, though he fought it back. 'Seem like' was not the same guarantee that ' are', and he had yet to do anything to prove his loyalty. It was a start though, and more than that, he had something to do. Bell could do anything, once given a task to work on. Curving his head in a shallow nod, Bell stood. "Consider it done. I'll leave you in peace now. You have my thanks, Drought, I will take my leave now."Considering the conversation to be more or less over, the tom began to pad away out of the den. A slight grin flickered across the scarred leader's face. "It would be horribly dull if I had no sense of humor," he purred. Upon noticing that a wound on his flank was still bleeding, Drought twisted around to lap at it while he listened to Bell.
It was an interesting request, indeed. At least he's blunt about it. I like that. "I don't hand out trust for free, but you seem to be a loyal cat," the American Shorthair meowed. "Tell you what. Lyric, the she-cat in charge of looking after the hostages, has asked me to send someone to aid in feeding the Clan kittens. She's having a difficult time with trying to do everything on her own. If you could spare some fresh-kill for her, that would be quite helpful."

The leader watched Bell leave silently. He's better than a lot of other cats... I expect that I'll be seeing more of him at some point. If he stays alive for long enough to reach adulthood, perhaps he'll even become an Elite in the future.
Post-battle exhaustion was starting to wear at Drought's mind. He stood with a wince and made his way down into the earthy den, then settled in his nest to resume cleaning his wounds.
I need loyal cats at a time like this. The was has only just begun.
