Tanglepelt walked into the Elders' Den, a fish in her jaws. She paused at the entrance, dropping the fish to call out to Maplefrost. "Maplefrost? You in there?"

Maplefrost grinned from his nest when he heard his old friend's voice. "Right here. Is that fish I smell?" he purred.

Tanglepelt heard Maplefrost answer, grabbing the prey before entering. She nodded. "Yes. I remembered you had a liking for fish." She dropped it near him, smiling. "It's been a while."

"You remembered correctly. Thanks." He happily tore into the fish, making sure to leave some in case Tanglepelt was hungry.
"What have you been up to since I saw you last?"

The ginger tabby just gave her old friend a curt nod before settling down beside his nest. She noticed that he left some left over and began to munch on it silently. "Nothing, really. I have just been hiding out in the warriors' den. I'm afraid I'm growing lazier everyday."

Finishing his share of the fish, the elder straightened up and licked his lips. "Have you thought about retiring soon? After all, I'm not much older than you," Maplefrost commented. He was excited at the prospect of having a new denmate... but would Tanglepelt want to leave her warrior life behind?

Tanglepelt had a feeling that the talk about her eldership would be brought up. When they were both younger, that was really all Maplefrost and herself had talked about. She gave a small shrug. "I think I am ready for it. I don't do much, anyway. It would be better for me here than in the warriors' den."

"It would be great to have you around more often," Maplefrost admitted. "Windflurry and Redstorm tend to be pretty quiet. Besides, it's not like this den gets a lot of traffic..."

"I imagine so. I haven't seen Redstorm since I took him through the territory. He seemed a little off." Concern was in her voice as she spoke of her former mentor. "I hope he's alright?"

The Maine Coon had nearly forgotten that Redstorm had mentored Tanglepelt. "He is getting old. I don't think his vision's what it used to be," sighed Maplefrost. He supposed that he was lucky to still have one eye.

"I thought something along those lines. He almost seemed to be very dependent on following where I was." She sighed.

"It was the same way when we went to the elder meeting together. Speaking of that... I saw Hawkbreeze there." He frowned and flattened his ears slightly as he thought about the FireClan tabby.

Tanglepelt stiffened at Hawkbreeze's name. "... Really. What happened?" She was almost waiting for him to describe a fight.

"We didn't talk. I stayed on one side of the clearing, and he was on the other. Got into some pretty intense staredowns... but I noticed that he'd gone blind in one eye, too. If I didn't know better, I'd say CloudClan themselves had decided to even the score." The corner of Maplefrost's mouth curled into a small smile.

Tanglepelt gave a small sniff. "Serves him right." Her voice held a great amount of venom towards the thought of the tom who helped make Emberstorm. The tabby she-cat gave a small snort at her thoughts.
