Shiverpaw's ears flattened against his head. He knew full well that he stuttered! His jaw snapped shut and he lowered his head.

Meltingpaw shuffled to the side, ears flat, like she was expecting someone to to leap at her. She sheathed and unsheathed her claws, although it was hare to notice because of her fur.

And that something did leap at her. A gray blur of fur leapt from a pile of moss and tackled into Meltingpaw.

Pinned to the ground, Meltingpaw looked up. "Owlpaw!" She mewed. She remembered Owlpaw from her kit hood but hadn't really ran into him since. "Isn't it like you to tackle me?" She murmered with a hint of humor in her voice.

Shiverpaw bit his lip and curled up in a corner.

Meltingpaw caught Shiverpaw's action. She slipped from under Owlpaw and said "excuse me" as she padded toward Shiverpaw. "What's wrong?" She whispered when she was at his side.

Owlpaw hardly had time to react to Meltingpaw slipping out from under him. He also didn't notice Shiverpaw cowering in the corner, and like usual he was as clueless as a kit that found catnip. "What?" He mewed at the timid apprentice and Meltingpaw. "Did I scare you?" He asked with a mischievous glint in his eye.

"I mi-might sound l-like a kit for this, but I d-don't like cats mentioning my s-st-stutter.." he whispered lowly. "other cats have before..."

Meltingpaw tilted her head. "That's okay, it's like I don't like it when cats mention my droopy tail," she insisted. "It's nothing to be ashamed about." She honestly thought Shiverpaw's stutter was cute, but if he doesn't like talking about it then she was alright with that.

The small apprentice scowled at them. "It's nearly impossible, not even a bear in leaf are could sleep in this clamor." He narrowed his eyes, a slight bit of panic washing over him as he realized he was severely outnumbered. He didn't back down though, that'd be weak. The white tom shook his head and sat up, "This world isn't gonna spare you for your faults. In fact, they'll exploit it and make fun of you for it. If I were you, I'd fix it." He growled out.

Meltingpaw looked still Darkpaw. "Oh stop you're complaining. If you're so tired maybe you should find somewhere else to sleep," she scolded. "And while you 're at it learn to cool off for once."

Shiverpaw's eyes narrowed. "I'd stop stuttering if I c-could. It's n-n-not my fault I t-talk like a kit learnin' t-to speak... A-and any righteous cat would a-accept me for w-w-who I am."

The tom scoffed and flexed his paws, "There are no truly righteous cats, or any creature. In this world, it's a matter of survival, people only keep you around for their convenience. They'll throw you away eventually, get replaced." He growled, a flash of sadness going over his eyes. He shook it off quickly and glared at the droopy tailed apprentice, "If you haven't noticed, this is a community sleeping den, not your personal toy box you naive little kit." He spat.

"Yes, there a-are righteous cats. Y-you're mislead. And go sleep, ya o-old grouch. This is t-the apprentice den, a-and some c-cats do more than s-s-sleep here."

"My," Meltingpaw said as she approached the cat, "I see you aren't too tired to run you're sharp tongue." She forced her fur to lie flat on her back. "And I'll like to assure you little mouse-brained head that I am plenty righteous," She hissed.
