Shiverpaw nodded at his new friend. She was right!

The white tom got to his paws, matching Meltingpaw's stance. He bared his teeth, "Says the cat threatening a younger apprentice. And not only that, but disrupting the peace of the apprentice den. I'd like to see you try." He growled, his voice low and his shoulders tense in case this cat did decide to take him on. This was his first fight actually, well, the first physical one.

Meltingpaw only rolled her eyes and turned her back. She could think of a lot if things about this cat that ticked her off but she forced her fur to lie flat on her shoulders once again and sat next to Shiverpaw. "You where the one disrupting peace by bothering us in the first place," she mewed as she drew her paw over her normal ear. Meltingpaw realized that Darkpaw was in an attack stance and prepared to jump. Did he think that she was going to attack her own den mate? That would cause chaos in the mostly quiet den.

Shiverpaw walked over and towered over the much smaller apprentice. "You're lucky I ain't a mean c-cat," he hissed, "or you'd be on the floor, beggin' f-for your life. But I-I'm nice. Don't mean we can't be enemies, though. Y-You're a bit too cranky. A-and since you're acting like a warrior, why don't you go sleep in the warrior den, instead o' me." He turned back to his friend. "An' I t-t-think you an' I are half-brother an' sister!"

He scowled, lashing his tail. He didn't want to fight, not really. He was only playing the part, a facade of sorts. He narrowed his eyes and shook his head, "Whatever, it was you who started hollering like a pair of crows. And it's not like I'm being unreasonable. How would you like it if you were sleeping and some stranger started chattering away at the top of their lungs? You'd want to skin 'em alive. You're too biased, you take one look at a cat who's different and judge them immediately. Yeah I'm cranky, but I'm not the one using their sizes to intimidate the other. You aren't part of my family, blood doesn't matter."

"I'm not using my size to intimidate you, sir. It's y-y-your attitude that makes you weak. It's what's in-in," he took a breath and tried again, "inside that counts. And w-when cats come in here and m-make noise I get up an' p-play with them."

"Exactly!" Meltingpaw tuned in. "When I hear Shiverpaw snoring so loud he could scare prey from here to Fireclan territory, I don't yell at him like you do," she mewed. "I just do what you should do and go somewhere else."

Shiverpaw nodded solemnly. This cat shouldn't overreact about such a tiny thing. It was only the apprentice den, and it wasn't like it was the only place to sleep.
