He gently tapped his paws against the ground, in time with a certain trail of raindrops. It was wet, and cold, and he rested against the nursery wall, tail flicking at the brambles here and there. He liked the rain for the most part. The air was fresh and smelled lovely, but mud and drops of water on the tips of his whiskers weren't things he looked forward to. It'd been raining most of the morning, and a light fog had fallen over camp. He liked the fog, too. That was nice. He wondered what fog would taste like, should be be able to taste it. Probably light and fluffy, and it would taste like the smell of rain and fresh air. He snorted softly and flicked his tail a little more, bemused by his own innocent thoughts. Pawsteps were heard behind him, and he turned his head, ears pricking up. He wondered if he'd be having company.

Lightkit's soft pelt was puffed out slightly, to help shelf him from the cold, as he padded around to keep his paws warm. I shouldn't be reduced to walk in circles for heat, she growled, sticking his nose into the hair indignantly, stupid weather. He stopped his pacing, fed up with the pointless act as he looked for something else to occupy his time. Huh? he blinked as he spotted another kit, one he hadn't met before. Though, its not like he's met that many other kits. Knowing that there was nothing better to do, the small tom approached the other kit, "Hey, I'm Lightkit," he introduced, holding his head high in pride as he announced his name.

I was cold and rather bitter about it if I were to be truthful. Whatever unlucky genes I had been given were a curse. Short fur decorated my body, not leaving much protection against the wind and rain. I shivered angrily alone in a corner, watching the rain drip and drop, splattering only a few whiskers lengths in front of my paws. I grimaced as wet splashes of iciness tingled on my toes. A little shuffled backwards only equaled my back pressed against the wall. This meant relocation because I was not going to stand for any centimeter's worth of fur getting wetter than it already was.
My eyes caught sight of two other cats huddled within their own grouping. I paused, cautiously staring them down. This could mean utter rejection or a drier spot to sit. I'd take my chances. Straightening my shoulders, I headed towards them. I tried to hide the shivers that wriggled down my spine, keeping a calm expression as rain drops pitter pattered across the top of my coat. I gave a reassuring smile as I neared them. It definitely wasn't any more dry, but I couldn't leave now. "Hello."

"Spiderkit," he answered, bobbing his head a little and turning curiously to face the two that had neared him. "Morning to you too," Spiderkit chirped quietly to the second to come near. "Enjoying the weather?" He purred, sitting up and stretching out his forepaws, accidentally stooping one into a puddle. "No.. Ew.." he whispered, stepping back a little and shaking his paw almost dejectedly.

"Spiderkit... cool name," he muttered, nodding in approval. "Oh, and to answer you question; no, I am certainly not enjoying the weather," Lightkit stated bluntly, "it's getting way too muddy around here," he grimaced. He hated mud, with a burning passion. It was all icky, and gross, and it got all over your nice clean paws, and squished between your claws, and eww, the pale golden tabby shivered just thinking about it.
It was then he seemed to suddenly notice that he had not one- but two new companions. He tried not to jump at the realization, instead addressing the seemingly younger kit, "You look slightly familiar," he mewled, not exactly lying since he had probably seen the other kit wandering the nursery at some point in time, "what your name?"

"I think spiders are cool, no matter what anyone else says," he chuckled confidently. "Understandable," he snorted softly, placing his paw back on the ground and whining quietly. "I love the rain and the sights, though. Makes me wish it would rain and not leave mud." he nodded, sighing softly. He rued the thought that one day he'd be an apprentice, having to go out and fight and hunt in the rainy weather. He supposed he'd enjoy his time as a kit while he could.

I plopped down, hopping it wasn't too blunt of an introduction. I smiled slightly and quirked my head to the side as I regarded the both of them. I quietly listened, not much of a talker was I? I gave a bemused grin at the both of them before responding. "The weather is less than... satisfactory," I murmured, pausing to find the right word. Being around them proved to be warmer so, maybe coming over here wasn't a mistake.
I looked over at Lightkit, surprised by his statement. I was quite positive I'd never met him. Maybe I looked similar to my mother? The comforting thought was nice to try and accept. "Ah, I'm Freezekit." Saying my name sounded silly to even me. I didn't like the way it sounded. Wouldn't have the prefix "Frozen" made more sense? I disregarded my self conscious thoughts to focus back on our conversation. I let out a small giggle as Spiderkit's paw fell into the mucky puddle. "Nice to meet you both." My smile curved into that of a friendly one as I blinked at the kittens.

He tilted his head slightly "Odd name. I'm sure it'll have something cool tacked on the end by the time you're a warrior, though." Spiderkit remarked, straying only into positives. He had quite a kind nature, even if his words didn't always go through like he wanted them to. At least he meant well. "I wish everything was frozen; I want to see snow."

"Odd, huh? You're not wrong there," I meowed, laughing as I spoke. It stung a little to know that I wasn't the only finding my factors a bit strange, but his notion that something interesting could be added on was developing thoughts in my brain. Freezeclaw? Freeze... nothing sounded right, but I knew Dustpetal would find something suitable or at least not totally ridiculous.
I looked over at Spiderkit curiously. Snow? Wasn't that basically rain? I poked at paw at a puddle, the surface rippling at contact. I pulled back with a frown. "What even is snow?" My thoughts spewed a loud as I looked at the rain that dripped in front of me. "If it's as bad as the mucky stuff, get me away from it."

"Odd isn't necessarily bad," he said softly. He wondered if his name coubted as odd. Too many kits hated spiders, thought they were horrible among other things.
"I don't really know whatsnow is either," he admitted, laughing a little. "My mother just says its cold and white and soft and hard," he remarked. The thought of something like that intrigued him.

"I always thought that snow was kind of like feathers made out of water," Lightkit added into the conversation. The thought made sense to him. It was soft and fluffy like feathers, but when it was touched it broke apart, like a white crystal dewdrop. "It's snowmelt that interesting to me though-- how can something as pure as snow turn into something so mushy and gross?" he asked rhetorically, not really expecting an answer. He shivered a bit as remembered falling into a patched of snowmelt once; he swore he almost froze to death.

"That's a positive view on it." I gave Spiderkit a kind smile. My mind was hassled away from the thoughts on my name and onto the mystery of snow. "Soft... and hard? At the same time? It's sounds amazing!" I piped up excitedly, tail waving as I popped up to my paws with enthusiasm. I was desperately wanted it to snow now.
"Feathers made of water sounds pretty," I murmured underneath my breath as the possible ideas of what it could look like popped into my mind. "Maybe it melts and gets yucky because it gets sad that the weather isn't cold."

"It does sound pretty amazing!" he agreed, looking out to the foggy camp clearing. "You've seen snow before, Lightkit?" Spiderkit whined, kind of jealous.

"Yeah, when I was younger. It was just starting to melt, though," Lightkit said. I guess they're a bit younger than me, aren't they? he almost grimaced at the fact that he hadn't realized this. I wonder if they realize I'm older than them? Probably not, he thought dejectedly, knowing his small frame was deceiving.

I huffed at Lightkit. "S'not fair you were around before us!" I whined dejectedly, kicking a foot out to only get it dipped in some mucky water. I giggled a bit, mood lightening. "Well that just means you have to show us the snow next time it comes! You're our snow expert!" I said, giving an encouraging smile to the tomcat.
