It was raining. The sound was overpowering, and Dustpaw flattened his ears at the pounding against his head. He saw water gush past him, swallowing up the TreeClan camp within seconds. Familiar faces floated by, eyes dull and mouths left open in astonishment. He leaped back in alarm, a lump stuck in his throat and preventing his screech of terror. He looked up at the overcast skies, rain streaming down his face like teardrops. Was CloudClan crying?
Then, water bit his nose. The tabby shivered, and glanced around. TreeClan was gone, but it was still pitch black in the forest. He could still hear the roaring of water. Then, another droplet tapped his nose. And then another. And another and another and another and-
Dustpaw's eyes opened slowly, adjusting to the apprentices den. He was awake, but then why did he still hear the flood? Its raining, He reassured himself, the soft thudding of the weather above his head softer than in his dream. Almost relaxing, as he somewhat enjoyed this kind of weather. He was safe here. It had only been a nightmare. Every cat got them from time to time.
Splosh! another raindrop hit his nose. He snorted, wiggling his whiskers and lashing his tail. The den was leaking. That was just great. Especially since it was leaking in his nest. He looked around the room with wide pools of firefly yellow eyes, noticing how rain trickled down in other places, too. It was obviously a bad idea to go out and get new moss, or even go fetch supplies to patch up the den. The apprentices just had to suffer through it.

The she cat's ears flicked. Her eyes opened slowly to see a raindrops falling a foot away from her nose. It was raining? Her ears flatted as she looked up to see a leak. She looked over to the nest next to her to see Dustpaw had the same problem but it was landing on his nose. Her ears flicked again as another dropped in the same place as before.
Now that she was awake, she will have a hard time going back to sleep. It was always a challenge to go back to sleep. Closing your eyes for hours on end? No way! There was so much to see and things that could happen when you are asleep. This scared the cat and also amazed her. She wanted to see the things that happen, not sleep though the adventure. She closed her eyes but nothing happened, she was still awake. She gave up and sat up. It was going to be a bit till the sun rises so she could maybe find a way to stop the leaks. She inspected the leaks for a bit, wondering what she could do.

Dustpaw heard shuffling in the nest beside him, and turned to see Rainpaw awake. It looked like she had the same problem. Flexing his claws, the tom glared at the rain dripping down into his nest as if it was an enemy. Perhaps it was, to sleeping, nightmare-dreaming apprentices. He flashed golden eyes onto Rainpaw again, actually frowning in irritation. He hated losing sleep.
"Awesome weather, right?" he grumbled slowly, eyes flicking shut for a few seconds in his sleepiness.

"Y-Ya, It the best thing ever." She mewed sarcastically, playing around with her friend. She hadn't fond anyway to fix the problem, maybe some mud? She wasn't tired so she could put her mind fully on it. She placed her paw onto the hole, it stopped but she waited for a bit. The pressure wasn't that bad, maybe she can plug it with some mud... or maybe a rock. The she roughly slid her paw to create a small wall of dirt over the hole. It stopped the rain but after a few second the rain started to leak again. This upset her to no end. Maybe she can stay up for the rest of the night? No she had training to do in the morning and her mentor would most likely not want to train a sleepy apprentice.

Dustpaw watched Rainpaw try and plug the hole. Sadly, it failed. How wonderful. But she was on the right track. The only way to get some sleep was to stop the thing preventing it-and that was the deadly and annoying rainfall above.
He tugged some of his new moss from his bedding and jabbed it into the leak quite roughly, satisfied when the moss soaked up the water rather than let it drip through. Though, maybe every hour, it would need to be wringed or at least replaced.

Sh looked over to her friend after hearing a ripping sound. He had ripped some of his moss and jammed it into the dripping hole. She didn't want to seem like she was copying but she did the same. It worked! She lied down. She gave a quiet, calming purr. She closed her eyes but like last time they opened after a few seconds. She was laying on her side with er eyes wide open. She wasn't sleepy at all.

Dustpaw tried to sleep. He truly did. But it wasn't the water this time-it was his dream. Or, to be more specific, a nightmare. He noticed Rainpaw was also awake, so he scooted his nest closer and touched her shoulder. "Can't sleep?"

"No, I cant..." She confessed. She never really fell asleep easily. Usually she just sat there till she fell asleep out of boredom. If you where to look under her fur, you would be large circles under her eyes.(If cats could get those) She rolled over to face her friend. Her tail lay still, like it was lifeless. She got into a more proper pose. She lied on her stomach and tucked her paws under her. Her tail curled around her small frame.

"Me neither, nightmares suck." he said, settled down just a few inches from touching her pelt. He shivered from the rainy cold. "Brr! The cold is my least favorite kind of weather!"

"Y-Ya, being c-cold sucks... A-A lot" She mewed, leaning onto him like when they where kits, watching the clouds. She still remembers the day they first met since it wasn't that long ago. She rested her head on the male's shoulders. She wondered hat happened in his nightmare but didn't want to bother him by asking, what happens if it was very sensitive to him and made him feel bad? She had nightmares before and that might add to the reason she sleeps so poorly. She didn't really want to think about it so she left it in her mind to think about later, she could never really let go of thoughts unless she really thought about it.

Dustpaw felt Rainpaw lean into him, and he did the same. He felt a few degrees warmer already.
Listening to her breathing and the rain overhead, Dustpaw wondered if he would be able to fall back to sleep at all. He gave Rainpaw a quick glance, the nightmare returning just briefly in his mind. What would I do if my friends died? he thought, remembering she had been one of the cats in the flood. As was Leopardfire and Fadingpaw, and a few other cats. What would they do if I died?

She notice Dustpaw glance at her, what was he thinking about? Was he thinking about is dream? Maybe she should ask about it. Maybe it will make him feel better in a way. She nudged him slightly. "H-Hey, what happened i-in your dream a-anyway?" She asked, tilting her head to the side.
She really was curios now. Was it an attack it Deathclan? Or a continuing fall from nowhere. These nightmare where the most seen in dreams but she didn't have many nightmares anymore. She just forgot them when she first wakes up. Or she fake sleeps the entire night trying to fall asleep.

Dustpaw managed a pained smile. "Ya sure?" When he noticed how curious she was, he began slowly. "I was sitting in a tree with no leaves. There was water everywhere. The flood took over TreeClan camp, and I heard screaming and dead cats floated by-all cats I knew. Then I noticed the rain, and woke up with real water on my nose. That's about it. Not the worst nightmare ever."
But still traumatizing.

"O-Oh..." She mumbled. Maybe she shouldn't have asked. She looked at the ground, why did she have to ask. Nightmares are scary to relive and she just made her friend go though it. She felt bad. She gave a friendly nuzzle to make him feel better. "L-Like you said, A-At least i-it wasn't the w-worst nightmare." She mewed, her attempt to make her friend better.

Dustpaw nodded quickly, not wanting a little dream to scare him. "Yeah. It was nothin's serious." he meowed, glancing up at the den roof with golden eyes. "How long do you think it's going to rain? Into morning?"
