Cleaning

She padded into the elders den with fresh green moss in her jaws. She looked around for elders but most were absent, except for a few that were asleep. Quietly she went and cleared the nests the that were empty and took the dirty bedding outside. After she gets rid of it she begins to put down the new moss. After that she begins to quietly work around the sleeping elders. As she finished, she decided to go and put some prey in the den for the sleeping cats to eat when they get up. She pads up to the freshkill pile and selects a rabbit and a plump vole to bring to the elders. As she sets them up in the elders den, she realizes someone is watching her. She spins around and says politely, just in case it's an elder " can I help you?"

Redpaw stood there, her own pile of moss in her jaws, staring at Nightpaw with a raised eyebrow. Help me? Do I look like an elder? She thought, setting the moss down at her paws before glancing around. "Um... did you already clean the den?" she asked politely, noticing the clean nests-besides the ones being slept in. Turning back to the currently nameless apprentice, she added, "I sure hope you left one or two for me-then my mentor won't pluck my tail out for not helping the elders."

Night paw smallowed hard, she knew it wasn't her turn to clean, but no one else was doing it so she had cleaned" sorry" she murmerd ducking her head down and starring at the ground

Redpaw purred, her eyes amused and not angered. "Don't worry, it's fine. I'm Redpaw, by the way. Thanks for doing the den." she meowed.

"I'm nightpaw" she replied and added "no problem, no cat wants to sleep in a messy den. Besides, I think I'm ocd" she joked. Redpaw seemed nice and nightpaw did need some friends

Redpaw smiled. "Well, how about we pretend I cleaned at least one nest. If you go along with it, I'll...." she paused, thinking of something to offer her. "I'll be your servant until dusk today! How about it, Nightpaw? Oh-and you get to be my friend. Sound good?"

Nightpaw let out a pur. It did sound fun" deal"she said, her eyes gleaming

Nightpaw tipped her head to the side and had an idea. "First we're going hunting, then we are going swimming. I hope you don't mind wet paws" she teased at the end. She thought that teaching redpaw to swim would be fun, and not mean because they were friends, Nightpaw did not want her first friend her age to be mad at her

Redpaw tilted her head, a bit surprised. "Swimming? Isn't that for IceClan?" she asked, but shrugged her shoulders with a smile. "Well, worth a try, right?" She was willing to give swimming a try. Especially since she could consider Nightpaw her first friend. Sure, she had met other apprentices... but things didn't really click for her. Nightpaw didn't seem so bad.

"Ok let's go then" nightpaw said enthusiastically and she trotted for the camp entrance with a happy flick of her tail. As she padded outside onto the prairie she smelled rabbit and waited for redpaw to tell her want to do. She had never hunted rabbit before" how do we catch rabbit?" She asked

Redpaw shrugged, "Beats me. I've only caught a few birds." she replied, glancing around. She also caught the scent of rabbit on her tongue. "But it can't be much of a difference, right?"

" I guess." She said, tipping her head she saw its den. " look the rabbits den. Maybe if we are lucky one of us can sneak up on it and scare it while the other covers the top of the den and kills it when it runs to hide." Nightpaw said, gesturing to the den with her tail.

Redpaw nodded. It was a pretty good idea. "Do you want to do the scaring or the catching?" she whispered, ears angled towards the den and eyes narrowed.

"probably the scarring, as i dont have much hunting practice" nightpaw teased as she shifted into position to scare the rebbit
