"Stay back!" Firebird ordered, backing up against the camp wall. Yet the badger stepped closer, teeth bared and drooling of saliva. Her eyes widened, heart pounding. CloudClan, help me! she thought, and then saw the shadow of a cat leaping towards the badger cornering her. She was about to go and help, until she saw who the cat was. Familiar fur, the scent of TreeClan... Blackthorn's father, Mintfrost.
The badger whirled around, roaring its hate. It swung a paw, slashing right through Mintfrost's stomach as he jumped as if sliding through water. Blood splattered everywhere, sinking into Firebird's ginger fur and making her pelt burn. Mintfrost howled in pain before slumping in a pile of bloody guts, gurgling and spitting in a last attempt at fighting back. The badger smashed the warrior's face in, and Firebird literally gagged. There was too much blood. Too much to see.
With a scream, she tore across the clearing-on the other side of the badger-and towards the warrior's den, calling bloody murder on the way there. "Blackthorn! Mintfrost is dead!" she sobbed, a lump in her throat nearly suffocating the she-cat. She slipped into the den, looking around with wide eyes. "Darkstar! Softpaw! Anyone!" she cried, until she saw the black shape in the corner. Cautiously, she crept forward, forgetting about the screams and other dying Clanmates in the clearing as they started to fade out. The room grew lighter, but the shape remained black. Getting a little closer, she finally realized what it was, and stumbled clumsily backwards to get away as the badger charged forward. Claws flashed forward, grabbing her throat and tearing it away. It hurt. Firebird crumpled to the ground, taking deep, raspy breaths as her eyes locked with the crimson echoes of hate that were the badger's own pair of pupils. She whimpered when it raised a paw, claws already bleeding from the recently made attack. Is this what Mintfrost experienced? she thought, before the badger swiped downwards. To anyone outside of the dream, it was the middle of the night. It was a clear sky, with many stars, and a chilly breeze just perfect in the warm temperature. Firebird was making soft screams in her sleep-maybe that of a nearly silent whistle?-which only a few warriors could have waken to. Foxclaw most likely being one of them. Words: 391 ((Finally did it!))

Foxclaw un able to sleep himself looked over at her and silently padded over to her and shook her awake softly" firebird its ok your ok nothing is wrong." His soft voice was calm and soothing. He hated seeing her scared or sad it hurt him like he was her.

Firebird jolted awake, eyes wide. She looked around quickly, a sob threatening to escape her throat. It wasn't real. The words repeated in her head, said every time she awoken from the usual nightmare. Yet, even if they were said every time, it didn't make it anymore believable. The blood... the screams... the pain... how could that not be real?
Moss-eyes frozen in horror, she stared at Foxclaw. Why was he awake? Was she the cause of it? Glancing around, she noticed a few warriors covering their ears and grumbling about sleep, which made her feel guilty. So she had woken them all up. Some considerate warrior she was. Debating whether to say sorry or not, she soon found she couldn't speak. Terror still controlled her body, and her heart still beat faster and faster. It felt like she would explode, almost like how Mintfrost did in her dream....
The TreeClan warrior was a recurring face. Though, each time he got murdered by the badger. Never did he live. Firebird hadn't known Mintfrost personally-or, not at all really-but he still haunted her nightmares. She knew it wasn't the real CloudClan spirit-it couldn't be, right? Why would a TreeClanner be in her dreams, just to scar her mind of emotions and death? Was he a raging spirit seeking revenge for her not doing more to save his life?
"S-s-sorry." she finally rasped, looking away. Her throat tightened against a wail. She had worried Foxclaw, her best friend. That's not what friends did.

He remembered coming back from patrol and hearing about it, she was so brave and strong. He wished he was more like that.
Knowing its better to empty out, he lent her his shoulder if she needed to get a good sob or two out

When he mentioned the badger, Firebird flinched. Yeah, that was an obvious sign he had nailed the dream right on the head. Looking away, she shivered when Foxclaw pressed his shoulder against her's, offering comfort, and she finally couldn't hold it in anymore. She shoved her muzzle between her paws, her body shaking with her silent crying. She wouldn't let Foxclaw see her tears, however. She didn't want to put him through any pain.
Glancing up with watery eyes after a minute((cats don't cry, so I stick to that rule. So really she just has glistening eyes)), she nodded with a stiff upper lip. "Yeah... oh, it was h-horrible, Foxclaw!" she whimpered, voice rising in the end. She knew, if she didn't stop now, she would spill everything about the dream and her fears to him. And, thinking toms weren't really interested in she-cat problems, she really didn't want to do that to him.

He spoke softly he only wanted her to be happy and for him to understand her. Poor poor cat.
" I see, is that all that's troubling you ?" He said. Resting a rain comfortingly on her shoulder. He remembered the corpse on the grass. She had good reason to be afraid.

Firebird was sniffing, trying her best not to sink back into tears. She managed a soft, barely audible mew, "... I'm afraid of badgers...."

"I happen to be afraid of heights" he said with a soft smile
"if you want I can stay here with you" he said hiding a slight blush.

Firebird didn't notice his pelt heating up, or didn't dwell on it. She just nodded just the slightest. Afraid of heights. she made the mental note in her head. Carefully, she curled back into her nest, breathing out a sigh that wasn't raspy or weak with crying. "Stay... I don't want to be alone...." A part of her wanted to talk about the dream, to get it out there and out of her head. But, like before, she didn't think toms wanted to sit and listen to rambling she-cats. And they needed their sleep for the next day, when she would be hunting and patrolling for her Clan as if the nightmare had never occurred.

There. Foxclaw had asked. And she couldn't stop herself from spilling. "No... all my d-dreams, it's in the FireClan camp. Badgers break in and start attacking everyone... I watch everyone dying. Speckheart, Aspenpaw, Lavenderpaw, Softpaw... it's so bloody and horrible, I don't know how my mind created such a scene! Am I like that?" Her bottom lip quivered as she looked to her best friend for answers. Eventaully, though, she went on. "I'm usually fighting myself, too. The screaming in the background doesn't bother me... but the badger is hideous. It sometimes corners me, or just plain tears me apart... but usually, before that, a cat jumps at it. Mintfrost... the badger always kills him, though, and then it comes after me, and every time I wake up its after dying!"

"your not like that. Your the best warrior in the clan. As long as I'm around no badger will lay a claw on you or any of our friends " he said soothingly. He may just Lt one kill aspenpaw though for speckhearts safety.

She was glad Foxclaw had told her She wasn't like that-with her mind conjuring up horrifying images. But still... Firebird looked away. Protect her? For some reason, that made her feel a little hurt. Sure, she was terrified of the creatures... but she was a warrior. And it wasn't that she was too scared to fight-nothing like that. Just an inner fear... she couldn't describe it. Foxclaw is just trying to make me feel better. she thought, giving a small nod and a smile. "No badger will harm anyone." she promised. No badger would hurt anyone in FireClan as long she was there as well.
Besides Mintfrost. He may not have been FireClan, but he still died right in front of me. That made her stiffen. Could she actually protect her Clan from such a thing?

Firebird just smiled, a little sleepy look in her eyes. "Yeah... I don't think I can sleep... how is Speckheart and Aspenpaw doing in their cuteness?" she purred.
