Jax wandered through the junkyard on tired paws, his heavy tail dragging lazily on the ground behind him. His dark green gaze traced over the various two-leg objects that had been abandoned, looking for something suitable to sleep on. This looks... comfortable...? he tried to convince himself as he approached a torn-up couch cushion. He pressed a tentative paw against it, retracting the appendage quickly when he found the cushion's surface rough and springy. Nothing about the object was appealing, from it's faded turquoise color to it's overpowering dog-stench, but the tabby figured it would have to do. You don't have time to find somewhere else to sleep anyway, he reminded himself, curling up onto the cushion with a sigh. It would be dawn in only a matter of hours, and he wanted to get some shut-eye before the light of day forced him awake. The tom tried in vain to find a comfortable position, only succeeding in keeping himself awake long enough to hear the familiar sound of pawsteps echo off the walls of junk. Now curious, Jax set one paw off the cushion to steady himself as he looked around for the source of the sound.

Breeze sorted through the junk, making some noise as she did. She was looking for something, something special that she lost. She never noticed the cat that was watching her. She was a wreck, some patches of burnt fur, a torn red collar, and a messy pelt. She spotted what she was looking for and pulled it out of the junk, a necklace of her former owner. She turned around to go home and she spotted the cat, "H-how long have you been standing there..." She meowed.

Jax's eyes were fixed curiously on the strange she-cat, taking in her disheveled appearance. Is she a rouge? he though, tipping his head to the side, but she has a collar... and rouges don't usually have collars, do they?Keeping close to the shadows, the large tom continued to observe the stranger as she shifted through the piles of junk, too shy to approach her. He leaned forward when she stopped searching, trying to get a glimpse of the object she had found. His snooping was cut short, though, when the she-cat turned to face him. Eye's widening, the dark tabby pushed himself against the wall of junk in an attempt to remain unseen-- which was probably a fairly comical sight seeing as the tom was neither young nor small enough to go unnoticed. "H-How long have you been standing there..." he heard the she-cat say. Shrinking away from her voice, the tom chanced a glance up, meeting her eyes for a moment before quickly looking down at his paws. "Awhile," he answered, scuffling his large paws a bit as he timidly looked away.

"Well, are you in deathclan? You don't seem like it." She said. She was afraid that this cat was deathclan and that he'd tell drought about her. She dropped the necklace from her jaws and lowered her head, "What am I doing here, my only friend is gone, and I don't know where she is.." She whispered to herself.

"DeathClan?" the tom tipped his head to the side. DeathClan? Well... that sounds a bit ominous, he mused in his head. He had heard of the clans before, but he was still a bit fuzzy on the names. "No, I'm no DeathClan cat," he answered finally, his curious gaze latching back onto the collar-thing as the she-cat dropped it to the ground. His ears perked as he heard the stranger whisper something, though he was too far away to make it out. Padding timidly forward, he noticed that she looked a little... afraid? Maybe. He had never been the best at reading the emotions of other. Though he was certain she wasn't happy, and the fact that she was in such a disheveled state only added to his concern. "Do... Do you need help?" Jax asked shyly, not liking to see others sad.

"Good.." Breeze meowed. She stared down at the necklace, it was dusty but yet shiny and pretty. She nodded at the cats question, "Yes.. But I only need directions.." She meowed. She looked at the necklace once more and at the cat, "Do you know where the house that burned down two moons ago is?" She asked. She wanted to see her former home and she really didn't know the directions from here.

House...? the term was familiar to Jax, though it took him a few moment to remember that it was the equivalent to a two-leg den. So she's a kittypet? ...but then why wouldn't she be with her two-legs at this time of night? he thought, pondering the idea for a few seconds before deciding to leave it alone; at least for now. The tom tried to remember if he had ever seen a two-leg den burnt down before. He hadn't been in the area for very long, but he could vaguely remember passing by an ash-scented two-leg den. He hadn't payed too much attention at the time, seeing as it had been during the day, and he had been worried about being trampled by monsters, but now that he thought about it he was sure this was the place that she-cat was talking about. "Yes, I know," Jax answered finally, flicking his tail for the she-cat to follow as he turned to face the direction of the house, "come, I'll show you"

Breeze nodded as she started to follow the cat. She held the necklace in her jaws as she walked. "What's your name anyway?" She questioned as they were walking. She loomed the thought that her house folk was still alive, but knew that they were dead.

"Jax," the tabby tom answered simply, feeling a little less tired now that he had started moving, though he still would have preferred the soft ground of the forest to the unnatural two-leg made stuff. "You?" he questioned back, slowing his lumbering pace so that it matched the she-cat's. The ground underneath eventually began to fade into smooth cement as they reached the first alley, and a harsh orange light emitted from a nearby lamppost.. It isn't too far from here, the tom thought to himself as he awaited an answer. Luckily there didn't seem to be to many monsters on the roads tonight, since they would have to cross at least one street to get there.

"Names Breeze." She meowed, careful not to mention her former kittypet name. As they came a couple blocks away, the scent of ash flooded her nose. She stared down at the necklace in her jaws, one of the only things that survived the fire besides her. "I smell the ash.." She meowed.

Jax took a quick whiff of the air, sneezing as a few wandering flecks of ash flew up his nose. "Me too," he said, shaking his head as he tried to get rid of the pesky particles. The wind's probably carrying them around, he thought, huffing a bit as an ash speck landed on a whisker. "Careful," the large tabby said as they approached a street. It was one of the large ones, where four different roads met together-- an intersection, if he was remembering correctly what his uncle had taught him. He placed a calloused paw pad against the acrid-smelling stone, waiting a few moments to see if there would be any vibrations. When there wasn't he gave the signal with his tail for the two to cross.

Breeze waited until Jax gave the signal, when he did she burst across the road, hoping Jax was behind her. As her paws hit the black cement, it felt so familer yet so dangerous. As she jumped to the sidewalk she turned to see if Jax was behind her. "Please don't let this cat get run over by a monster.." She murmered.

Jax raced across the street. He could feel the small gritty stones that had been shaken from the road over time sink into his paw pads, and he felt as though his steps hit the ground much harder than they had on the paler sidewalk. I've gone through worse, though, he reminded himself as he pushed away the annoying pricking sensation at his paws. He knew the soles of his feet were much too calloused from moons of walking to be injured so easily. Jax reached the other side of the street not long after Breeze, his large frame slowing him down more than anything. "The house it close," he stated once he had fully gained his breath, and he flicked his heavy tail in the direction of the den. Though since the wind had picked up slightly it was getting easier and easier to tell where their destination lie.

Breeze sighed with relief as Jax crossed safely. As they padded toward their destination, breeze kept thinking about memories, the fire, being alone, joining deathclan. As they reached the burnt den, breezes eyes filled with tears. She padded up to the den and sat down, "Mother.. If you can hear me give me a sign." She said, despite Jax standing behind her.

Jax padded silently alongside Breeze as they got closer and closer to the house. His eyes widened once they came upon in, wondering how he had missed the damage before. Is this what fire does? he thought with a shiver, sneaking a glance at the she-cat. He looked over the burn marks again. Did she live here? the tabby tom thought, looking back at the burnt den. He had never had a steady home himself, seeing as he grew up in a group of rouges, but he could imagine that loosing ones home would be very traumatic. "Mother... If you can hear me give me a sign," Jax heard the she-cat speak. His dark green gaze softened, realizing that she must have lost her mother to the fire that destroyed the den. The tabby let his tail rest sympathetically against Breeze's shoulder for a moment, knowing the pain the loosing a loved one, loosing a mother, caused.
