Jaguarpaw trotted into the apprentice den. It was less crowded then the nursery but it was full with young cats. Jaguarpaw had made her nest after the ceremony "Hello" she meowed gazing around

Silverpaw was new and was very shy. She did not know what the other apprentices would think of her. " Hello what is your name, my name is Silverpaw" said the gray and black striped cat.

One of the newer apprentices, newly appointed this after the most recent ceremony, was standing at the side of the nursery, standing in a straight and proper position, but was still shivering and leaning forwards a bit because of the cold. The cold wind seem to blow into the den from many angles, and so Finchpaw had decided to explore these angles, and hopefully fix the cracks that let the wind in. She didn't like it in this den, for it was much too crowded, and there was nowhere to take shelter from and observe, but it was still the den she had to live in. She knew to accept it, and not sulk so much, and maybe eventually she would become numb to all the change that always happened to her and was usually unpleasant or uncomfortable.
So, she was forcing herself to get used these living conditions, and change of lifestyle, by doing small duties again, like she did in the nursery. They were little things she did to contribute in her own silent way, that perhaps wouldn't be noticed, but they would still be small little helpful things. They were also the only ways she actually felt the faintest sort of connection to the denmates and loyalty. If she did not, then she would become completely emotionally detached from almost everything except perhaps her curiosity and urge to observe, she sensed it. So she avoided that for the sake of the denmates and the clan she was a part of, and kept herself useful. So now, she was trying to patch up the bigger cracks in the walls of the den where the wind seemed to blow in.
The supplies such as moss or anything like that were very meager now, so she mostly had to try to use dirt as a tool. It was very difficult to use effectively, but she was stubborn enough to continue this task faithfully. Finchpaw turned her head and inclined it at an angle when she saw two of the other newer apprentices beginning to converse in their normal way. She watched silently for a few moments, carefully gauging the reaction of each new apprentice, before turning her head back to focus on filling a few more cracks in the den wall, even if it was hard to find them.

Finchpaw looked at Jaguarpaw for a few moments, a cat she had never been that fond of, before looking back at the wall, busy scooping up dirt with one paw, trying to get the more hardened stuff, before carefully shoving it against the wall in a little wall like pile, her eyes intently looking downward as she did so. It would be difficult to try to get at any more cracks, however, and she thoughtfully looked around the area, trying to figure out a solution. Her gaze landed on the two apprentices again, and for a moment, they widened. The young apprentice had an idea, quite a pleasing idea.
She padded closer to the two, having not said a word, and then inclined her head at a certain angle. She then reached forward with one paw outstretched, her claws unsheathed, and reached further, then tried to poke Jagaurpaw with one claw, being slow while doing so, but she had an intended goal in mind. The apprentice then peered closer, again trying to probe with her teeth this time, searching for any fragments of moss or dead grass to use. If that didn't work, maybe a bit of fur would, if she could get a little. She wasn't being that gentle about it, but was at least would try to be careful about the procedure. She then looked away from the apprentice for a moment when she spotted some small pieces of dry plants, hard to notice, but fortunately she had been able to do so, and even a small twig was nearby as well.
Finchpaw padded a few pawsteps away, her whiskers twitching, as she carefully picked up the small strands of dead grass, and the twig, with her teeth, then moved her head gently, as not to drop the fragments. She took great care, and eventually set the small items down in a little pile where she had been trying to patch the wall a bit. The apprentice then looked back at the two apprentices, faintly remembering that one had spoke. "Ah...nmpf." She began to speak uncertainly, then suddenly made a muffled noise, bowing her head a bit. She didn't feel inclined to talk right now, not because of shyness reasons, but because it would be annoying to try to talk in a conversation now. She then peered at the two apprentices closely again, for she needed to try to find more remnants to fill the cracks with, with either plant decay, or whatever else could be located. She eyed Silverpaw this time, wondering if that one would have any plant material or moss clinging to her fur that could be used.

Finchpaw blinked when Jaguarpaw wanted to go to sleep, and just tilted her head in slight annoyance. It was unconventional, since she was still probing. "...Okay." She spoke in a plain way, yet still had things in mind. She padded closer to the apprentice when she curled up in her nest, and once again leaned down to try to pluck some grass bits out of the other apprentice's fur for her own uses. She didn't really care whether this was an annoying action or not, she was simply doing a small duty anyway.
After collecting a bit, as well as accidentally getting a few hairs, Finchpaw drew back her head, then leaned down to grab the small bits she had in a pile. Once she had grabbed them all, she then trotted back to the place where she had been patching the wall more. She gazed at the small pile that she had formed, and flinched a bit at the slight draft of cold air still coming through some cracks, when she leaned forward enough to check. So she ducked her head down again, teeth bared, ready to once again resume her duty, and felt rather unaffected by being interrupted by the other two apprentices. At least it helped finding supplies a bit more easier.

Silverpaw watched her friends slowly get more tired, as she watched she become even more tired and suddenly fell asleep.

Fnchpaw turned her head in a slightly surprised manner when one of the apprentices who was supposedly asleep, asked something. She tilted her head, pausing from her task again in order to determine the nature of the question. She wasn't really sure if it was directed at her, since she was the only awake apprentice at the moment, or at maybe the now abruptly slumbering Silverpaw. She would like to think it wasn't, for she already had enough distractions and annoyances, but maybe it was.
Her ears went back against her head a bit, and she stared at the one who had asked this question. "Me?" She asked in confused way, trying to confirm whether or not she had been addressed. If not, she could then ignore the other two apprentices, which might be best at this point. "I... someone... not really.." She meowed and stuttered as an answer, just in case, though she would prefer not to reply, because it made her feel very uncomfortable.
She ducked her head in shame, being reminded of a shameful moment. When first arriving, she had been unable to make her own nest, so one of the apprentices let her use his own. She didn't want to use it anymore, but apparently he would make another one... as much as she felt shamed and embarrassed about the whole matter, and didn't want to enclose the details at all... or maybe, it would be a correct fate for her, after all, she had been unable to complete the mandatory task, so disclosing that she couldn't might be the correct "punishment", or at least shame that she would have to endure.
