Dappled Leaves by the Nursery (o)

[Dapplepaw]

Dapplekit stood on the rock near the nursery, Green eyes looking out on the camp. Other cats were being good to each other, and generally being well together. It would be good for you to do the same.

Dapplekit hissed at her mind, No. Being alone gives me practice time and makes me useful. So stop it. The tortoriseshell shook off the thoughts of being lonely and unwanted because of her watching, and she continued. A tan she-cat padded by with a smile on her brown face, and she spotted a tabby walk into camp.

At least it was peaceful from this rock.

[Lostpaw]

Lostkit peered around the camp. it had been like this the few cold days she had been here. peer outside and duck back in, but today was different. she padded out into the clearing and scanned the camp with her bi-colored eyes. she noticed everyone was talking to someone. Lostkit felt the loneliness settle in. Everyone seemed happily chatting with each other. Scanning the camp again, she noticed she was wrong. Every cat was with someone else except a tortoiseshell she-kit whom was sitting up alone. Lostkit approached the rock she was sitting on and hoisted herself up. "excuse me, but why are you all alone?" she asked quietly.

[Dapplepaw]

Dapplekit continued watching the camp, spotting all the cats talk with each other about hunting, or perhaps marking the borders. USeful things like that, where they did something for the clan. Then someone spoke to her, "Excuse me, but why are you all alone?"

The tortoiseshell turned to the kit with two differently colored eyes, and narrowed her own blue ones, "Because I want to be," She hissed, "Not like it's any different from playing in the nursery as a kit." With that, Dapplekit turned her attention off of Lostkit and onto the camp again, feeling a twinge of bad feelings for snapping at the kit, but she shook it off. I don't need to feel bad for anyone.

[Lostpaw]

Lostkit didn't even flinch from the other kits harsh tone. instead, she turned her gaze to the camp as well, following dapplekit's example and listening instead of speaking. There were a great many interesting conversations going on "and then I sent those fireclan flea-pelts running back to their mothers" a elder boasted, telling stories to wide-eyed kits. She let out a small mrrow of amusement as she saw two apprentices play-fighting. after a while, she spoke up again "just for the record, I've never 'played' in my life" she said calmly, turning her bi-coloured eyes back to dapplekit. she was expecting to be snapped at, but she was okay with it. In fact, Lostkit was okay with a lot of odd things.

[Dapplepaw]

Dapplekit huffed, looking away. "Really?" She hissed, "Then what have you done? Sit around like I have, waiting for the day where we are useful to someone?" The tortoiseshell huffed. "At least when we're apprentices we're useful." The tortoiseshell looked towards the apprentices den. "Right now, we only exist to a few." She looked at the few apprentices play fighting. "And unless we practice like them, we're nothing."

Dapplekit turned back to Lostkit. "...What is your name?" Dapplekit was curious about this other kit, who didn't walk away when she hissed at her.

[Lostpaw]

"Lost I was, Abandoned and unloved. Found in your territory very few days ago and given shelter. Kind this clan is." she replied to dapplekit's first question. she didn't understand what it felt like to be useful... it would be nice to help out she supposed. " helping clan would be nice" she admitted. darn... she had tried so hard to speak normally earlier too, oh well. being normal was kinda boring, being Lostkit was much more fun. Practice sounded like a good idea to her too. The older cats looked like they were having fun, wrestling but learning at the same time. " the name given to me is Lostkit. What name belongs to you?" she asked curiously, her white ears perked.

[Embersong]

Emberkit watched as everyone in the camp was sharing tongues and talking to each other. She wondered if she could make any new friends today. The days were getting colder, and the nights longer. She wanted at least one new friend before new-leaf came around the corner again. She scanned the camp and spotted two cats hissing at each other, and decided to pad over to see what was going on. She propped the top of her body up on the rock, standing on her hind legs."Hi," she said, looking at the kittens. "Is something wrong?"

[Dapplepaw]

Dapplekit nodded at Lostkit, feeling sort of bad that the kit had been abandoned. Maybe for a reason... But her speech... That speech was odd to the tortoiseshell, but it was her way of existing, Dapplekit supposed. "I'm Dapplekit." She huffed. "Though I wish I was a paw, doing something more." Lostkit. Soon to be Lostpaw, and her eyes would make her unique, even as a beginning apprentice.

Dapplekit hissed, mostly to herself, when another kit propped herself onto the rock with two paws and asked what was wrong.

"Great," Dapplekit hissed, "More company! One is enough!" the tortoiseshell did not answer Emberkit's question, as Dapplekit though nothing was wrong beside from the company issue.

[Lostpaw]

" I like dapplekit's name, very suiting it is. And nice." she complimented, in her own odd way. "a paw we will both be soon. patience is a virtue granted by waiting." Lostkit said with a nod and a small tilt of her head. her ears flicked to behind her. someone else was climbing the rock...Lostkit shook her head at emberkit's question. "just talking we are." she said with a smile "To catch your attention, what did we do?" Lostkit asked, keeping her ears perked up, curious to hear the answer. she flicked her bi-colored eyes from dapplekit to emberkit and back again, waiting for an answer.

[Embersong]

I feel like I don't belong here, but you two were hissing at each other, or at least you were." She nodded at the tortoiseshell kit. "I thought something was wrong." She hopped up onto the rock next to the two kits, and smiled at Lostkit. "I like your eyes, their unique. She looked over at Dapplekit, inspecting her from ears to tail. "Are you okay?"

[Dapplepaw]

Dapplekit stepped back from the cream kit, getting closer to Lostkit. "I'm fine." She hissed, obviously uncomfortable, "I just don't like other kits." The tortoiseshell whipped a tail in the air, irritation flashing in her green eyes. The tortoiseshell stepped closer to Lostkit, looking at the white kit in order to avoid the cream kit's gaze combing over her.

[Lostpaw]

" no, everything is alright" Lostkit said quickly, noticing the rising tension. she also noticed Dapplekit was moving closer to her and further away from emberkit. She was torn between liking emberkit for her kindness towards herself, and disliking her for getting dapplekit upset. It confused her and she was sure the puzzlement she felt was reflected in her eyes. She decided to stop a fight before it began "bothering dapplekit, I want you to stop. not doing it on purpose, I think you are, but bothering her it is, and bother me that does" she said softly, though her eyes narrowed. Later she knew she would speak to emberkit about this, not in a rude way and more likely than not she would apologize for her own rash words, but that was to be saved for later.

[Embersong]

"Oh, I didn't know I did anything wrong to any of you," Emberkit mewed, confused and hurt. "I just wanted a friend." She backed up, away from the two kits, and turned, looking at the ground. What did I do? Did I speak too freely? Why do they not like me? She thought, the questions circling in her mind.

[Dapplepaw]

Dapplekit widened her eyes, feeling the slight confusion and hurt in the other lot's voice. Dapplekit sucked in a breath, briefly fighting on whether to get attached to two other kits before apprenticeship, but she spoke out, "...hey. D-Don't leave." The tortoise shell felt nervous, not knowing if she should go through, but she had determination in her eyes, "You don't need to leave, I just prefer less company. You can still sit here."

Dapplekit sighed, "I'm Dapplekit. What's your name?"

Emberkit turned back to look at the other kits, hearing what Dapplekit said. "I'm Emberkit." She looked at the tortoiseshell kit for a moment, spotting signs of nervousness. "Why don't you like other kits? We all grow up together, so why can't we all be friends?"
