Windswirl didn't get Swirlpaw this time, but she did wait for her where they would leave camp. She did stop at the den so her scent should be very easy to detect. Maybe it was the warmth of sunlight or chirping birds that would wake her but she figured Swirlpaw would come. Getting up early since she turned an apprentice should come natural now. "Good, you here. Ready?" It's what she would say when she heard her approach.

Swirlpaw woke to warmth in the air and birds chirping. She instantly got up and began to wash her pelt in rasping swipes of her tongue. She was expecting her mentor to come any second now, yet for some reason she didn't. Her ears twitched slightly as she heard pawsteps move past, and she blinked slowly to clear her mind. Stretching easily, she weaved her way carefully through her fellow apprentice's before bounding toward the camp. She easily picked up he mentor's scent, and purred as she followed it happily, soon pulling up beside her mentor. She gazed sightless lay upon her mentor, as what a force of habit, before bowing her head. Though this time, as she raised it, she was smiling welcomingly. She'd come to respect, as well as rather enjoy the company of her mentor. Windswirl. "Good morning to you. What are we doing today?" she was unaware that this very day was her assessment, in fact, she merely expected it to be an ordinary days training. Not that she minded. Being an apprentice was a lot more entertaining, as well as mind developing. And not to mention, distracting.

"Hey youngster. Hope you slept well. Enjoying the days of being an apprentice?" She responded cheerfully to Swirlpaw making some conversation, wow come to think of it, she never really did check up on her lately- at all. She headed out to the training hollow, not wanting to intertupt her if Swirlpaw spoke.

Swirlpaw tilted her head, confused. Wad this, custom? Her mentor had never asked her of such before. Usually only a quick and friendly greeting of 'good morning' would pass between the pair before they left. Shrugging, she bowed her head again anyway. "I slept as well as one might. Though I beleive my apprenticeship is nearing it's end, correct?" there was little to no excitement in her vo ice, and she padded silently after her mentor toward the camp exit before realising how rude she must seem. "A d you? Are you hoping to get another apprentice after me?" She was rather curious of this. If was not long before they reached the training ground, Swirlpaw managing the trip to their destination with practiced ease.

She was sympathetic answering Swirlpaw's question,"Yes, your assessment is today!" She said cheerfully and was about to explain how the assessment begins when she stopped walking, they made it. "It's possible I'll be assigned another but that doesn't mean I won't be around, we can still spend time together. Plus, you'll be a warrior than, once I put in a referral to Flamepath." She purred.

Swirlpaw nodded slowly, scanning the area with her ears and nose rather than her eyes. She noticed easily what she'd already assumed was the obvious, mths area was empty. She twitched her tail and stepped back so they were spread out, and smiled across at her mentor. They were almost the same height now, and so she felt she was to a lesser disadvantage. "What might we be doing first?" she questioned, unsure as to how this was supposed to work. Was it not that they assess your hunting by sending said apprentice off to catch as much as they can, or a specified amount, by a certain time. There were always allocated rules, often modified and set by the mentor, or in fact different assessor, though the main rule of the hunting factor was no talking or other intersection with the assessor whilst they keep track of your progress. She felt her sun warming her back, and wondered when they were to start.

"It's what you will be doing." She corrected Swirlpaw and explained,"You are to hunt first, catch three or four pieces of prey. After that it's battle training. I'll be observing but you aren't suppose to be distracted by I." She said happy that this was her final lesson,"Go when your ready." She said as Windswirl remained still.

Swirlpaw nodded thoughtfully, her ears twitching in embarrassment as she was corrected over her mistake. As she was given her instructions, she nodded and whipped around, bounding along a stale rabbit trail toward a small stony outcrop with a few little scraggly shrubs. Pausing, she closed her eyes and tasted the air carefully before her ears shot up. She caught the scent and sound of a scuffling mouse, and dropped into a crouch, weaving her way silently toward the little critter before pausing a tail length away. Effortlessly, she pounced and killed it in one blow, promptly carrying it over to a certain place and burying it before heading deeper into the territory. She then went on to catch another mouse. Pouncing and killing it just as easily before burying it nearby the first. She then caught a rather plump vole almost as easily, though she'd had to catch it with her paw as it'd tried to dive into a crack in the rocks surface. She then found herself stalking up on her biggest prey, a rabbit. She'd only caught one so far, and wanted to try her luck again. She managed to corner it somehow without knowing, and pounced to stun and kill it, dragging it back to her collection. She found her mentor and placed it at Windswirl's paws before bounding off and collecting the two mice and vole she'd caught also. She placed these down too and glanced up at Windswirl, awaiting further instruction.

Windswirl really wasn't too worried of her eyesight any more but she was when she first was elected to train her. Swirlpaw's capable and always was of anything. She waited a few moments before following. She followed but far far away to see her stalk a mouse and another. You know I think I should of said rabbit.. She thought to herself as how easily mice can be caught and it was two. Windswirl padded forward watching as she went through a bush and ah, just as she thought. Windswirl saw Swirlpaw's greatest challenge, a rabbit. It ran and was caught within mere seconds. Swirlpaw managed to trap it. She went through the bush again to the regular spot, shaking off the leaves. Noticing Swirlpaw pop up with prey. "Great job." She said glancing at her, she already seen her catch the prey.
Windswirl than said,"You can attack."

Swirlpaw had been aware of her mentor's presence watching her the whole time she'd been hunting. In fact, occiaisionly her ears would flicker and tilt back as they caught the sound of her movement. As she'd approached the allocated spot, she'd heard rustling in the bush, and swivelled one ear in that direction as her mentor stepped out moments before Swirlpaw herself had. As the warrior spoke, the apprentice purred happily at the praise and dipped her head in gratitude. Yet at the order to attack her, she froze before nodding silently. Dropping into a battle stance, the young she-cat weaved easily around her, dainty on her paws in case she needed to duck out of the way. Closing her eyes, she focused on nothing at all, thanks to the fact that even if she did so she couldn't. Keeping her claws sheathed, she sprang forward and, quick as lightning, sprang neatly past her mentor with a mock blow toward her face to distract her before dashing forward to butt Windswirl 's flank.

She was already ready and Swirlpaw didn't aim at her so she was put off, about to dodge, she was hit at her side. She aimed to swipe a paw beneath her.

Swirlpaw smiled victoriously as she felt her head collide with the warrior's side. You'd think she'd be used to her battle style by now. She then gritted her teeth together and twitched her ears as the sound of a paw slashing air rung in her head. Opening her mouth in an instant, she grasped the lag carefully in her teeth and made to knock her mentor off balance, shoving herself up underneath the warrior so she'd be more likely to knock her, or at least make her loose her balance.

She yelped in complete pain when teeth were sunk in her paw and the fall when Swirlpaw tripped her from underneath. It was a struggle getting up. She fell once. Ears flattening and in a crouch she bunched up her back legs to get a high leap. She retaliated quickly and jumped, aiming straight for Swirlpaw and unsheathed her claws in mid air to get a good grip on Swirlpaw. They say the bigger you are the harder you fall. With Windswirls weight where she wnated to use to her advantage being forced by gravity, it should... There was no way it can be avoided.

Swirlpaw heard her mentor screech as her teeth met her skin, and she worried for a second, freezing as she heard the warrior thud to the ground, causing the she-cat to flinch slightly before whipping round to pin her mentor. Unfortunately, she had hesitated to long, and her paws landed just where Windswirl had been moments before. Confused, she twitched her ears and heard a sound above her just as claws latched onto her and a weight smashed down onto her back. The younger feline fell to the ground, her blank eyes staring about in shock as she practically when limp under her mentor. Yet as she closed her eyes again, she felt claws pierce her skin, and without even giving herself away, she unsheathed her own and thrust powerfully upward with all four legs, powering forward before lashing out with her hind legs, hardly even pausing to do so. Therefore the move was hardly to be expected.

Windswirl had a small smirk feeling satisfaction that Swirlpaw was down..well for now. As she was going to get off her is when Swirlpaw got the strength to stand again. Luckily Windswirl wasn't directly attacked by the move Swirlpaw made because she was inches away. It was real minor so she was only hit in the muzzle but it wasn't a hard hit. Windswirl went to run straight into her just to knock her off her feet.
