Forestkit was sitting in his mother's nest, gazing around the nursery. It was noon, and the den was packed with cats. He turned away, not finding any familiar faces. Not that he would. He hardly talked to anyone.
As he turned away, a pelt caught his eye. One that actually was familiar. He tipped his head to the side, wondering what his blind sister was doing. "Hey Birchkit."

Birchkit's ears pricked up at a voice of another kitten. The brown and white tabby turned around and twitched her tail. "What do you want?" Birchkit grumbled before recognizing the scent. It was Forestkit one of her littermates. The brown and white tabby knew that her brother was near her. She just could not see him. "Oh hello Forestkit." Birchkit murmured. She was not in the mood to talk. In fact she never was.

He twitched an ear. "I don't want anything. Just saying hi." He muttered back, sensing that Birchkit wasn't really in the talking mood. 'What does she do all day? I bet she gets bored. Life can't be as fun if you can't see...' He didn't know what he'd do without his sight. Forestkit tore his gaze away and went back to watching the nursery, wondering if any of the other kits were blind.

Birchkit wondered if her brother was like the other kits in the nursery. No he's not loud and crazy. The brown and white tabby sighed. Birchkit was bored.. There was nothing to do in the nursery exept be crazy and loud which the blind kit did not want to do. "I'm sorry I snapped at you." She spoke tail twitching. "I don't very enjoy company and I thought that you were one of the noisy kits that wants to ask others if they want to play." Birchkit meowed again

Forestkit twitched his whiskers at the apology. He wasn't bothered by his sister's snap. He liked it, actually. It was different from the norm. "I think I'm far from being one of those types of kits." He looked back over at her. "Though if you don't enjoy company I can go find something else to do."

Birchkit thought for a second. Good he's not one of the noisy kits. "You don't have to go. I'm ok with you staying." The brown and white tabby meowed. "I only don't like cats who are noisy and crazy." Birchkit added. She was now silent. The brown and white tabby did not know what to say next. "So what do you like to do?" Birchkit asked her brother, head tilting.

He went quiet, flicking his tail. He found it interesting that Birchkit didn't like noisy cats. He thought it'd be the opposite, since hearing was one of the working senses she had. 'Does it get tiring to listen and smell your way around all the time?' He wondered, snapping out of his thoughts when she asked him a question. "I like to sleep."

Birchkit's tail twitched a bit. He likes to sleep? I've never heard of a kit that likes to sleep! She thought. The brown and white kitten thought that most kits were too jumpy and energetic to sleep. Sleeping was a better use of time than being crazy? Right? Birchkit began to speak again. "I like to observe with my other senses" The brown and white tabby murmured

"Yeah? What's that like?" Forestkit asked, not caring if she took offense to it or not. He was curious and he wanted to know. Didn't it get confusing, trying to match sounds to scents? The white feline stood up and padded closer, sitting down again and waiting for an answer.

Birchkit's brown tipped ears pricked up when her brother asked a question. "It's ok, I'm still practicing it." The brown and white tabby meowed. Being blind was not all that bad. Birchkit's other senses were better because she did not have sight. But still the brown and white tabby wished that she could see the world like Forestkit. It must be good to have sight. Birchkit thought.

"It'll get easier over time, I'm sure." He responded, wondering if TreeClan had any blind warriors. He paused, looking at Birchkit's eyes. They looked normal to him. 'I hope no one takes pity on her for being blind.' He thought, feeling a slight growl begin to rise in his throat. 'I'll beat them to a pulp if they do!'

Birchkit sighed. "I hope so." The brown and white tabby murmured softly. She stayed silent for a while wondering what to speak about. Birchkit then thought of a question. "Have you met any other kits yet? If you did what were they like?" The brown and white tabby asked her head tilting from one side to another. She wanted to know this because what if Forestkit met a really annoying or bossy kit. Birchkit would want to stay away from them for sure.

"Just this superficial, annoying older kit. She didn't give me her name." He said, thinking of ArĂȘtekit. She had whacked him with a moss-ball, then tried to convince him that his nest wasn't his. Forestkit didn't think very highly of her. "Have you met anyone?"

Birchkit shock her small head. "No one yet." The brown and white tabby meowed. So Forestkit had met a kit. An Annoying one too! Poor Forestkit. If I had been there I would have made that kit be quiet and leave my brother alone! She thought silently. Since her brother did not know her name, Birchkit might eat that cat one day without knowing that that cat was the one annoying her older brother.

"No one yet." 'Lucky.' He sighed. "I hope life in the apprentices' den won't be as bad." Unfortunately, the annoying kits here would get older and follow him there. 'But maybe they'll quiet down and mature a bit.' Forestkit twitched his whiskers, thinking about apprentice life. And after that, warrior life. He brushed his tail lightly against Birchkit's. "Do you have a warrior name you want?"
