[Rune]

(Get it? Ariel, The Little Mermaid song, HA HA HA)

Rune was skipping about the Plains, bouncing through the bluebells, frolicking through flowers, and rolling in the roses.

Okay, maybe not rolling in roses, that would hurt.

It was like nothing in the world could go wrong, like the sunshine would last forever. Like there wasn't an Jane giving you an awkward stare as you were picking up butterflies and ate one, wondering what they tasted like. Rune heard a rustle behind her, and slowly turned her head, seeing a she-cat just right behind her.

"Oh!" She coughed out a chewed up butterfly wing "Um, how long have you been standing there?"

[Jane]

Ariel watched the other she-cat swallow butterflys. The brown and white tabby frowned. Yuck who would eat insects. "What are you doing?" Ariel asked twitching her tail. The brown and white tabby's green gaze fixed on the other she-cat.

"Just a for a little bit." She answered. "And why are you eating those." The brown and white tabby questioned flicking her tail towards some butterflys fluttering around. 

[Rune]

"I don't know." Rune replied, picking up a bright yellow flower between her claws. "I don't know why I do anything, really."

"Why did I eat a butterfly?" She mused for a bit, then shrugged "Curiosity? And by the way they taste like flowers, disgusting, bleck." She flopped onto her side, a shower of shed fur blowing in the summer breeze.

"I'm Rune, by the way, in case you were wondering." Rune said randomly "Can I ask your name?"

[Jane]

Ariel wrinkled her nose at the thought of eating a disgusting colorful butterfly. Rune, what kind of name is that? The brown and white tabby thought. "I'm Ariel." Ariel responded. "So what do you like to do? Hunt, Fight? Or something else." She asked

Ariel looked at Rune. "Where are you from. Are you a kittypet?"

[Rune]

Rune was inspecting this poise like it was the most interesting thing on the planet.

"Ariel? That's a nice name." Rune said the same thing with every name she got, ever. "What do I do? Hmm, well, I'm not sure really, I'm still figuring that part out."

She dropped the flower when Ariel mentioned kittypets. She sprang to her paws and her eyes had a million mixtures of terrified. Then it was gone in an instant.

"No, no, no." She sighed, looking back down at the flower laying on the ground "Not a kittypet. Never again." She stiffly shook her head and looked back at Ariel. "I just joined DeathClan when my friend Jude encouraged me. What about you?"

[Jane]

Ariel saw that Rune was not too happy about talking about kittypet's. "Well I just joined DeathClan too." The brown and white tabby exclaimed. Jude, who's Jude. Another DeathClanner? 

"So have you met any other DeathClanners other then this Jude cat." Ariel questioned head tilting from one side to another.

[Rune]

Oh, okay, another newbie then. Rune didn't say that out-loud because that sounded incredibly rude.



"Well, I've just met you, you are another Deathclanner." Rune countered "But other than that, no, I haven't."

[Jane]

Ariel had no idea what to say next. "Umm do you want to do something. We can't just stand around all day." The brown and white tabby meowed.

"We could go hunting if you want?"

[Rune]

Rune huffed and puffed up her fur "I am not just standing around," She protested "I'm just... Out." She didn't really know what she was doing, as she said before, but wanted to believe she was at least doing something.

"Hunting? Sure!" She stretched out and bounded up by Ariel in a second. Her sharp eyes saw a clump of rose bushes that had a little more rustling than just the wind. "Let's try in that rose bush."

[Jane]

Ariel quickly got into a hunting crouch and pressed her chest and chin to the ground when Rune had suggested to try the rose bush.

The brown and white tabby began to take light steps towards the bush. Ariel tasted the air. Mouse scent. A mouse would make a tasty snack.

[Rune]

Rune daintily sniffed the air, smelling the sweet, sweet, sweet scent of mouse. "All right, I got an idea." She whispered, creeping ever so close to the bush, just almost touching it.

"Get on the other side." She mouthed to Ariel, not wanting to alert the mice just yet.

[Jane]

Ariel nodded and quickly got to the side not really knowing what Rune's plan was yet. The she-cat still was crouching staying as low and quiet as she could.

Ariel just waited for the other she-cat's signal.

[Rune]

Rune nodded to Ariel as she went to the other side of the bush, and she got ready to stick her paws into the mouse nest. Either way, if this works we're getting the mice. She unsheathed her claws and jabbed her paw right were she saw the mouse, and she heard a shrill squeak as it started rustling the other way, right towards Ariel.

"Snatch it when it comes out the other side!"

[Jane]

Ariel waited for the mouse to come running towards her.

Once she saw it, the brown and white tabby leapt onto it, trapping the mouse with her claws. Ariel sunk her teeth.

The mouse lay limp in her jaws.

[Rune]

Rune smiled as Ariel made the killing bite, and held the limp mouse in her mouth. "Great catch, n-"

Another squeak sounded from the bush as yet another mouse leaped out, terrified for its life. She flinched before leaping after it and stamping it under her paws. She noticed how plump it was, and she leaned in for a killing bite...

The mouse gave another horrified shriek before trying to get out of her paws, and with a sudden feeling, Rune knew why. She looked at the mouse, leaned back up-

And let it go.
