Fawnkit was positively adorable. Such a tiny little thing with her frail, quivering body, far too small. The child was a runt. Something she was very sensitive about. She'd almost been stillborn, and at first she wouldn't eat and had to have herbs to make her strong enough to even live. It was a miracle she did. And yet somehow she managed. This tiny little bundle of golden fur, a mirror image of her mother if not for her one white paw. Even her eyes, so recently opened, were the same liquid amber that shone warmly in the pale light of the den. And yet little did many know, that this warmth in her eyes was not so present in her heart. Though she loved her mother dearly, and was even somewhat fond of the medicine cat that had brought about this miracle of her existence, she was not so fond of others. For her aforementioned frailness and complete lack in size and weight made her very sensitive to others opinions, causing her to act hasty and scornful in order to make herself...feel better? Perhaps.
Now her eyes blink open once more, tiny maw stretching wide in a yawn, and her wide Amber eyes seemingly glowing, encompassing a good portion of her face in their uneasy state. Yet she soon narrows them slightly and scans the den, unsure if she even wants to converse, or even be seen, by other cats. The first few comments she'd recieved, or perhaps dreamed about, had only heightened her spite for others. Things such as "watch it, runt" or "shouldn't you be dead?" had taken a great toll on her already weak ego, and so she was truthfully fearful of approaching others. Yet this shyness was well concealed, even as she got up and was promptly tripped over by a bigger kit. Not that such a feat was difficult, she was smaller than the majority of kits born after her. Falling to the ground, she instantly whips around so fast she stumbles on her slightly trembling legs, and offers the clumsy feline an irritated hiss, craning her head slightly to look at them as she has to do with every cat. "Hey! Watch where you're going!"

(May I join?)
Jaykit was sitting in his nest, blinking at Fawnkit with huge, green-blue eyes. He was younger than her, but she looked so tiny...
He got up and stumbled over to the trembling she-kit and thumped down in front of her. "Hiya." He mewled, his black dappled dark grey fur bushed out to keep him warm.

As the other kitten moves closer, Fawn realises quite clearly that though he is younger, he is also bigger than her, and with his fur fluffed up against the cold...she fluffs up her own to at least appear less tiny, though it probably makes her appear intimidated instead. To shake that idea loose, she lifts her chin haughtily and glares at him, her gaze steely and cold. Probably showing the ice in her heart with much efficiency.
"Who are you, and what do you want?" She demands, her voice coming out a little shaky, though still harsh. Her words tended to be sharp and to the point, a blades edge in the form of vocality. The golden runt swishes her tail irritably, trying her best to appear intimidating despite the fact it probably looked like a nervous twitch. She didn't really feel like being bugged right now, and her outward temperemant proves this fact greatly. Without so much as waiting for a response, the child begins to stalk away toward a quieter corner of the den.

Jaykits' eyes widened in surprise, and he took a step backwards.
"Uh, sorry. I'm Jaykit! I didn't-didn't mean t-to make you mad..." He mewled, the tiny she-kits glare had burned into him. He shivered and cowered, bushed out fur spiking.
He followed the kitten as she stalked away, and kept his blue-green eyes fixed on her.
"What's your name?" He asked the scrawny thing. "I hope you don't hate me..." he murmured, sighing tinily.

(She's so mean...lol) At the other kitten's instant fearful reaction, the child felt a flash of guilt. Yet accompanying it was the thrill of pride that she could do this. She could get the other kittens to leave her alone by making them fear her. Yet she needed both his fear and respect, perhaps she could use him. With a sharp 'humph!' the child turned up her nose at the younger kitten, displaying her complete lack of interest in him. Yet still she took note of his name. "Well then, Jaykit...I guess you'll just have to make amends" She spits his name like an insult, before turning her head away so she's only just peering at him out of the corner of her eye. He wouldn't dare make a move to tease her now, so it would seem her mission was accomplished. Yet still...being mean just felt so...right.
Fawn was not unaware that the kitten had followed her, yet she allowed it. She almost felt like a leader being followed devotingly by a lowly member of her clan, needed only to make her look good. Yes. This kitten's weakness she could use, if only to make her look better. So perhaps she ought to keep him close. His voice was so frail now, like a scolded child. Which, in a way, he was. She tilts her head to one side and assesses him like prey, making sure her gaze continues to put him in his place, she was enjoying this. "Hmm...I suppose that is yet to be decided, isn't it? My name is Fawnkit." She hoped she'd be Fawnpaw soon enough, yet she couldn't help the sliver of doubt that told her she might be held back for being so tiny. This doubt showed on her face, and she quickly reestablished her cold mask of indifference.

(XD fiesty isn't she)
Jaykit flattened his ears and bristled when she had teased and taunted him. His tiny claws unsheathed without him meaning too, and he quickly tucked his paws under him so Fawnkit wouldn't see and get mad.
"I-i'm sorry..." He mewled, the corner of his lip pulling up when he heard her spit his name out like a piece of fox-dung. He had no idea what he'd done to deserve the treatment she was giving him. Maybe he should stand up for himself...
"Well, how do I know I like you." He bravely meowed, raising his head. "Maybe you don't deserve me to be your friend." He gazed at Fawnkit, not even realizing the hurt and sadness that must be showing in his gaze. He just wanted a friend, that was all. Someone to be there for him, so he could be there for them.

(Yup, just look at her quote..."whether or not size matters, remember this; you don't" that's what she convinces herself to think about others because she doesn't want anyone to tease her.) She eyes him irritably as he apologises yet again. Yet she can't help the flash of sympathy for this kit she's begun bullying out of spite for her peers. She shoves it away with an inaudible growl. 'Pathetic!' Her mind snaps, though she isn't sure who she is referring to by this point. Her eyes flicker back to the younger tom, and at his rising anger, she can't help but caution herself. She wasn't meant to be angering others, her mother would not approve. She mentally scolds herself again for the moment of weakness, and raises her chin haughtily, glaring up at him like he is the most trivial of matters to her. Like she couldn't care less. "Good."
'Apparently the worm has teeth.' She muses as the younger cat raises his own chin, snapping back at her with the slightest bit of ferocity. However, at his next sentence, she can't help the hurt that flashes across her features. This wasn't what she'd wanted. She just didn't want him to tease her. She'd seen that way he'd looked at her, judging her hieght just like everyone else. Eyeing her up like the little runt she is. She didn't even know that this particular fact with this specific kitten was all in her head. Shoving the hurt from her features like a foreign thing, she steels herself. Yet it had been no doubt as obvious as his own hurt had been to her. 'What do I need with friends? They're useless!"
Getting to her paws, Fawn stalks toward him so she stands over him, basically quaking with fury now as she forces as much venom into her gaze and words as she can possibly muster, chasing away the cobwebs of hurt that still remain. "Listen here, you better be careful what you say to me..." She hisses, her voice low and dangerous for a kitten. "You're lucky I don't just go to my mother and tell her you've been teasing me. Do you think she'd believe you, or her daughter? I'd bet she'd believe her precious little kit, the tiny little runt who's just lucky she survived. So hold. Your. Tongue." She defines the last three words as well as she can, the warning clear. Yet it was her hurt that caused it, and she visibly flinched at the mention of her own near death as a newborn.

Even Fawn wasn't sure what was going on. As the other kitten bared his teeth at her, she snarls right back at him, lips peeled back to show sharp little fangs. There was no doubt she knew how to use them. Maybe not well, but she could figure it out if she needed to. Her amber gaze glares straight into that of the younger kit, her fur prickled along her spine. Yet she couldn't help the slight sadness that welled up inside her. And the clashing relief and disappointment as he huffed and turned, stalking away from her.
The golden child allows her glare to smoulder a little longer before she feels the flames within her waver and fade. "Good, be gone with you." She spat, yet it was weak, and her voice broke at the end of her comment. The fire now doused, Fawn sighs and sits down heavily upon the ground in the dark corner she'd put herself in. He'd been trying to be her friend, she realises. Now that her mind was clear, she was aware of just how much she'd mucked up.
Now convinced there was no one to observe her many weaknesses, the child allows her lifeline mask to slip and show her pain. A troubled expression covers her face, shimmering in her eyes. Yet she forces it to harden as she huffs irritably. "Pathetic. You're pathetic, Fawn. Don't you forget that..." she scolds herself, yet its venom is lacking and she sighs and glares down at her paws.

Jaykit didn't find anyone, so he had sat back down in his nest. He cast his eyes back to Fawnkit, wondering hard if he should go back to her. He wanted to, but he didn't know if she'd hurt him.

Fawn huffed slightly, more irritated with herself than she's ever been. Yet she can't possibly convince her mind to reverse its beliefs that the only way to gain respect was to inforce it from the very beginning. If glares could light a fire, her paws would have seared to ash by now. Perhaps everyone was lucky that her scowls were just that. A petty form of her bad attitude towards everything and everyone, including herself.
She could feel the stare of another cat trained on her, and forcing as much hurt from her expression as she possibly could, she casts Jaykit a sidelong scowl. Yet it's lacking in venom this time, thanks to the distance between them and her anger being purely aimed at herself. Huffing again, the golden child turns away and lies down, hunching her tiny body and tucking her paws beneath her, tail curling round to blend in with the rest of her ginger pelt. No doubt she looked like a tiny golden pall with a head. Expression now transfixed in a permanent scowl and eyes an icy glare belying their warm Amber hue.
The ground seems very interesting now, as she stares ant it so intently one would think she was awaiting it to fall away beneath her. Honestly, she wasn't sure she'd mind much. She was rather pathetic, after all. What would it matter. Still feeling Jaykit's attention trained upon her, she raises her chin defiantly and casts a glare in his direction. "Haven't you got anything better to do than stare at me all day?" She spat, eyes narrowing slightly to assess him.

Jaykit scowls right back at the ginger kitten and trys to be as defiant and assesing as Fawnkit was being.
"Well, no, not really. Have you got anything better to do than to be a grumpy old crow all day."
He shoots right back, blue-green eyes not concealing any feeling of hurt and defiance. He turned his back to Fawnkit and stared at his nest, his small grey body tucked away. He might have better luck with Fawnkit if he tried to be nice, but that was becoming more and more difficult.
He sighed and tuned back to Fawnkit. "Look. I know you're older than me," he started to squeak, "but you know not all cats want to be mean. They want to be your friend. Like when I first saw you, I didn't think of your size or anything, I just saw a kitten alone and thought you might wanna play or be my first friend."
His voice shook with each word he had said, and he braced himself in case Fawnkit rocketed at him and beat him up.

(Hehe, replying anyway, but wrong account ) Fawn whipped her head around to fully glare at the younger kit, her eyes narrowed in clear distaste. The nerve of this kit! Though not that she could say much. Her fur bristles along her spine, and she forces it to lie flat as she lifts her head defiantly, trying her best to look as aloof and indifferent as possible. "Humph! Maybe I wouldn't be if you weren't staring at me like I'm some sort of squishable insect!" She snapped back, tail lashing slightly. Okay, so maybe she'd imagined that particular look. Perhaps she was just so used to receiving it, dreams, imagination or otherwise. Huffing, she turns the other cheek to the ignorant feline and decides it's best to ignore him.
The second he mentions her size, Fawn's whole body went rigid and her eyes blazed with renewed flame. That was exactly what she didn't want him to bring up. Whole body tense and basically trembling all over, the gold child approaches him on stiff limbs until she stands directly over him, glaring down at him. Yet that familiar hurt shimmers in her eyes. Despite his honeyed words, he'd crossed the line. Whether purposefully or not. "I'm afraid if you're looking for friends, you'd best look elsewhere, for you don't know me even slightly well enough, that much is clear." She goes to turn away, claws unsheathed and digging into the ground to try and still her trembling form. Yet she can't. She's not done here yet.
Raising one paw, she points a claw at him and leans closer, eyes blazing with both pain and fury. She doesn't even understand it herself. "No one has ever wanted to be my friend, not even tried once. I'm just a pathetic little runt with a bad attitude and little to no worth. I shouldn't even be alive, did you know that?" She still can't stop her quivering. Why is she saying all this? She really ought to leave. "So concidering all this, tell me one thing Jaykit. Why on earth would you ever wish to befriend me?" She stares straight into his defiant gaze, as though she could read him. Then she sheathes her claws and whips around so fast it's a miracle her tail didn't smack him in the face.
"Whatever. Like I should care about anyone's opinion but my own. Someday they'll have to respect me. But until then, I simply don't care." With that she storms off out of the nursery. If he decides to follow her, that's his problem. She needs some air.

(Ah! Whoops! I forgot!!!!!!)
Jaykit gapaed, his blue green eyes growing very, very wide. He hadn't expected her to be so vicious! He shook, wondering how on earth he had deserved the treatment she had givin him.
Jaykit wouldn't ever forget this conversation.
He crouched under Fawnkit, grey fur bushed out. "I-I only wanted to be happy and have some fun with another kitten..." He had murmured before Fawnkit stormed off.
Jaykit crept after Fawnkit, not gonna give up just yet. "Hey, wait!" He yowled after her, small, tiny legs skittering as he darted out to try and change her mind about him.

He seems so genuine. So sincere. 'Weak. Pathetic. Foolish.' Her mind supplies for her, causing her to give one sharp nod. This cat was useless to her, as was his opinion. What did it matter to her if he just wanted to be happy, was merely desperate for friends in this seemingly kitless nursery? She didn't care, and whatever he wanted he would have to go find elsewhere. She couldn't let him see her upset. Or anyone for that matter. She refused to give in to weakness, and one day she'd look back on this and laugh. Laugh at how pathetic she was compared to how strong she'll be then. This was merely a trial, and one she would surpass with ease.
Even as he tried to summon her back, Fawn sweeps past the younger kit with ease, glad no one notices a fuming runt and her rather astonished looking follower. He is quite determined, isn't he? This particular fact annoys her to no end, yet she can't help a slither of admiration. She would put try so hard even for herself. Shaking of any good thoughts toward the younger feline, she swivels around and blocks his path, tail lashing slightly in response to the action. "Give up and move on. There's nothing for you here." She points out, lacking a hiss or snarl, yet no less sharp and venomous as she strides over to a tree. She's never climbed before, yet she needs some time to thing. Unsheathing her claws and bunching her muscles, the golden child launches herself at the trunk and drags herself up onto the lowest branch, from which she glares down at Jaykit before disappearing into the leaves, for once glad of her tiny size as she slinks into some form of hiding place, trying not to fall.
