Willowpaw wasn't feeling too great at the moment. Her kit-hood had simply been disastrous, and it didn't look like her apprenticeship would be any better, considering all the messy circumstances. Wanting to clear her head of thoughts, Willowpaw left camp shortly before nightfall, going out into the territory which she knew fairly well by now.
For a little while, enough for the sun to have set, she walked around, enjoying the lack of any of cats around her, even if it was getting very cold out. Willowpaw was ready to go back to the camp when a rustling noise stopped her, and she opening her mouth the taste the air before calling out, "Uh, is someone there?"

Irispaw popped out of the bushes, startled, and it looked like her prey had been to. She had been out for a long while, attempting to impress her mentor by catching a mouse or two for the elders or kits. After carefully stalking a vole for a while, she had finally been in the right position to pounce but failed miserably for the second time that day.
The stocky black cat crawled out of the bushes grouchily, almost surprised when she stopped short, face to face with a gray cat. Irispaw stepped backwards into the bushes, shuffling her paws awkwardly. It was bad enough that she had been startled into missing her prey but she didn't realize there was another cat around. At least the other feline didn't appear to be too much older than her.
Irispaw chuckled nervously. "Sorry, I didn't see you there." She said hastily, hoping not to make a fool of herself so early into her apprenticeship. She straightened, clearing her throat. "I hope you weren't hunting or anything for your mentor or whatever."

Willowpaw didn't recognize the cat who appeared before her, which was good, she really needed to meet new cats and make more friends, considering that she didn't have any. Most cats that she knew were a part of her dysfunctional family, and all her siblings were completely out of their minds. Maybe Willowpaw was crazy too, and she didn't know it, and that's why she didn't have any friends.
"No, uh, it's okay!" Willowpaw blinked at the black cat, the tip of her tail twitching slightly. She shivered slightly as a breeze blew on the bare moor, her pelt fluffing up slightly. "I was just out on a walk.." She shuffled her paws against the ground, acting rather anxious for an apprentice of her age.
"You weren't on an assignment either, were you? I'd hate to interrupt." She mewed. "I'm Willowpaw, by the way."

Irispaw shook her head quickly. "No, I was just hoping to bring back some prey for the elders... But it's okay, hopefully not one will notice I'm gone." She explained, glancing over her shoulder a little nervously. Thankfully the camp was not too far away and she could get back before the sun fully set.
Hating the awkward silence, the sociable cat decided to make conversation. She had only met one or two apprentices of the clan since her ceremony, and she didn't dislike the new she-cat. Perhaps this was an opportunity to make a new friend, if nothing. "My name's Irispaw, by the way." She introduced, rather cheerfully despite her earlier disappointment.

Was this what it felt like to talk to someone normal? It was so refreshing, Willowpaw was amazed by how smoothly the conversation was going. No one was trying to make fun of her, or being rude and antisocial. She listened to Irispaw with her interested piqued, nodding along to show she was paying attention.
"It's nice to meet you!" Willowpaw's tail twitched, and she spoke happily. "I've never seen you around before, I guess we just run in different circles." And Irispaw should be grateful that she wasn't a part of the dappled she-cat's group, Willowpaw noted to herself.

Irispaw nodded, eyes wide and interested. "You do look a good few moons older than me." She replied, taking a closer look at the she-cat for the first time. "Not to be rude, of course." The cheeky apprentice added hastily, avoiding blushing.
(Short, sorry)

Willowpaw licked her chest, feeling rather scrutinized under Irispaw's gaze. "No, it's alright," She mewed, looking at the black she-cat. "I'm still not even close to actually being ready to become a warrior." Willowpaw explained, the tip of her tail twitching back and forth.
