"Treat other cats how you want to be treated." Willowpaw recited the golden rule. "I didn't do anything to provoke him, that's the difference."
"You started out this conversation by snapping at me and being nasty, of course I responded like this. I'm not a doormat, you rat, you need to learn that you can't be a little fox-heart without consequences." Obviously that was the difference. If Swanpaw had apologized for running into her, or even calmed down after the first interaction, Willowpaw wouldn't have needed to get mean, but it was Swanpaw's choice to be treated like this.

"Sometimes someone needs to take the higher road. Don't expect it to be me though." Swanpaw shrugged, her tail curling along her back.
"Again with the insults, is that really necessary? You don't hear me insulting you. What happened to 'treat others the way you want to be treated'?" She rolled her eyes, sick of the petty back and forth. It was getting old. This cat got in her way, she was startled so she snapped. It was the usual for her, but when Willowpaw kept up with the attitude Swanpaw simply followed along.

"Well, what reason do I have to be the bigger cat? I'm just a cat, not a saint." Willowpaw pointed out, rolling her eyes again. It was hypocritical of Swanpaw to say that, and at this point Willowpaw expected nothing less from the rat-like cat.
Willowpaw shrugged. "I'm just being honest. You're weird looking, you have double standards, and you're entitled." Though she wouldn't admit it, she enjoyed hurting Swanpaw's feelings, because she deserved it. "Go ahead and point out my flaws, at least I'll admit I have them."

"You don't." Swanpaw began grooming her paw, swiping it over her large ears. She continued to do this for a few moments, staring the apprentice down.
Swanpaw wasn't even hurt anymore. Once a point was repeated over and over again, it lost its malice. "Who says I didn't admit it?" She raised a brow, placing her paw back down. "You're just as entitled as I am, you're rude, you're aggressive, you're definitely not eye candy either. I wont go on, there's no point anyway. All we do is go around and around again in a big, annoying circle. If all you're gonna do is insult me, you may as well just stop talking." Swanpaw raised her head slightly, deciding that for once she would take the high road. Kind of.
