mudpaw sighed as he stared at his reflection in the river, his white paw dangling in it and making small ripples as it moved. he had been sitting there for what felt like forever, thinking about what had been happening recently, specifically the last time he saw brightwing. he flattened his ears and pressed his pink nose into his fur, closing his green eyes tightly. it was so tempting to start crying, but he knew it was stupid. he wasn't going to let himself do that just because he had been told to 'go away'. he let out a soft whine at the sound of nearby footsteps, trying to cover and hide himself in the reeds.

Swanfrost was exhausted. Mostly physically, but mentally she was drained too. She was trying so hard to keep building relationships, and just trying to change in general. Cats didn't seem to appreciate her personality much, and she didn't want a bunch of enemies. Heading towards the river she hesitated at the scent of another cat. She definitely recognized it. She moved forward more slowly, ears flattening when she heard a soft whine. She didn't think any other cat would have caught it, but her ears were rather large. She blinked as something rustled in the reeds, snorting. "No need to go into hiding, I just want a drink."

mudpaw flattened his ears even further to his head, if that was possible, and replied to the familiar voice quietly, watching the owner through the reeds, "i'd rather you not see me anyway," he frowned, twitching his scarred tail tip, "just hurry up and drink then leave me alone, then," he snapped suddenly, face turning into a scowl.

Swanfrost raised a brow, curious. "And why not?" She moved forward slowly, crouching down in front of the reeds that sheltered his body. "I can do whatever I please, thank you." She scoffed.

mudpaw growled softly and emerged from the reeds, his green eyes now glaring at swanfrost, "because i want to be left alone," he explained simply, turning around and kicking some dirt in the white warrior's direction. "you're welcome," he grumbled, sitting down again with his back towards the other cat.

Swanfrost blinked, standing straighter. She was certainly intrigued. "Why?" She raised a brow, clearly not leaving anytime soon.
Swanfrost scowled as dirt was thrown in her face, lip twitching. She could either scream at the top of her lungs, kill him, or wash it off. She certainly liked the middle one, but shook the thought away, which was actually shaking the dirt away. "Why thank you, you're so kind to share some lovely dirt with me head." She snarled passive aggressively, moving towards the water. She swiped a paw at him, sending a shower of cold towards him.

mudpaw hissed loudly to himself, "just because! okay?" he exclaimed, slightly stressed.
the young cat smirked slightly to himself when swanfrost scowled at the dirt, although it didn't last long as freezing cold water was suddenly thrown all over him. he let out a growl, but didn't say much else, "lovely," he stated, making his way back into the reeds and covering himself in them again.

Swanfrost blinked, unamused. She weighed her options, letting out a deep breath through her nose. "Aww, is muddy have some personal issues?" She pouted, following after him.
Swanfrost sat down in the reeds obnoxiously close to him, patting his back with a hint of awkwardness. "There there." She smirked.

mudpaw shrugged at swanfrost's question- he wasn't sure if she was being sarcastic or not, but still took slight offense anyway at the suggestion that he might need her help.
he shuffled away from her a little when she sat so close to him, letting out a small grumble as he curled up and spiked his wet fur, "don't touch me," he snapped, lashing his tail.

"Jeez, you act like I have the plague." Swanfrost mused, though moved away from him like he had said. She curled up near him, tucking her tail around her small frame. "So what's up? Some she cat break your heart? Or maybe a tom? I don't judge." She winked.

"you don't have the plague, you are the plague," he grumbled, flicking a white-tipped ear and staring over his shoulder as she lay down next to him.
"no," he bit, letting out an angry sigh at swanfrost's wink, "why do you care anyway?" he said, voice indicating a challenge.

Swanfrost rolled her light blue eyes, ears flattening against her head. She decided to ignore his comment though, knowing that it wasn't worth arguing over.
Noticing the challenge in his tone she raised a brow, blinking slowly. "Aww, poor little you. Let me guess, negative self image? No self esteem? Heart breaking history?" She didn't directly answer his question, keeping up with the sarcasm instead.

mudpaw growled loudly and stood up again, digging his claws into the ground, "no, no, and no," he hissed, lashing his long tail repeatedly in an attempt to hit her with the wet fur.
"get away from me," he grumbled, walking away a few steps.

Swanfrost moved toward him, taking a step forward every time he took a step back. "Then what is it? Huh? Spit it out." She demanded, tail lashing. She didn't care that she was getting wet, it didn't matter.

mudpaw shrugged again, mumbling, "social life, i guess," he said, growling softly to himself.
