Raccoonkit froze mid bite, swallowed, and reluctantly padded over to Foxtwist. The brown tabby was comforted to have Icepaw and Rainpaw. Although she hadn't seen her littermates, she was sure they would be along. She sat down next to Icepaw and nodded in response to him. They were close enough their fur brushed each other's. Raccoonkit purred, cloaking her worry. It would do her no good; as it would do her no good to bring up the fact that Bluebellkit had ignored her.
Rainpaw came over too and Raccoonkit glanced at her. The usually strong she-it was unusually quiet. Raccoonkit mused over this for a second. She reminded herself that everyone needed a big of encouragement. The brown tabby let her fluffy tail rest on Rainpaw's shoulder and she purred again.
"Yes, what can we do?" she glanced up to Foxtwist awaiting the warrior's instruction.

Now that the clan was gathering, Cloverstar jumped down from the Stonefang and briskly walked about to mentally count everyone. Most seemed to be present other than Anemonemist, who was presumably still in the medicine den, although there was a nagging feeling at the back of her head that there was someone missing. Irritatingly, however, she couldn't figure out just who it could be. She was sure that everyone seemed to be accounted for.
She headed towards the front of the line at the entrance and cleared her throat. "Everyone, please follow me within the next few minutes," she called out. "Stay within the line and stay together. We will be walking for quite a while, so now is the time if you need to eat something or make dirt."
Cloverstar anxiously looked around again. She preferred that they leave as quickly as possible, but she couldn't shake the feeling that someone she'd forgotten about was missing.

Jollyberry padded towards the entrance, keeping an eye out for his family. None of his grand-children were anywhere to be seen but he was sure their mother would be taking care of them. Lyricwhisper had already left ahead of the clan but he wasn't sure where she'd gone. He didn't doubt she'd catch up eventually though.
Trying to make himself busy he headed for Foxtwist and the kits that had collected around her. He didn't like the sight. She shouldn't have taken on so many by herself, there was no way she could keep an eye on all of them and her apprentice at the same time. With a flick of his tail he signaled them. "Stay close to us and save your energy. If you notice anyone falling behind or hurt, let us know and we'll take care of it." If the kits wandered off on their ow it was likely a hawk or some other predator would scoop them up, just like they'd taken him seasons ago, then known as Lionkit. He'd been lucky enough to survive it, but it had taken seasons to return to his home.

"Sure." she told the new warrior who had walked up seemingly to help her mom. How kind of him. "What's your name though?" she asked so in case she did notice something she knew who to call.

Foxtwist narrowed her eyes, annoyed. She had no trust for Cloverstar, and she didn't appreciate the gesture from Snailtail. She would take care of her own kits, without the help of this tom. She ignored him, and turned back to Rainpaw and Icepaw. She knew that Rainpaw's mentor had hardly done anything with her, and didn't expect much from that relationship on this journey.
"Rainpaw, I'm going to need your help. You're an apprentice now, I need to to make sure your siblings stick together. They look up to you," she said with a nod. She then turned to Icepaw. "I know this is going to be hard for you. Why don't you try to hang close to Snailtail, and let me know if you need anything." Although she did care about her apprentice, she would obviously put her children first. She glanced over at Snailtail, and flicked her tail in his direction.

Raccoonkit's claws dug into the ground. Kits were not useless. She inhaled slowly to keep her voice level when she spoke, "Why don't we pair up?" Raccookit admitted to herself that it probably wasn't the best idea and doubted that anyone would second her idea.

Bluebellkit kit doubted the other kit had been asking to pair up with her, but she shrugged and nodded anyway. "I think that would make a lot of sense." she admitted to Racconkit.

Jollyberry glanced down at Bluebellkit, his gaze softening somewhat. "My name is Jollyberry," he told her gently, absently wondering if she would have heard of him. He doubted it, the clan rarely told stories of him and Lyricwhisper these days, likely so as to keep the rest of the clan from gossiping too much. At least, that was what he hoped was the case.
He briefly caught the sour look on Foxtwist's face but elected to ignore it. He was escorting children, not trying to win a popularity contest. He couldn't even begin to imagine why Foxtwist had been allowed to procreate in the first place. His fur ruffled somewhat at her words and his gaze sharpened as she used the name of his recently dead son instead of his own. He wanted to yell at it, to demand she learn some respect for her deceased clanmates, but now was hardly the time. Rather he had more things to worry about, like her poor decision making. He already didn't trust her as a mother. She'd managed to lose her daughter Flickerkit after all, and nobody had seen the poor thing since. Anyone that could manage that was a terrible mother in his opinion.
Raccoonkit and Icepaw clearly seemed close, and it also seemed like Icepaw was already suffering from anxiety. It was a needlessly cruel idea to separate them and Jollyberry huffed at the she-cat's petty possessiveness. "Icepaw come stand by me, Raccoonkit you can walk beside him too if you like. I think he may appreciate your company." He sent a smile and a wink in their direction then glanced at Bluebellkit, who had also offered to pair up with them. "And if you want to follow Raccoonkit that is ok too. We're all going to be walking together anyway."

Post by Redfern on Mar 27, 2017 23:30:14 GMT -6
Redfern sat about and waited as cats shuffled into place one by one. She noticed with a pang how few of her family members were actually still around. They used to be so many. Hopefully Rockclan would be able to grow again in their new home. Now all they had to do was leave. She had done so much in the old Rockclan camp, it had been her sanctuary after Fear had died. They had traveled there together when he was asked to become deputy by Venomstar, and even though she'd feared she'd be turned away, Redfern had been welcomed. Now she was deputy, just like her deceased mate before her, and she hoped he was proud of her.
Her memories were shattered by the sound of squabbling nearby. Anger flared as she noticed Jollyberry and Foxtwist talking together over the heads of a group of kits an apprentices. This was an evacuation, certainly not an appropriate time to be arguing. Hurrying over, Redfern quickly set about setting matters straight. "Icepaw and Raccoonkit walk with Jollyberry. Rainpaw and Bluebellkit walk with Foxtwist please. Warriors keep an eye on your charges, this is no time for petty squabbles." Her gaze zeroed in on both the ginger warrior and her own son. A warning that if such behavior continued during their journeys they would both have to deal with very real punishments later.
With the matter settled Redfern hurried away to double check they weren't missing anyone. Anemonemist was nowhere to be seen and neither was Brackensky. Cloverstar seemed to be hesitating as well and as Redfern padded towards her she sent her leader a questioning glance.

Icepaw felt a little nervous, there was so much commotion and they were still just in camp! Foxtwist's tone made him a little uneasy, but he also knew that she must be very worried for her kits; after all, she had already lost one. He knew that it wasn't the same, but he would hate to see his siblings in potential danger--wherever they were.
He inched close to Jollyberry, following his mentor's instructions. Despite being on edge, Icepaw blinked at the warrior sympathetically. He could tell that Jollyberry was just trying to help, having lost his own kit so recently he was sure the tom would be sensitive to the safety of RockClan's offspring. I'll have to offer my condolences once this journey is over, the pale tabby hadn't wanted to intervene during the vigil, having not known Snailtail personally. The apprentice jumped as Redfern spoke out, noticing the tension between the warriors, flattening the fur along his spine as he was put under Jollyberry's charge along with Raccoonkit. He was comfortable with this arrangement--well, as comfortable as he could be given the situation--being with an expierienced warrior and his friend would, he thought, make the travel just a little less nerve-wracking.

Raccoonkit nodded at Bluebellkit. "Thank you for acknowledging me. I'm also glad you think it's a good idea." Raccoonkit blinked. She was about to suggest that they pair up when the situation between Foxtwist and Jollyberry took a turn for the worst. Immediately, Raccoonkit decided that she wasn't about to get in between them; there must be some history that made those two disagree. Just before Redfern came Raccoonkit wondered if she would be like that when she became a warrior. She hoped not.
At Redfern's decisive action, which Raccoonkit appreciated, the dark brown tabby walked over to Jollyberry and Icepaw. She called a goodbye to Bluebellkit, whom she had just met, and hoped the journey would be kind to her.
"I'm glad we are traveling together," she mentioned to Icepaw. She noted how close he was to Jollyberry. Amber eyes looked up at Jollyberry, "Hello, I don't remember your name." The kit's eyes glared up at Jollyberry. "I'm bad with names," she licked in her chest in embarrassment. Well, whomever this tom was, she was glad to be walking beside her friend and a warrior who knew what he was doing. She hoped that she could learn a lot from him, enough to make her a great apprentice when the time came.

Beetlekit was rather confused. She was very new to the world, and didn't understand all the commotion. She trotted out of the nursery, her small stature blending in with everyone else. She blinked, wide amber eyes looking for a familiar face. She took a few unsure steps back, lip trembling with all the confusion. She didn't say anything, instead standing back and watching, her stance small. Why were they leaving? What was going on? She licked her lips, growing anxious. Where was her mom? She couldn't seem to locate her, and considering she had never left the nursery before, she didn't know anyone else. She wanted to cry out, but was to shy to do so. It was unlikely she would be noticed, considering she was pressing her small frame into the ground, as if she was trying to hide.

Bell nodded, her gaze traveling after the issue was solved and landing on a lone kitten, almost as small as she was. "You lost in this mess?" she asked Beetlekit.

Beetlekit blinked in surprise as Bluebellkit spoke to her, shrinking down even further. She opened her mouth to say something, quickly closing it. She hesitantly nodded her head, looking around at the swarm of her clanmates. 'Lost' didn't even begin to describe what she was feeling.

Brackensky actually hadn't been in camp when Cloverstar's call came. She was rather fond of walks, disliking being cramped in camp... So, she tended to go on walks whenever she could. Usually at night, when her kits were all asleep. So, when she approached the camp entrance, seeing Cloverstar standing right inside, she was a tad confused. Looking past the Rockclan leader, she could see... Basically the entire clan all in a straight line. She approached Cloverstar and tilted her head. " Are we moving today...?" She asked quietly, not wanting to get any details wrong.
