Raccoonkit nodded. The situation turned from lighthearted fun to a serious personality conversation. For a moment Raccoonkit wondered if the other kit thought Raccoonkit was too emotionally strong or intense. She decided not to mention it. The air seemed rigid around them and she wished to loosen it up.
Another growl sounded from her belly. "Please forgive my belly," Raccoonkit had a mirthful tone in her voice. "It would seem I forgot to eat breakfast." At the edge of the pile Raccoonkit paced. She didn't know what to pick. Her inquisitive gaze found Beetlekit, "What sounds good to you?" Raccoonkit was trying to be fair again. She hoped it made Beetlekit feel included. Raccoonkit thought that kindness could go a long way.

"How can you forget to eat?" Beetlekit questioned with a mrrow of laughter, allowing the tension to ease our. She felt like she could breath better now. She really was confused at how you could completely forget a meal? It didn't make any sense to her.
Beetlekit blinked, looking to Raccoonkit, then to the pile of prey. "Umm, do you like rats?" That was personally her favourite prey, but she would only pick it if Raccoonkit liked them too.

Brown and tabby fur seemed to flatten against Raccoonkit's body. "I get excited by my ideas and neglect myself. This morning I was really excited to play a game of moss ball. I'm glad I did or I wouldn't have met you." Raccoonkit purred. Her amber gaze found Beetlekit's; the black kit looked deep in thought. She felt like Beetlekit was thinking her silly, but Raccoonkit didn't mind. Forgetting a meal was unlike her. It just happened at times.
"Rats?" Raccoonkit thoughtfully narrowed her eyes at Beetlekit. "I admit that is one prey I haven't tried yet." Raccoonkit sniffed at it. The scent was not unpleasant. She decided she would try it. Rats must be delicious if Beetlekit liked them. "Which one do you think would taste the best?" Raccoonkit expectantly looked at Beetlekit.

Beetlekit was tempted to scold her for it, but quickly decided against it. After all, she still didn't know her that well and she had a feeling a scolding wouldn't teach her anything anyways, so there was no point. Besides, Raccoonkit was to be an apprentice soon, she was sure her bad habits would fade eventually.
"You've never tried rat?" Beetlekit questioned in disbelief, her eyes widening dramatically. She took matters into her own paws, moving forward to snatch the plummets one of the pile. "Where should we eat?" She questioned, looking around for a more secluded spot. She found that the big rat was hard to carry, and half of its body was dragging on the ground.

Raccoonkit could Beetlekit's mind working. The brown tabby was amazed when all the black kit was one sentence. "I haven't," Raccoonkit admitted again. "It never looked appealing to me." She wouldn't admit to Beetlekit that she had never tried it because rats looked disgusting. Their naked tails unnerved her.
"I don't have a preference," Raccoonkit uttered. She viewed around the camp. There was a secluded spot on the camp's wall. It was an overhang. "Why don't we eat up there?" she indicated the overhang with her tail. Raccoonkit bit into the rat's rump near the tail and lifted. Its tail was on the ground, but she didn't mind.

Beetlekit shook her head lightly. To her, rats were the best looking prey in the pile. Perhaps she shouldn't have picked it though, Raccoonkit didn't seemed so thrill to eat something like that.
Beetlekit followed her gaze over to the overhang, swallowing thickly. Although it wasn't very far up, that would still mean she had to jump to get on. She dropped the upper body of the rat, trusting that Raccoonkit was big enough to carry it. She wiggled her haunches before leaping, landing on the overhang. She managed to get all three legs on, dragging the other one up afterwards. She looked down at Raccoonkit, grinning.

Raccoonkit's head dipped for a second; the extra weight of the rat was unexpected. She recovered, holding her head high to reassure herself that she wasn't as week as she felt.
Her amber eyes looked over Beetlekit. She felt bad for not thinking about Beetlekit's size. Comfort washed over the older kit as she watched Beetlekit safely make it. Raccoonkit's pride and encouragement shone in her eyes. A loud purr sounded from the older she-kit.
It was her turn next. The overhang was about a tail-length from the ground. Raccoonkit doubted that she could successfully make the jump with a large rat in her mouth. Its paws were touching the ground. Raccoonkit eyed the ledge that Beetlekit was on. She didn't know if the black kit had the strength to pull it up so she made her choice. Raccoonkit lowered her head then snapped it back. Its head and upper half made it over the ledge. Raccoonkit stood on her back legs to head but it. The lower half of the rat it onto the ledge with the tail dangling. Raccoonkit then gracefully jumped up.

Beetlekit watched with surprise as Raccoonkit threw the rat up, a small smile finding its way on her face. She had to admit, it was kind of cool. She moved over slightly so that Raccoonkit had enough space once she followed her up, dragging the mouse closer to them both.
"You can take the first bite." She nodded towards the Rosen encouragingly, hoping that she would enjoy it as much as she did. Although she wouldn't be offended if Raccoonkit didn't like it, she knew a lot of cats didn't enjoy the taste of rat.

Raccoonkit lowered herself, her fluffy fur laid on top of the ground with her. She subtly scented the rat again. Amber eyes found amber eyes. Unease showed in her eyes. Raccoonkit was great at meeting new cats, but trying new prey was a whole new thing. She shook her head and took a bite. It tasted like rotten bird. Raccoonkit swallowed and took another bite from a different part of the animal. This section wasn't much better. She wondered how Beetlekit liked this thing.
"It tastes weird?" Raccoonkit questioned herself as much as she asked Beetlekit. "Is that how it is supposed to taste?" Raccoonkit took another bite. Maybe rat was an acquired taste. It did taste little bit better that time.

Beetlekit blinked as their eyes found each other, nodding her head slightly with a smile. She watched as Raccoonkit took a bite, frowning slightly as she watched her reaction. Beetlekit took a bite out of it herself, purring with content. "That's exactly how it should taste.... You don't like it?" She questioned, her eyes wide with confusion. It tasted perfect to her, what was the problem?
Beetlekit treated herself to another bite, playing around with the rays long tail as she did so. She laid down, tucking her front paws under her chest so she had better access to the prey she had chosen. "I could get you something else if you wanted?" She offered, not wanting her to be stuck with something she didn't like.

Raccoonkit felt reassured by Beetlekit's smile. She paused before answering Beetlekit honestly, "It's weird, but I think it is okay." Raccoonkit took another bite. Rat left a peculiar taste in her mouth. One she didn't like, but didn't hate. "There isn't a problem," Raccoonkit quickly answered Beetlekit.
Shaking her head no seemed to shake all of her neck fur with her. "Nonsense. I can eat something that isn't my favorite." Raccoonkit took another bite of rat and swallowed. "I think I'll grow to like it," she purred to reassure Beetlekit. She didn't want to hurt Beetlekit's feelings, but deny her taste buds. Raccoonkit did think she could grow to like it and didn't want to waste the rat that they had picked.

"If you're sure." Beetlekit shrugged. She would have gladly brought the rest of the rat to the elders, though if Raccoonkit was fine with it then she would leave it be. Besides, she wasn't sure that she wanted to jump down off the ledge. It seemed higher now that she was resting on top of it.
Beetlekit tried to think of some kind of conversation, gnawing on the inside of her cheek in thought. "What's your favourite prey?" She questioned, looking over towards Raccoonkit. It wasn't the most creative question, but it would have to do for now. She would eventually learn to talk more.

Raccoonkit nodded. She followed Beetlekit's gaze. The brown tabby didn't think about how the small black kit would get down. Raccoonkit instantly felt bad; she rested her fluffy tail on her friend's shoulder. She would help Beetlekit get down. Surely there was another ledge that she could jump to then down to the ground. Raccoonkit would be sure to look when they were ready to go back to the nursery.
The older kit hadn't noticed until now, but the sun was low in the western sky.
Amber eyes found Beetlekit when Raccoonkit heard her speak. "My favorite is squirrel," the brown tabby purred. "I hope I'll learn how to catch them when I'm apprenticed. Maybe I'll even sleep in a tree!"

Beetlekit was pulled back to reality as Raccoonkits tail rested on her shoulders, forcing a small smile on her face to reassure her she was fine. If she could get up, she was positive she could get down. Probably.
"Does Rockclan even have trees?" Beetlekit purred in amusement. "Maybe you should go live in Treeclan." She bumped Raccoonkits shoulder playfully, her thin tail flicking. Beetlekit turned towards the lowering sun, her eyes shining in the light. She always thought it was pretty when it began its descent.

"I'm sure there a few trees on this territory and there must be some in the new territory once we start this journey," Raccoonkit mused as she wrapped her tail around her. The brown tabby curled her paws underneath her. It looked like her legs disappeared. She released a mrrow of laughter at Beetlekit's words. "I'd like to see what their territory looks like from the border." Raccoonkit lifted her head, pretending to smell. "I wonder what the other clans smell like."
Raccoonkit eyed the setting sun, "Isn't the sunset pretty?"
