Willowpaw made no attempt to hide her contempt as Brightwing's name was called, her lip curling and her ears flattening. Of course her sister would be chosen to lead a patrol when Willowpaw wasn't even on one. Whatever. She didn't want to go to RockClan anyways, and maybe she'd get lucky and Brightwing would fall and die.
No one appreciated her. Willowpaw worked far harder than her siblings did- She caught more prey, fought with more skill, and ate less. It took her three mentors to complete her training, and she still wasn't a warior.
Of course Oceanstar hadn't chosen her- He probably hated her, like everyone else.
The mottled she-cat's eyes darkened with anger, concealing her hurt, and she stepped backwards, retreating into a shadowy edge of camp.

Sparkpaw shifted in surprise when Oceanstar announced he would be joining one of the patrols. Me? he wasn't too sure how to feel about this, especially once he learned that Swanfrost would be the other cat in his patrol with Oceanstar. He would've preferred being on the patrol with his sister, he still hadn't confronted his mentor about the situation with Swanfrost and he knew that this probably wouldn't be the best pace to do so. Not telling Oceanstar was starting to bother the tom though, if felt wrong to be withholding information from the clan leader.
Still, he wasn't going to refuse an opportunity to help his clan. Plus, it had boosted his ego a bit knowing that he was the only apprentice to have been picked for either of the patrols.
"Thanks for letting me come," the orange apprentice mewed as he met up with his mentor, excitement beginning to fill his eyes as he thought about what they were going to do.

Swanfrost nodded happily, glad she had been assigned a patrol. When Willowpaws name wasn't called she frowned, flashing her friend a sympathetic smile. She was a little annoyed that Oceanstar had chosen his own apprentice to accompany them instead of Willowpaw, considering that she was much older and more experienced. She supposed it didn't make a difference what she thought.

i must become a lionheart
Batpaw padded to the head of the clan and quietly dipped his head. Oceanstar had summoned him earlier and for once the cheerful tom was being surprisingly morose. He knew what was coming and he was excited for it, but would miss the new friends he had made. Sparkpaw and Almondfire chief among them. He would have liked to complete his training with Almondfire but it had taken too long and he had to be going.
The tom quietly took a seat with his head held high as he waited for Oceanstar to address him. The matter of moving the Fireclan border was incredibly interesting as well and something he would be sure to tell Fallenstar once he arrived back home.

The patrols weren't originally planned the way he'd made them. He'd wanted to take both apprentices with him, but then the matter of Batpaw had arisen and it had needed to be taken care of. After all he couldn't keep the Iceclan apprentice around forever. According to Batpaw's review Almondfire had done a stellar job training him and Oceanstar was pleased enough to send the tom home.
The tortoiseshell gave Batpaw a nod as he approached then began looking around for the cat he'd selected. As first he didn't see her but eventually spotted Willowspirit skulking in the shadows. The apprentice was experienced, just as Brightwing had been when Oceanstar had tested her as well. Now he was curious to see how she would handle it, but he had his doubts. From what he'd noted and heard of Willowpaw, and from the attitude she was displaying presently, there was a lot to be desired. He tried to catch her attention with a flick of his tail. "Finally, as a last issue, it is time for Batpaw to return home. Willowpaw you will act as his escort back to the Iceclan camp. Ensure he leaves Fireclan territory safely and return home when you are able."
The trip to Iceclan camp up the icy mountains was generally dangerous and would take time. He wouldn't be surprised if Willowpaw had to end up staying the night, but as long as Fallenstar had no issues he didn't care too much. He tried to catch Willowpaw's eye and nodded. The most important thing here was that Batpaw leave the territory and not return. He didn't mind the tom, but he was still Iceclan and technically still a threat. He trusted Willowpaw was capable enough to deal with it though.

Almondfire had been late, well because she didn't think that a meeting was this important. She had been listening from the corners of the camp, thinking that it was best to stay there. Her ears flattened when her sister was called to lead a patrol to RockClan. Anger blazed in her eyes but Almondfire didn't speak up.
For the first time, the she-cat seemed sad. Batpaw had been a nice cat, one that she could actually tolerate. Almondfire was kinda sad that he was leaving but he was an IceClan apprentice. What really angered her was that Willowpaw had been chosen to take the tom back to his own clan. Well probably for the best, she herself might accidentally attack the IceClan cats if they said something she didn't like.

Willowpaw's eyes widened in surprise as her name was called out, and she felt her stomach twist. It didn't make sense that she would be chosen for such an important task, unless Oceanstar purposely wanted her to fail, so that he would have a reason to exile her. However, if something went wrong, it could potentially cause a war between IceClan and FireClan, and Willowpaw wasn't sure that he was willing to risk that.
She realized that she still hadn't responded, and had been sitting there, looking dumb-founded for several heartbeats. "Uh," The silver she-cat's mouth was dry and she swallowed, hard. "Okay. I mean, thank you, Oceanstar. I'll do my best." Perhaps this would be a chance to prove her worth to the clan.
Assuming that Oceanstar wanted her to leave as quickly as possible, Willowpaw looked out across the camp for Batpaw, and upon recognizing the IceClan cat, quietly padded up to him, flicking her tail in greeting.

i must become a lionheart Batpaw glanced around as he was submitted to Willowpaw's charge, searching for the she-cat. He found her easily enough and flagged his tail in greeting. Before he could move towards her he spotted Almondfire and smiled. Batpaw bounded towards his old mentor and brushed his cheek against hers in farewell. "Let's meet again sometime," he declared quietly so as not to seem too disloyal. He had a feeling Oceanstar still didn't trust him, with fair reason.
With a last nod of goodbye he turned and padded to Wllowpaw. "Ok, I'm ready."
