| I t was a truely marvelous day. The breeze ruffled the fur slightly, in just the loveliest way. The flowers blew gentle in the soft wind, and the grass swayed carelessly. Winter sat in the middle of this beautiful field, sharpening his claws on a rock.
He did not speak, he had no thoughts. He just sat, sharpening his claws with an eerie silence suspended around him. The only noises were that of trees ruffling in the wind, grass blades swaying against each other, and the dreadful sound of scraping claws.
Winter suddenly looked up. Out of the corner of his eye, he had spotted a white form. Sure enough, when he looked up, he saw a white she-cat a ways away. His blue gaze pierced through the air as she met her glance. He stared, if not a bit creepily, at the cat, to see what it would do.

(That's fine Chasity hadn't even noticed the other cat gazing her, and on the rather quiet day she didn't not hear a news due to the fact she had a few hearing issues. As she turned in the direction of her den, she gazed at the ground, so she still didn't notice the cat until she was acctually close enough to see in her perrifical vision. "Hello," she greeted with a smile.

| A fter she greeted him, Winter made no response and went back to sharpening his claws, thinking multiple thoughts of death that would be better not to write down.
Though, he thought her somewhat sweet and not the kind of cat you would kill. And so, after a bit more of sharpening his claws, he stopped, put his paw on the ground, and gazed back up at her.

Chasity had begun making her way past, but turned as he placed his paw down. Was he going to acknowledge her? Sure it was up to him, but she wouldn't mind a conversation.

| A fter a few more thoughts went through his head, Winter finally said something. "What are you doing here," he asked in a calm tone. It had a hint of menace to it, but not much. He did not want to scare this cat away, but instead perhaps have a conversation. However, he was not one to talk.

Chasity shrugged. "I was taking a walk. My den is in this direction."

| W inter casually went back to sharpening his claws. It seemed as if she didn't have much to say, and he didn't either. Every now and then, he would peer at them to see if they were sharp enough. His right claws seemed deadly sharp, so he went on to his left ones.

Chasity tilted he head. "You're a fighter, I assume?" she asked, nodding her head towards his deadly sharp claws. "I dodn't much care for fighting, blood made me dizzy."

| "Y ou would assume correctly," Winter said as he inspected his left paw, then set it down as he thought they looked sharp enough. "I don't fight for fun, and I wouldn't really call it fighting."
He killed, was the better word. He didn't like it, nor enjoy it, but that's just what he did. If someone needed another dead, he was probably the cat to tell. But this she-cat didn't need to know that.

(I'm laughing my head off right now. People keep quoting my books without noticing it.) Chasity shook her head. "I doubt you wouldn't. Fighting is anything that causes damage, mental or physical," she said quietly.

| W inter met her gaze calmly again. Fighting was something that caused pain. It not only hurt the other, but it also hurt you. The first time he had been sent to kill, he couldn't get the face of the cat out of his head.
Winter shook his head and furrowed his brow. He didn't care much for fighting only. "I don't like blood, either," he admitted.

(Close enough to it anyway. The book she was based on, Virtue by Amanda Hawking.) Cassie shook her head. "Blood is good, it lets us live, but it's bad when it leaves the body. It becomes stains everything near it."

| W inter gave her a queer look, obviously relating to her in a way he hadn't related to anyone else. "It's worse when it comes from your own claws," he said, looking down at his pure white claws. They had done a few horrible things.
Again, he shook his head to rid it of the memories. He had been trying to change, to become someone different. He wouldn't be who he had been. He was his own, now.

| "W inter," he said smoothly. He had grown to like saying his own name, which might be a bit self-centered. However, he had a good reason.
Way back when, he couldn't let anyone know his true name. He would have aliases set up for him, and he would always go by something other than Winter. But he had defeated his captors, and now he could say it as he pleased.
