@winterr Rose padded alongside the polluted river, feeling calm and at peace, like she usually did inside of DeathClan's borders. She had just caught a water vole, and her stomach was full and warm with fresh prey. The tabby she-cat made sure to stay several tail-lengths away from the riverbank, grateful that she was able to hunt without having to touch the water, still uncomfortable with it since her accident.
She kept an eye out for Pain, getting slightly impatient, and wanting to assume her role of leader as quickly as possible. Rose wasn't in too much of a hurry, though, since she knew it would happen eventually, and when it did, the wait would be well worth it.
Spotting a new cat, one she hadn't met before, Rose approached them with glinting eyes. "Hello, there," The she-cat mewed smoothly. "Who are you?" She was looking forward to making more allies.

| T he day had been alright, in Winter's opinion. He sat alongside a riverbank, but not too close as he didn't fancy getting his pelt wet. He watched as the water rippled around stoned and eddied along the bank.
After some silence, his sharp ears picked up the sound of pawsteps, which was followed shortly by a scent. A scent of which belonged to a cat he hadn't met, but he wasn't surprised. He didn't turn his head as she approached, only did he do so when she spoke to him.
Why did all these cats like to talk? His gaze swept quickly over her. She was strong, she would be a worthy opponent in battle. His eyes caught on all her scars. Winter wondered what happened. If they were to get in a fight, he would have difficulty trying to kill her, no doubt.
He shook his head. He had to get these programmed thoughts from them. Without smiling, and with a piercing gaze that held no threat, he answered her question with one word. "Winter."

Rose felt that the way he looked at her was fairly strange, and she could not fathom to guess what was going on in the dark tom's head. That was fine with her, some things were always better being left unsaid.
"Nice to meet you, Winter." The brown and cream she-cat dipped her head politely, a mystic look in her eyes which implied that she also had some degree of hidden emotions working in her mind, behind her expression.
She waved her tail, getting straight to the point. "What do you think of the leader here, Pain?" Rose was not going to start throwing around treasonous ideas without first knowing where this cats loyalties lie.

| W inter shifted his cold gaze back to the dirty water ahead of him. He began to form an opinion in his mind about the scarred tom. He seemed as if he didn't know what he was doing. He lead only because others didn't step up. He might be easy to kill.
But instead of speaking much of his mind, Winter answered with a few simple words. "I have no opinion," he said, in case this cat might be on Pain's side. "He leads because no one steps up." At least that would venture into the against side, but not too much. The other cat, if she was for Pain, might not pick up on the hint.

Rose nodded thoughtfully, and was silent for a few moments, choosing her next words carefully. "Apparently, he blinded the past leader, Ash, but I don't think she wasn't too qualified either." Rose had actually had the pleasure of meeting Ash, and the she-cat was fine, she supposed, but she was not fit to rule DeathClan.
"But anyways, would you mind if someone were to step up and overthrow him?" Rose was clearly talking about herself, her icy eyes narrowed and glinting intensely. She unsheathed her long, tough claws, holding up a paw to look at them.

| W inter stole a glance at her. She was observing her claws, and so her previous question referred to her. Winter had grown to read body language quite throughly, but he still played along.
"I wouldn't mind," he stated. He had never met Pain, and wouldn't mind if the older cat left. He wasn't too qualified to be leader. He was only intimidating. "A new leader would do good for us." Winter was sure if that was true. Surely, they could simply live as loners. Some did, away from the dens and camps of the strange clan, while others were right up in the action. He preferred to keep his distance, but it seemed as if the action caught up to him.

"Good." Having properly inspected her claws, Rose sheathed them and set her paw back down on the cool ground. She tilted her head to the side, still a bit cautious, though she was certain by now that Winter would not protest her plans of leadership.
"Most of the cats I've talked to seem displeased with his leadership," Rose commented. "I'd like to rule DeathClan, and I want to strengthen us, make it so that the Clans fear us again." The scarred she-cat stated outright.

| W inter smiled, not really knowing exactly why. He always liked being feared, but sometimes that left one lonely. At least he now had a clan that would be feared with him. He wouldn't be alone.
Shaking old memories from his head, Winter continued to calmly stare ahead. His tone was smooth, and he still said things simply and without much words. "That would be better for us," he said. Maybe if a cat who had known him before saw him now and spread the word, it perhaps wouldn't affect him.

It seemed that this would be easier than she thought. So far, no one had challenged her, and most cats agreed that there needed to be a change of leader. The hardest part would likely be convincing Pain to give up his position, but eventually it would be done.
Rose nodded. "Do I have your support? You don't really have to do anything, just don't attack me. Maybe I'll ask you to go into battle, if I decide to attack a clan."

| W inter let out a sigh and looked back over at her. "I can't promise that I won't ever attack you, but you do have my support." Then, he stood to his full height and stretch, his muscles rippled under his fur.
"And, killing seems to be my specialty, and I can't avoid that." By saying this, he meant that he would fight alongside her into a battle.

Rose didn't think she could do any better than that, so she nodded her head in agreement. If they ever did fight, she felt fairly confident that she would be able to come out on top, but she'd prefer if it didn't have to come to that.
"So you've killed cats before? Why?" She tilted her head.

| W inter shrugged. He really didn't have a clue why they made him kill other cats as a living, but it got easier and easier the more he was made to do it. Every once in a while, the first cat he ever killed comes back in his head, but he can usually shake it off.
"I was made to, but I'd rather not go back on that path," he said plainly. They had also taught him to be a stone. He could be as plain and boring as any other average cat. But the one thing that bothered him was how he was taught to hide his emotions, and still, he wore the mask.

"Oh." Rose stated simply. She knew that every cat here had a past, and Rose was no exception to that. In DeathClan, though, part of the beauty was that one's past didn't matter, all that mattered was actions. As long as Winter didn't go around killing cats, she was fine with him.
She was glad to forget about IceClan. Rose had never felt at home there, and from what she knew, her life had not been particularly happy.

| W inter sighed and padded closer to the water. It smelled, and he still didn't fancy getting his paws wet.
He didn't usually speak unless he was questioned, but now, he decided to say something. "Pain will put up a fight," he started, staring at his dark reflection. His eyes seemed to be glowing.

"I've heard." Rose said with a sigh, her tail brushing against the ground. She had never killed anyone before, but it was looking like, at this rate, she was going to have to. "I've been thinking of bringing a group of my supporters when I go to confront him. Maybe he'll see that his leadership isn't wanted, and he'll leave." Rose spoke hopefully, though she didn't believe her own words.
