The night was old, and dawn was already breaking. In the gray light, Loki seemed to blend in perfectly. His black coat mashed perfectly with the gray surroundings.
His keen eyes scanned the territory as he neared the border of Treeclan. His plans were to play with a few more unsuspecting cats' minds. He had already won some acquaintances that didn't trust him in anyway, and that was totally okay with him.
Loki sat down, his ears flicking. He picked up the faint sound of pawsteps nearing, and decided to wait to see who it was.

Squirrelpaw was hanging around the edge of TreeClan territory, looking for prey. She was starting to grow near old enough for her warrior assessment, and was training almost nonstop nowadays. While her hunting skills were fairly sharp, Squirrelpaw still hadn't learned any battle moves yet, meaning her fighting left a lot to be desired.
She'd been distracted by her hunt by the scent of an unfamiliar cat, and instinctively followed it. Going back to get backup would be useless because the strange cat could be gone by then. Squirrelpaw would handle it on her own.
Stepping out of the long grass, Squirrelpaw found herself facing a strange, darkly colored tom who was clearly not TreeClan, and yet he was in TreeClan territory.
"Sorry, we're closed for joining." She sneered, her claws unsheathing.

Loki smiled at this new cat. He already liked her, just by her first words to him. "Oh, I'm not here to join," he snapped back. His green eyes glinted with mischief. No, he had no plans to join a clan, ever. However, this cat didn't know that. He had noticed without looking down that she unsheathed her claws, and he did the same. He dug them into the dirt below him, pulling the warm earth through his paws, over and over, until he wore out the ground. Looking her over, he wondered if he'd ever been in a real battle before, but he would only attack if she made a first move.

"Good." Squirrelpaw didn't allow a shred of doubt to show for even a moment, looking at the older cat fairly calmly. Even when he unsheathed his claws, Squirrelpaw wasn't too threatened by him, getting the feeling that he wasn't here to attack her.
The wiry apprentice tilted her head. "Then what are you here for? Not to hunt on TreeClan land, I hope." Squirrelpaw thought it would be rather stupid of him to do so, because there were dozens of TreeClan cats, and only one of him.

Loki let out a small laugh. "And you, my dear, are wrong again." He thought for a second about acting out of his right mind. Sometimes that scared cats, and well, its not as if he was looking for friends. Maybe what was weird of him.
He flicked his tail calmly, before saying, "You have a beautiful head. It will complete my collection." He internally shuddered. If he ever had a head collection, it would drive him insane.

Squirrelpaw felt a rush of excitement, though she was easily able to conceal her glee, continuing to look at the strange cat with a reasonable amount of suspicion.
Upon hearing his next statement, the young apprentice couldn't help but feel a bit unsettled, but she knew better than to show any fear, and besides, this could be fun. Squirrelpaw lifted a paw, examining her abnormally long claws for a moment before looking back at him with disinterested.
"That's funny. I was just going to say that your tail would look perfect in mine." The idea of collecting cat parts didn't really bother Squirrelpaw as much as it should.

Loki smiled at the ground, a smile without teeth. At least she was playing his games. He always thought cats like this were the more interesting. Maybe, if she were a loner, they would be friends. However, she lived in a clan, and Loki had no interest in clans.
"That's very sweet of you," he said, flicking his tail. This didn't unsettle him in the least. He didn't believe a clan cat could collect tails, and so he let out a small laugh again.

"Thank you." Squirrelpaw flicked her tail. Although this cat interested her greatly, he seemed like far too much of a wildcard to ever be of use to her, and she was glad their relationship ended at the border.
"So," The wiry she-cat continued, stretching and allowing her well-developed muscles to show through her thin pelt. "Before you decapitate me, would you mind telling me why you are here?" Squirrelpaw asked. If he wasn't going to hunt or join, she didn't see what else there was to do in this area.

"Why does everyone always ask me this," Loki muttered under his breath. He was running out of ideas to say. He could go on with his strange story of collecting heads. That was a possibility.
"Just looking for a clan cat such as you to hang in my den," he said casually, and a little too carelessly. It was as if he killed cats everyday. He could, that was for sure, but he doesn't go around getting his paws dirty in that business. Plus, he didn't even have a den.

Squirrelpaw shrugged. "It's a valid question, I think." It was reasonable to be wary of strangers, especially since rogues tended to be more selfish and cruel than clan cats. Though, lately TreeClan had been acting like every cat was pure of heart, and it was so accepting that no wonder this loner wasn't taking the border seriously.
"Okay." Squirrelpaw blinked, not phased by his creative response. She daringly took a step closer, looking at him with a challenge in her eyes. "Take me to your den so you can hang me, I don't want to waste your time with talking."

Loki smiled. "Ooh, I don't think you'd like that too much," he said. He had no intentions whatsoever or killing her, but he wouldn't say that in her face.
((muse... it'll come back tomorrow))

"I don't think you know me well enough to make that assumption." Squirrelpaw retorted sharply with a twitch of her whiskers. She did not feel threatened by this cat for some reason- perhaps it was her own lack of self-preservation that was keeping her from turning tail. "You don't even know my name." She pointed out.

Loki nodded. "That is true, maybe I could ask you what it is, but I have a strange notion you won't tell me." He told his name to everyone. It wasn't a thing to hide, since he had nothing attached to it, really. He would, though, someday. Someday all cats would know his name before they even asked him what it was.
It used to be like that, in his old clan. But his old life was gone, and now his new life lay ahead like the mouth of a cave.

If this cat was going to kill her, then he would've done something besides talk by now. Although Squirrelpaw still regarded him warily, on the inside, she was fairly relaxed. "Hmm," Squirrelpaw pondered, an idea taking shape in her mind.
"Would you like to spar?" She tilted her head. If Beechroot wouldn't teach her how to fight, then she needed to learn somewhere. Squirrelpaw didn't expect for this loner to use sheathed claws, either, which made it much more exciting. "I can't take over TreeClan without any experience."

Loki blinked. So her 'mentor' wasn't teaching her how to fight, maybe? That was the most logical explanation, and she was basically asking Loki if he would teach her. Well sure he would, but she might get hurt in the process.
"What's wrong, someone not training you?" he asked with a smile and stood, swishing his tail. "Sure."
