I t had been two moons since Loki had been on the Treeclan border. Last time he saw Squirrelbite, two moons ago, he had told her he'd be there every new moon, but he hadn't kept that promise. Well, that wasn't entirely true. He had come, the first new moon, and Squirrelbite hadn't. Then Loki had gotten busy, and time seemed to tick away faster than he could catch it. So now, Loki sat on the border again, wondering if she would come. Much had happened since their last meeting, and he wanted to tell her, for some odd reason. It was probably as exciting as her getting her warrior name, if he was comparing. But personally, his news was both angering, exciting, and frustrating all at the same time, and it had left him with many questions, which he pondered nightly. And tonignt, as he flicked his tail lowly in the shadows, he was thinking about them again. Maybe Squirrelbite could give advice, Loki thought. But when was the last time he had asked someone else for advice. He thought for a moment, then discovered that he never had in his lifetime, and he didn't feel like breaking that streak. (( for Squirrelbite, and yes, i did some math and figured out loki is 12,840 moons old XD ))

Squirrelbite was extremely frustrated with how stagnant the rebellion had become, which was entirely the fault of Yellowburr, the group's leader. He had failed to bring enough cats together in favor of overthrowing Arrowstar, and he failed to make any decisive acts until the rebellion had died down enough that they had no chance of achieving their goals.
Now it was up to Squirrelbite to find a way to spin this into something advantageous, which wasn't as easy as it sounded. Squirrelbite was so preoccupied with her plans that she didn't notice the new moon had passed until a few days later.
Instead of dwelling on her mishap, Squirrelbite simply made sure that this time, she remembered. After the sun set, the Abyssinian she-cat slipped out of camp, making her way to the border where she met with Loki and searched for his familiar scent.
"You came." Squirrelbite mewed, her yellow eyes gleaming in the darkness as she approached him, her tail waving behind her.

L oki glanced up as he saw Squirrelbite coming, and answered her. "You came," he said, doubting if she would. They probably both had their reasons for not coming over the last two moons, and Loki guessed they would both share their news, in time. He started by standing and flicking his long tail. "What have you been up to?" he asked. He really wasn't sure what else to say. At least with his sister, he always ended up starting their conversation with a question or she would ask him something. Loki always found it easier to answer than to ask.

Squirrelbite shrugged. Without anyone to spar with, she'd had to focus on skills such as hunting and tree-climbing, which had gotten a bit boring after a while. One could only climb so many trees and catch so many prey, but there would never be any shortage of enemies, whether it be from traitors, other clans, rogues, or predatory animals. Perhaps she only came to see Loki because there was nothing else to do.
"Nothing much, just working on my skills." She answered evenly, not a hint of bragging in her tone. After all, any loyal warrior would spend all of their time trying to better themselves. "What about you?" Squirrelbite tilted her head.

L oki gave a nonchalant shrug. "Just discovering my brother has found me, and seeing a war start in front of my eyes." He said this as if it didn't matter much, but to him, nothing else mattered. He wasn't sure why he cared so much. Besides, his brother had taken Loki's rightful place in the clan, and got them both banished at the same time. Loki wanted to badly to attack his brother, but the other cat always chose the right words, even though he wasn't trying. Grayfang seemed to have no anger or hate in him, and Loki always stood by, bristling and waiting for the perfect moment to start a fight between the two brothers.

Squirrelbite nodded, interesting sparking in her gaze. The two knew very little about each other, and she would rather learn more about him than have him learn about her past or even her current life. "What sort of war?"
Since Loki was just a loner, she wasn't worrying about any potential threats that him and his brother could pose. Squirrelbite was confident she'd be able to take on this so-called brother of his, and she managed to keep a close eye on Loki in order to see if he was planning anything that could interfere with Squirrelbite's own ambitions.

L oki narrowed his eyes. "A war to take over the world," he said dramatically, taking a slight step back. Then, his face turned into a laughing smile. He shook his head, closing his eyes and looking at the ground in the process. Then he lifted his head again. "I'm not sure how bad it will get, but it's between my brother and sister. They... don't get along well anymore, and I've always been distant from both." Here, he shrugged. "Though, I guess being adopted makes you feel that way, even if you only just discovered this a moon ago."

Squirrelbite nodded. "I see," She still didn't quite understand how a little sibling spat could turn into anything so huge, but it wasn't like Squirrelbite had any personal experience with litter-mates.
Her gaze darkened at the mention of being adopted, and while this was something Squirrelbite understood, she had no desire to discuss her opinion on the subject. "What's the end goal of this fighting?" The she-cat asked nonchalantly, flicking the tip of her long tail. If she were a rogue, she would simply stay away from all other cats, family or not.

L oki's gaze seemed to harden, and his eyes became cold. "There is no goal. It is useless, it has no point." He was mad at both of them, and was surprised most the time that he had ended up with them as littermates. The three of them shared nothing in common. "They just do, they don't think. They don't have plans, they don't think of outcomes. They live in the present." Loki could never not think of the outcomes of everything, from something he said to a plan he had for the future. One of his plans, which he had never shared with anyone, was well planned out. He actually had plans, but not his 'siblings.' (( i feel like my posts keep getting worse and worse, grammar wise ))

((tbh i feel like all my posts are mediocre.)) Squirrelbite nodded along, listening to him quietly. She wondered if Loki would think that all the in-fighting in TreeClan was unnecessary, and that her desire for power was selfish and greedy. He seemed to have at least some morals, so he probably would disprove. Not that it mattered, since he wasn't a TreeClan cat, and there wasn't any other reason that his opinion would be relevant.
"If I were you, I wouldn't get involved." Squirrelbite commented thoughtfully. "Even if they're family, they don't sound like they're any use to you, if anything they hold you back."

L oki looked up, staring straight into Squirrelbite's eyes. His own posture was relaxed, but tall, as he always stood as if he should rule the world. Though, even if he wanted to, Loki knew that would be difficult to do alone. He had thought about what she said, about them holding him back. Frankly, most the time he thought it true. When he had left them both, he had felt as if he was actually achieving things, and now he felt back in a ditch. "I wasn't planning on joining their pointless squaking," he answered. He hadn't meant it to sound rude, but it really depended on Squirrel to determine if it was or not.

Squirrelbite had managed to keep an even attitude around even the most obnoxious of cats, so Loki's response failed to annoy her. She flicked an ear, nodding her head and keeping most of her thoughts to herself.
"Then how are you going to avoid them? It sounds like the two are determined to have their fight." Squirrelbite wondered if Loki would simply leave, never to be seen again. However, his siblings could easily track him if they tried, and the only other solution Squirrelbite could think of would be to kill them both.

L oki internally moaned, and a million possibilities of what to do with them surfaced in his brain. "They both seemed to rely on me," he started. It was strange, though, since he was the middle kit. "I think they'd notice if I suddenly disappeared. I could kill them, but that's a little cruel, even for me. I could sit in the dark caves of the canyon until they cool it, or I could join a clan, but all those ideas seem pretty unimpressive. For now, I just have to deal with their existence." It was true that Loki wasn't oleased with their inability to be friendly to eat other, and he wanted no part in their earthly squandering. It was like they had dropped down a level in maturity. If only their father could see them now... Loki shook his head. He would be ashamed.

Squirrelbite nodded. "Well, don't join any clan unless you actually want to, not because you're trying to get away from your bickering litter-mates." Outsiders faced enough prejudice and hatred that only truly determined cats were able to face it and stay in their newfound home.
Again, Squirrelbite felt frustrated with the lack of potential in her clan, and she wished Loki had been born here. "It doesn't sound like you've got a lot to look forward to." She commented smoothly, whiskers twitching.

L oki shook his head. "I guess not," he said slowly. He certainly wasn't looking forward to anything. He used to, but now everything he used to dream of was either out of reach or totally gone. He used to dream of going home, or ruling the four clans he had found here, but ruling the clans was a small vision, and going home was nearly impossible, so he didn't have many other options.
