"Well, if you ever want to join TreeClan, you have my approval." Squirrelbite wondered what other clan cats Loki had met so far. If any of them had made an outstanding first impression, then the loner might choose to join the ranks of a different clan, which would be a shame.
Squirrelbite straightened, arching her back and digging her claws into the soft earth. There was no use dwelling on things that, for now, can't be changed. "Anyways, what do you want to do tonight?" Sparring was always an option, but Squirrelbite thought they could do something to lift the poor loner's spirits, since it looked like he needed it.

L oki gave a small smile. "That's a relief," he said, slightly sarcastically. At least he knew he could go somewhere if he wanted to, but loner life was totally okay with him at the moment. Loki swished his tail calmly, looking up at the stars. "Have any ideas?" he asked, thinking about his home. He thought about that way too much, and he tore his gaze away from the twinkling lights. He would return someday, all in good time.

Squirrelbite nodded, her upper lip curled in the faintest of smiles. "I don't know." She shrugged, pacing back and forth behind the border. The warm new-leaf night felt pleasant on her thin pelt, a welcomed change after the frosty leaf-bare.
"I think I've done every interesting thing there is to do in TreeClan." Squirrelbite mewed with a dramatic sigh, looking at Loki imploringly.

L oki thought of all the interesting things he had done, and realized the most interesting was probably further out than she would like to go. "Treeclan isn't the best place, is it?" Loki knew of a better place. It wasn't too far away, and few cats lived there. The canyon, with its confusing cave system, was the best thing Loki could think of. He knew how to navigate the darkness, and he knew of all the interesting things down there. "I know somewhere, but you won't like the idea."

Squirrelbite's dark gaze lit up with interest and she tilted her her head to the side. She doubted Loki had anything in mind that adhered to the warrior code, the only question was whether it would negatively affect TreeClan or not. Getting caught wasn't an option, otherwise it would've happened by now.
Keeping most traces of emotion from her expression, Squirrelbite looked at the loner carefully. "I see. What is it?" Perhaps she would finally get to do something interesting.

L oki gave a short nod and continued. "I could show you the canyon," he said. Saying it that way made it sound a bit boring, but he could make it interesting. He always made those dull caverns exciting, even though they weren't exactly fun alone.

Squirrelbite nodded. "Where is it?" She knew that trespassing onto another clan's territory was prohibited, but as far as she remembered, there was nothing in the warrior code against going into unclaimed lands. TreeClan was so full of outsiders that Squirrelbite doubted anyone would even notice the different scents on her pelt.

L oki turned around and pointed with his nose toward the bit of land that slobed suddenly downward and dropped off. It was a little bit aways, but it wouldn't take long to get there if they ran. "I'm sure it's more interesting than standing here," Loki said with a smile. It was most likely true. The caves were full of new things, such as strange animals and bugs, but none of that really interested him. That's why he never went there alone.

Squirrelbite's gaze followed Loki's, and she looked over the canyon with a spark of interest. TreeClan felt so restricting at times, with looming trees blocking out the sky, and thick undergrowth entangling her every step. The canyon looked refreshing, and Squirrelbite could already practically taste the clear air and feel the solid stone beneath her paws.
Looking back over at Loki, Squirrelbite couldn't see any reason to say no. If Arrowstar could accept any outsider with blind faith, then certainly there wasn't anything wrong with spending time with a cat that had proved his worth. "Okay," Squirrelbite mewed. It wasn't like she completely trusted any cat, anyways, including him. "Let's go."

L oki nodded and started a nice, trotting pace, just to make sure she could keep up. She was a Treeclanner, they weren't known for speed and endurance, but Loki still wondered how fast she was. He started to speed up as the ground began to change. The soft grass turned into dusty, red rock, and the air blew over the land easily. As he ran, Loki could hear his soft pawpads hitting the rough ground. His form became elongated, allowing him to cover a longer distance with less energy wasted. He looked over his shoulder to see where Squirrelbite was.

Squirrelbite had an odd quirk- Despite being a TreeClan cat, she had the long-legged, runner's body of a FireClan cat. The wiry she-cat kept up with Loki with ease, even when he broke into a run. As she left the forest for the first time since first entering it, Squirrelbite relished in the free feeling of open air and wind against her pelt.
While she ran beside Loki, Squirrelbite began to feel the soft pads of her paws sting and ache against the tough ground beneath her. She didn't complain, though, instead the red she-cat took pleasure from the sharp, bright feeling.

L oki couldn't help break into a smile as she easily kept up. They were a lot alike, he thought. It was a shame that they weren't in the same clan, and he temporarily wondered what she would've thought about his old home. Without hesitation or a stop in his step, Loki jumped off the ledge of the canyon and onto a platform a few feet below. He slid down a rock with ease, then leaped to another rock until he landed smoothly on the ground. A large, dark cave mouth yawned ahead, and Loki waited for Squirrelbite to land next to him before they proceeded.

Squirrelbite enjoyed the silence between the two and the two, and the mutual understanding that came with it. While she loved TreeClan with all of her being, she couldn't help but desire more. One day, maybe, when she was leader, Squirrelbite might expand the borders a bit so she could call this place home.
Leaping from rock the rock was similar to traversing the tree-tops, and Squirrelbite easily bounded after Loki, landing beside him after only a heartbeart. She looked up at the cave-mouth with narrowed eyes, wondering what could possibly be inside and what made it special enough for Loki to bring her here. "Looks fun." She commented.

L oki laughed. "Definately," he said, and began to pad forward into the darkness. His black pelt made him look as if he was stepping into his own shadow, and then became part of it. Loki had been in nearly every tunnel and turn in the complex cave system, and knew his way around. Back when he first got here, he hadn't known about the caves, and it had cost him. He had earned his scar in these caves, and he learned how to fight blindly as well. It had been an interesting experience. They padded through the darkness a bit, until Loki began to speed up again. He ran, and shouted back, "Keep up!" They splashed through a puddle, and he let out a grand smile, before he suddenly leaped ahead and ducked down quickly. A deathly silence fell upon him, and he waited to see what Squirrelbite would do. He planned to jump out and scare her, hopefully she wouldn't run away.

Squirrelbite followed Loki into darkness, the fur on her spine tingling with apprehension. She thought back to when they first met, and he had been threatening to kill her. In TreeClan, she could've held her own against him, but in this dark and confusing labyrinth, Squirrelbite was as vulnerable as a kit.
Despite keeping pace with Loki, the dark tom still managed to disappear from her sight, leaving Squirrelbite alone and with nothing but her own paranoid thoughts. Her hackles raised, Squirrelbite padded forward slowly and quietly, allowing her unsheathed claws to click against the ground with every step.
