@emberrr Dovekit's eyes had faded from pale blue to a brilliant sea-green, signalling that she was quickly getting older. Despite still having a few moons until she was out of the nursery, it felt to her like she was ready to be apprenticed any day now. Dovekit wanted to be spending her time trying to find a way out of camp, but it was the middle of the day and she wasn't going to risk being discovered and put under the watchful eyes of IceClan warriors.
"Hey!" Dovekit confidently approached another kit, her eyes bright and her expression lacking any doubt. Surely every cat was as bored as she was, and would be glad to pass the time with her. "Do you want to play warriors?"

Emberkit was relaxing near the nursery, stretched out, soaking in the sun. A loud purr was erupting from her theist, her whole body vibrating. Something she had just recently discovered was how loud she could purr. She hadn't heard any other kittens beat her yet.
Emberkit didn't mind just lounging around today, despite her usual boredom. She found peace in the warm sunlight. Although, that quickly changed as a kit approached her. Emberkit quickly jumped to her paws, tail lashing. She would never pass up a game. "Sure, but I call being leader!" She pranced around the other kitten. "And you can be my trusted deputy." She had quickly assigned both of them spots.

Dovekit narrowed her eyes at the other she-cat for a moment, wondering what made her qualified to be leader of IceClan. She looked just like any average kit, and unlike Dovekit and Aspenkit, there was nothing great about her bloodline.
Arguing about it wouldn't solve things, Dovekit reminded herself, and this was just a game. One day, Dovekit would be sitting in her rightful place and in the mean time, learning to compromise was a good idea.
"Okay. I'll be a great deputy, leadership is in my blood." Dovekit purred, her eyes bright. The small she-kit arched her back, digging her soft claws into the ground as she prepared herself for the game. "You can call me Doveblaze."

Emberkit tilted her head slightly at the mention of bloodlines. "Really? How so?" Emberkit had no idea that she was the leaders kit, and even if she did, she really wouldn't care. It didn't make her any more special.
"Alright, Doveblaze. You can call me Emberstar." She puffed out her chest slightly, looking around for something to do. She suddenly crouched, a very serious look spreading on her face. She signalled for Doveki- Doveblaze, to crouch down too. "Shh. Deathclan snuck into our camp, we have to defend the elders and kits!" Emberkit pointed with her tail towards the fresh kill pile, which was supposedly Deathclan.

Dovekit shrugged as if it weren't important to her, but her eyes still glimmered with an unmistakable light. "Fallenstar is my father." She explained, not expecting any sort of reaction. Normal cats wouldn't understand.
Dropping into a crouch as well, her gaze flickered around the nursery, searching for a suitable target to represent the evil DeathClan. "Come on, Emberstar!" With a leap, Dovekit took the lead, pouncing on a lump of moss and batting it up into the air with unsheathed claws.

"Cool." She smirked, wiggling her haunches slightly. She was almost going to pounce on the other kit when she remembered they were supposed to be fighting imaginary enemies instead. She thought about attacking a dead piece of prey, though she didn't want to waste any of.
"Look out!" She squeaked with pretend fear, leaping at a twig that was near her. Emberkit batted at it furiously, rolling onto her back and kicking it into the air, sending it flying.

Dovekit didn't think that 'Emberstar' was doing a suitable job as leader, but for the moment, she kept her opinions to herself. Continuing to assault her bit of moss, Dovekit shredded and batted at the lump until it was nothing but smithereens. In the process, Dovekit flung moss everywhere, perhaps accidentally spraying Emberkit in the process.

Emberkit's nose wrinkled as shredded moss was flung at her, eyes narrowing in slight annoyance. She could've sworn that Dovekit had done it on purpose. She stood, forgetting about the game. "Watch where you're throwing our enemies guts." She growled, somewhat playfully, somewhat seriously. She wouldn't let her get away with doing something like that, if it was on purpose. Although, Emberkit tried not to jump to conclusions. It could have been a simple mistake. She waited impatiently for an apology, tail flicking.

"Oh," Dovekit paused and looked over at Emberkit and her dirtied fur, having to hide the amusement she felt. Emberkit seemed like a bit of a brat, wanting power and control, but not actually being willing to do any hard work. "Well, a real leader shouldn't be afraid to get her pelt a little messy, right?" She asked brightly, as if she were really trying to help the other kit instead of just being condescending. "If it's that much of a problem for you, perhaps you'd be better off as a medicine cat."

Emberkit scowled, annoyed. "A leader would punish their deputy for purposefully throwing things at them." Emberkit suddenly grinned. She stepped closer, ears flattening against her head. "You don't need to be punished, do you?" She threatened, the medicine cat comment her last straw. Emberkit towered over her, as the feline was fairly late for her age, eyes narrowed.
(I assume Emberkit is taller??)

((yep, dovekit is naturally pretty small ^^)) "I wasn't throwing things at you, if you didn't notice, all that moss went everywhere. Not just on you." Dovekit countered with a sneer. Her own pelt was completely ruffled and covered in dust and moss, but unlike Emberkit, she wasn't bothered by it. She met the taller kit's gaze evenly, starting to get rather annoyed by her righteousness. "A good leader wouldn't go around making false accusations."

"Really? Because I think you did it on purpose." Emberkit retorted, her stance wide, as if she was ready to fight. Emberkit would never hurt a clanmate though, even annoying foxhearts like Dovekit.
"A good deputy wouldn't criticize her leader." She stated pointedly with a raised brow. Trying to get back on more friendly terms with the kit, Emberkit took a step back, sitting down. "I guess we're both bad in high ranks." She grinned.

Dovekit hesitated, still not agreeing with Emberkit, but understanding that this was an opportunity for her to make amends and possibly earn herself a new friend.
"I guess." She shrugged, frowning as she began to clean up her ruffled, messy fur. A clan leader couldn't afford to get into petty fights, no matter now arrogant her clan-mates were being. "We both have a lot of learning to do."

Emberkit nodded, glad that they finally seemed to agree. She completely forgot about the whole moss thing, tail tip twitching. "I wouldn't want to be a leader anyway." She shrugged honestly. It wasn't that she wasn't willing to put in the work or anything, she jus didn't know if she could handle all that stress on her shoulders. Taking care of the whole clan seemed like a huge responsibility, and she wasn't sure she would fit the job description very well. She didn't think Dovekit would either, though she kept that thought to herself. She had a feeling saying that would bring them back to square one.
-Sorry, late-

"I wouldn't either, at least not now." Dovekit hated that she was going to have to wait moons and moons before ever even having a shot at becoming deputy, but there was nothing she could do about it.
She had to be experienced and skilled enough for Fallenstar to consider her as the next deputy if something happened to Cinderflame, and then Fallenstar, her father, would have to die for her to become leader. "I hope Fallenstar lives forever." Dovekit could still go down in history without ever being leader.
