[[Loki only please]]The sun was not yet up, the sky low and dark. The thick grey clouds gave the quiet world a claustrophobic feel, weighing down Thor as he tiredly tracked down his brother. The last they'd seen of each other was when the brothers fought off that animal, which he later learned was called a badger. Before Thor left, the topic of home had sprang up, and finding a way back. It was a vulnerable thing to speak of, as it was his own fault they were stuck in dreary Midgard and not the warm, bright Asgard. Even the mornings back home weren't depressing like this, it was always welcoming weather.
Now here he was, not completely sure why he was looking for his brother. He didn't even know what he would say. Thor was usually stubborn and stupid, so honestly, talk of returning to Asgard was bound to come between them again.
The familiar faint scent of clovers crossed his nose, and he turned to find his brother. Not sure how else to greet him, he simply began with a, "Morning, Loki." A respectable distance away, waiting for his brother to notice him.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki had started off the day waking up and thinking he was back in his den in Asgard, but when water dripped on his head and he felt cold stone beneath him, reality hit him and he scowled. With a stretch, he got up and padded away from the shallow cave he had slept in, never to return to it again.
The sky was dreary, as always, and he despised the weather. Once again, his mind trailed back to Asgard and it's beautiful mornings. Back then, he had always woken before the sunrise, so that he could watch it peek over the Edge. Now, he no longer cared. The sunrise here was never a sight to see.
Dew covered his paws in an annoying way as he padded through the ferns. He wouldn't be surprised if he randomky stepped on a thorn, or in a puddle, or anything of the Midgardian sort. As an apprentice, he used to imagine he would come to Midgard and be welcomed with fluffy paws, but that wish was useless. All the cats here were useless, and had no idea who he was. Maybe if he had his powers, they would know, but he doubted it. Thinking back, he wondered if Thor had requested a Stealer to take both their powers until they returned, and they hadn't returned, so the cat had both their powers. He frowned as he thought of someone else playing with his powers, and had no doubt they would return to Asgard and it would be on fire again.
Loki's ears flicked as he heard the voice of his brother call his name, and turned to spot Thor. Without moving, he stood with a slightly dull expression on his face and asked, "Are you ready?"

[[short and confused]]He nodded, the tip of his tail curling. His brother was to show him something, and he really wasn't the type to share with Thor. Whatever it was, it must be important.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki turned with a flick of his tail and began leading the way to the canyons. The direction he was going was one he had never gone before, but fear was not a wall, and so he went on without hesitation. Across the canyon was unknown lands, lands which could hold answers to Loki's questions. Lands that could hold the answer.
They were going to find the portal, no matter the risks. Loki didn't care about this realm anymore. Being stranded on it made him resent it, and he wanted to get home. He understood how the kings could protect the nine realms so easily, since they hadn't been stranded on one for a year or so. They could sit in Asgard and wait for trouble, then go solve the issue when it needed to be solved.
Loki waited as they came to the edge of the canyon. A rainstorm could be seen hovering over mountains in the distance, and there was no doubt it would hit them.

Thor silently walked on behind Loki, his mind elsewhere. His brother briefly informed him of what they were looking for, but not much. Enough so Thor could know it when he sees it, but not to know what it was or did. It wasn't anything surprising, his brother was the god of mischief, nothing was unusual about this. They were gods, they deserved not a life on Midgard; but back home in the golden palace walls of Asgard.
When they came to the edge of the canyon, Thor could spy a rainstorm hovering over the distant mountains, the unfamiliar territory. He'd only been through there once, when he was coming here. He had come in through the canyons, and he felt as if he would leave the same way. Whether it was today or another.
As they continued on, Thor glanced sideways at Loki. "What exactly is it we're looking for?" He asked over the loud roar of the storm, nearing them quickly.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki cast a quick glance at him, starting to feel the light sting of rain against his pelt. Without responding, he leaned over the edge of the canyon and looked down, way down to a river roaring far below. The only way across was to jump, or take the scenic route around. However, Loki didn't have the time to walk, so he began pacing back and forth on the edge of the canyon, looking across for any land jutting out from the rocky wall. If there was a narrower path, one easier to junp across, Loki would find it.
His sharp eyes caught every detail of the canyon, scoring it for a way across. Finally, his eyes set on a broken looking land bridge, and he flicked his tail and tried meowing at his brother, but the wind whipped the words from his mouth. It sounded like a murmur, but he hoped his brother understood. "This way."
He padded at a brisk pace to the bridge, and without much of a hesitation, he went out onto it and took on the edge. The other side of it wasn't too far away, maybe too far to jump for a normal cat, but not for them. Loki backed up a few paces and cast another glance at his brother, but bursting forward with sudden energy and leaping across. He landed on his paws without much trouble, but a back paw slipped and a rock tumbled towards the river far below. He stood on the other side, waiting for his brother. Loki would give him a fair answer to his question when he jumped across.
(( come brother! we must get away from these petty tiny cats by risking our lives jumping over canyon rivers! ))

[[lol. and my posts suck, all my muse has vanished. *sigh*]]Thor growled, but acted not upon Loki's silence. He instead watched him, as he searched for a path across the raging river, which separated the other lands from them. The only way was a broken bridge, and he followed after Loki when he signaled.
The warrior rose an eyebrow at Loki when a loose rock fell, flicking his tail as he prepared for his own jump. Backing up a few steps, he took a running start, jumping over and landing short from Loki. Thor turned to look over his shoulder, the edge was barely missed. Turning back to his brother, he made a faced that said; Well.?

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki turned and began padding to the mountains in the distance. They were out of the land they knew too well, and into unknown land. They were exploring once more, searching for the thing that would return them home. "We're looking for a rift," he explained. "A cut in space. It won't be easy to find." 'Won't be easy' was an understatement. It would be nearly impossible to find, but they would find it nonetheless.

Thor fell into step beside Loki, thinking carefully before speaking. "It's Asgard, isn't it? A way back." The warrior twitched his ears. His brother knew many things, though he wouldn't expect he'd known something like this. The rain was heavy now, stinging his pelt as they neared the mountains.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki nodded without saying words. It would nearly be useless, the wind had grown strong and the rain pelted their faces. Loki squinted into the darkness, picking his way over rough terrain. The grass was slowly turning coarse as they got closer to the mountains, and would soon be nothing but rocks. Motivation kept Loki going, and would keep him going until they found the way back to Asgard.
(( im sorry it took a little to respond. i was at my track meet then went to a party and i have another meet tomorrow ))

[[you're fine. vww isn't a priority. c:]]The texture of the ground under Thor's feet slowly changed as they neared the mountain, then turned rocky when they made their destination. The ground was stained a darker grey, courtesy of the rainstorm they got caught up in. Though it was raining, he hoped the rocks nor any of the mountain paths would be slippery and that they wouldn't be slowed down.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki stopped to look for a clear path on the mountain, and wished again that his brother or himself had their abilities. It would be more than helpful at this moment. Loki glanced toward his brother with something in his eyes, excitement, worry, something around there? But he turned away again and began to climb the mountain with nimble paws, slipping every once in a while on a wet rock. He had spotted a seemingly clear and flat path a few tail lengths up, and was determined to get to it.

Thor shrugged when Loki's looked at him, but followed up the mountain behind him. Once, when Loki slipped the rock came loose and whacked Thor straight in his face, surely to leave a scar on it. A path was near them, soon they'd be on flat ground again. "For the love of gods Loki, we're almost there." He yelled when his brother almost completely slipped and fell on him.
Soon as they were on the path, they continued on in silence; Thor keeping his eyes open for anything looking like what Loki had described.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY When Loki found flat ground, he instantly began looking for halves of rocks and strange waving corners, but he knew it was mostly useless. They couldn't see the rift, they would have to find it on their own, but Loki knew it had to be in these mountains. They were just too... quiet.
Without looking toward his brother, he meowed, "Your face is bleeding." Looking around a corner, he continued, "If you can make it, I can fix it when we get back."

[[their roles feel reversed because remember in that one scene where Loki keeps changing outfits to Captain America and others he's all chatty and Thor's trying to get stuff done. Same as when Thor threw Loki out that flying thing; "You missed a column," "Shut up Loki!" xD]]"I'm fine." Thor answered shortly. Clearing his throat, he tried to ease the tensions by a conversation, but failed when no words came out. With his wet pelt, he remembered it was just pouring on them. He squinted his eyes and looked up, dark clouds hovering low over them. The rain was possibly lighter, but it was still coming down hard. The wind picked up as well, but it wasn't so bad that it could blow them off the path.
A little while into searching, his eye caught a glimpse of something strange, that had an odd 'air,' around it. It looked promising, a long, skinny cave or rock formation with a large hole in the middle; and the surrounding air was visible and wavy. "Brother... I found something." He called out to Loki, who had continued on without noticing Thor had stopped.
As he was waiting for Loki to come beside him, Thor looked for a way up. It was high, just about the top of the mountain; but hidden very well. So well that normal cats couldn't see it, or wouldn't recognize it for what it truly was. The only way up seemed that they'd have to scale the mountain, there were no individual paths. That would be extremely hard, even for them, especially in the rain.
