( Soul, I had time and was bored so I made this thread. I could not think of a title though, sorry.) Ella walked through the Plains. She was rather new around there, and her amber eyes were slightly wide as she explored the area that was so new to her. It was actually a pretty nice place. The prey was plentiful, and it was open so random cats could sneak up on her as easily. Not that they would, at least, not without reason, and she wouldn't give them reason. Her logic may have been a bit naive, she knew, but she really didn't care how naive she was. When it came down to it, she knew what was what. She knew what the real world was, but she still preferred to be more optimistic. The cold hard truth was to... well, cold and hard. And she just couldn't accept that. There was surviving and there was living, and in her opinion, surviving wasn't worth it if you weren't doing something with your life, and if you were the type of cat to shut down and never trust anyone, you weren't doing something with life. Not something that helped anyone, at least. Ha. Not that she was helping anyone by being in a new land without having had told her family and friends anything. She shook her head and brought herself back to the present. It was useless to delve into the past, almost as bad as accepting how cold the real world was. She turned suddenly, slightly startled to see another cat. "Oh," she said, "I'm sorry, I didn't hear you coming up behind me."

(no problem, I'm sorry I didn't make it sooner. I've been out these last few days. Sorry)
Soul shrugged as the cat realised that she was there and gave a lengthy excuse for jumping, "No need to apologize." She meowed, stopping a few paces away from the she-cat and scrutinizing her through narrowed eyes.
"Who are you?" Soul asked, trying to not give it away that this stranger was getting close to where she had made her home for now. That would be a weakness. She also had never seen this cat before, and she looked awfully young to be wandering alone. Maybe even a few more weeks with her parents would have been enough to teach her how not to be naive.
Soul could sense this other cats naivety. It was unnerving, and she could feel her ice cold facade melting as unwanted concern struggled to be the dominant emotion. With a very very small growl, Soul turned and flicked her long tail.
"Follow me." She muttered. She had decided to take this cat to her den and really check weather she was able to be here without someone. A small voice was telling her it was a terrible idea, but she had set her mind. An idea had locked in.

Ella tilted her head at the other cat's response to her apology. Thinking about it, she realized she probably didn't need to apologize as much as she did, but no one had ever told her not to apologize. Rather they had usually snapped when she didn't. Alas, in a new place people wouldn't expect her to apologize for everything since they didn't really know her. In the secluded little place in which she grew up, new cats were rare, and every cat that was there knew her pretty well and expected her to be herself. Not that they all were mean or anything, she actually had quite a few friends. Some were even good enough that they became her family.
Bringing herself out of her thoughts, she followed when told,s answering the previous question as she walked. "I am Ella. I'm new around here. What's you're name?" she asked. She had, of course, never seen this other cat, and she inspected the she-cat. "And are you from around here? You have long fur, and it seems like this place would get pretty hot sometimes."

Soul watched the she-cat out of the corner of her eyes as they walked, nodding as she gave her name and saying she was new around here. That explained the fact that Soul hadn't seen her around before. "I'm Soul." She answered Ella, noting the fact that the smaller cat was inspecting her. This impressed her.
"Yeah, I'm from around here. Have been my whole life. My fur is a pain when the weather is really hot, but it's easy enough to find a breeze or some shade to cool down in." Soul meowed, her long fur billowing to add effect to her words.
She padded under a bush, slipping through the entrance of her little den. She moved to the edge of the den and sat down, watching as Ella entered behind her. "This is my home." Soul meowed, nodding to her nest and the space around the size of three or so full grown cats. It was a pretty good den.
"Where do you live?" She asked Ella, and she lowered herself to her side on the mossy floor, eyes on the other cat. She hadn't bought any outsiders to her home before, and was very weary.

"Nice to meet you Soul," she responded hesitantly with a smile. Since she didn't meet many new cats before, she wasn't the best at all the polite stuff that went along with it. But, then again, she didn't have to be so polite now.
She remained quiet until they arrived at what was supposedly Soul's home. She glanced around the den, which was actually quite large. It was a bit hard to believe it was just for one cat, and she doubted Soul had another cat living there based on the scent of the den. At Soul's question, she shook her head. "Again, I'm new. Very new. I haven't exactly located the best spot for a new den yet. I plan to do that once I explore a bit more and see what options for dens are." she said, her tone slightly nervous."

Soul dipped her head as Ella said 'nice to meet you'. "Nice to meet you as well." She murmured, the corner of her mouth tugging up a slight bit.
She watched as Ella glanced around her den, and listened to what the other cat said. "Oh, well, would you consider staying here until you find a suitable place?" Soul asked, her voice nearly inaudible and she was looking away through a small gap in the wall of the den, a weird feeling of embarrassment warming her ears. "It is dangerous out there by yourself... No place for someone as young as you." She said even quieter, but she turned to lock eyes with Ella. "If you want."
"What is making you nervous?" Soul asked, her senses picking up on Ella's emotion of Nervousness. It was setting Soul on edge.

Ella tilted her head. "Stay here? I couldn't. It's your den and it's your space, not mine to borrow." she responded after a moment, shaking her head. "And I'm sure I'll be fine. What I can't fight I can outrun." she grinned.
At Soul's last question, Ella shook her head. "Nervous? Well... I'm not sure. A lot of things I suppose," she responded, then thought up a list of those reasons. "A new home, the fact that you're being so nice to me when we've barely just met, and a lot more things you probably wouldn't understand."

Soul was shaking her head even before Ella had finished her objecting. Soul was sure Ella didn't know that there were many dangers to someone with her little knowledge of this place, though her comment about running what she can't fight bought a small smile to Souls face.
"It's alright to be nervous. I am nice, if I feel that the cat I am talking to is worth it. You have a nice air about you, and I'd prefer befriending you and showing we aren't all barbaric savages." Soul rolled her eyes, but grinned.
"I'm sure I could understand whatever it was you think I couldn't if you would like to talk about it." She offered, flicking her tail.
"Also, it is late, and I am not sending you out by yourself. You will stay the night, and if you are bent on leaving, you may in the morning."
Soul kept it to herself that she would follow Ella to make sure she would be okay.

Ella tilted her head. "Barbaric savages? No, no one is a barbaric savage, just misunderstood," she said, adding on in her head 'at least thats what I want to believe,' but opting not to say it out loud. If she did, that would be admiting that some cats were just barbaric savages. "And as for not understanding, I am not the best at explaining my situations. I miss my fam- er... friends, and there's a lot of stuff to be nervous about strung on to leaving them. You really need not bother, even if you did understand, it would probably all seem like pointless nonsence to you."
She chose not to respond on the subject of staying for the night. She wouldn't, but if she told Soul that, the other cat wouldn't let her leave, and there would be no chance of sneaking out. Of course, she had no reason to sneak out, if she took Soul's mind off the fact that she wanted her to stay, she theoretically could just say good night and walk off, and if anyone could take someone's mind off of something, it was her. "What about you though? Tell me about yourself."

Soul listened to all Ella said, nodding at times and flicking her tail at others. She also noticed when Ella didn't respond about staying the night, but let it go.
When Ella asked her about herself, Soul started. This was new, no one normally asked her about herself.
"Uh, well, I have lived here for a while. My parents and siblings are... gone? And so I was raised by a tom name Strike. He was great, my mentor and guider and friend, but I don't know what happened to him. I wish I could see him again..." Soul trailed off, saddened.
"Um, what else? I... am a nuisance and a mean cat who everyone I meet is either challenging me or walking away from me in alarm because I am unpredictable and can get testy." She meowed, not really caring if Ella was alarmed and freaked out. She could think what she wanted. Soul murmured a few other random things, but then gave up.
"Yeah, I'm not intersting at all, sorry." She said, running out of things to say.

"It's acctually not all that boring," she said, "Acctually, that first part we have in common. My parents died I think, I don't really know, and I had no siblings. I did have a few friends who were like family to me though." Ella paused for a moment, "And to me you don't seem like a nuisance or mean at all."

"Oh... I'm sorry about your family." Soul meowed. "These good friends, will you tell me about them?"
"You really don't think I'm mean? Or a nuisance?" She asked, sort of shocked. "A lot of others thought I am, so I'm very used to it. Being told I'm not is weirdly strange, but also good." She tried to explain. "I don't really know."

Ella shrugged. "I never knew them, so there is no pain in thoughts of them. As for my friends... Well, Lydia was a wonderful cat. She was like a sister to me. She was nice, even if she constantly got on my nerve, and her singing voice is like no other. Serenity was like a mother to us. She was more mature than any of the other of our friends, and her main goal in life was to protect us all." she smiled slightly talking about them. "And then there was Blaze. He was rarely around, but he was Serenity's actual son. He was the ideal role model when he was around though, and he always helped out when either Lydia or I needed it." She shook her head. "And no, you're not mean. You're acctually a lot like Serenity."

Soul listened quietly to what Ella told her, watching as she smiled slightly while talking about her old friends.
"They sound wonderful... My friends/family weren't... caring cats, I suppose you could say." She murmured. When Ella told her she reminded her of Serenity, Soul jolted a little. "Uh, really?" Soul honestly didn't think she was anything like this nice cat Ella had spoken of.
"I-Uh, thank you." She managed to meow, dipping her head bashful, if Soul could be bashful.

Ella nodded. "Oh, most certainly. Your gaze of the world is more... hardened, but otherwise you are pretty much the same cat. You care about other cats in need, even if you don't appear that way to most cats. You're more modest that one would suspect. And in many other ways, you and Serenity are the same." she said.
