Splash! Sootkit landed into another puddle of water. Laughing, Sootkit launched himself into another one, only a few mouse lengths away. Splash! This was one of his first days out of the Nursery and over the night it rained! Not too much, but enough bring along a few small puddles. The young light brown tom leaped into another puddle, but the ground was a little to slimy. "Ahh!" Sootkit shrieked as he slipped into the small pool of water. Looking up, Sootkit found his jaw submerged in water. Slightly giggling to himself, Sootkit propped his head up, stopping when he saw white paws in front of him. Looking up all the way up, Sootkit quietly sighed when he saw it was just another kit. He was just glad it wasn't Rainlight, ready to scold him, again... Realizing he was in an awkward position of greeting the new cat, Sootkit opened his mouth and mewed, "Ummm, hi.... How are you?"

Lostkit woke up with a small yawn. She quickly got up and stretched her tiny limbs. Last night she had some trouble sleeping due to the storm. The white kitten quickly made her way outside ready to start another day.

Once outside she studied the camp, making sure to find a spot with out any Warriors. She didn't know if her scent has changed enough for them to notice that she wasn't from the clan. Her eyes landed on a younger kit she hasn't met yet. He was jumping from puddle to puddle. That looked like fun she thought as she made her way over to him.

Lostkit stopped in front of him. "Hi... um I'm good, you?" she asked him. She watched the kit with her green and blue eyes. "My names Lostkit by the way." she told him.

"I am, uh, okay as well." Sootkit mewed, quickly scrambling up to his paws. This was slightly awkward, but Sootkit kept going. "Nice to meet you, Lostkit! My name is Sootkit." As he said his name, he flicked his left ear, showing that it was the only gray part on him.

"Um, I am sorry to ask, but... Why is your name Lostkit?"

She studied the kit as he spoke. Sootkit? She thought looking at his brown fur she noticed his ear was the only gray on him. Her eyes snapped to his at the question he asked. "Well umm I'm not a clan cat or I wasn't born one. They found me outside the territory, they asked me question that I couldn't answer because I didn't know I couldn't remember. Rainlight my adoptive mother named me Lostkit." she said looking down at her paws.

Sootkit felt a little odd as Lostkit's eyes snapped to his, but he held still. After hearing what she had to say, Sootkit tipped his head slightly. "Interesting." He simply mewed, "I never really heard a name anything like yours. It's quite unique..."

Lostkit nodded slowly, she really didn't understand their naming process but she just went with it. "I guess it is." she said giving a small smile.

"So sootkit why were you jumping into the puddles." she asked. She didn't understand why someone would willingly jump into the water.

Sootkit smiled, thinking that Lostkit was one of the cats who didn't entirely enjoy water. Sometimes Sootkit doesn't like water, other times he does, this day was one of those days. "If I told you I did it for fun would you believe me?" Sootkit joked.

[Lostpaw]

Lostkit looked at him funny. "It looks fun but I have white fur and it easily gets dirty." she said. She was a little jealous that the kit had brown fur so the mud and water didn't show as much. Her fur was also longer, it would take for ever for it to get all the mud out and dry. She thought as shrugged her shoulders.

What the hay why not? She thought as she jumped right into the muddy water puddle. She let out a giggle as she leapt to one closer to Sootkit trying to splash him.

"Yeah... I guess you do." Sootkit mewed sheepishly, shrugging his shoulders. Giving his pelt a small shake, Sootkit realized that he could barely see the mud, if not, not even see it! The only thing cats could see was that he was wet.

About to walk out of the puddle he was still standing in, Sootkit squealed, "Hey!", as he felt water splash into his side. Suprised to see Lostkit in the puddles with him, Sootkit burst out laughing. Swiping his paw, Sootkit sent a small squirt of water heading toward Lostkit.

The giggling kit was soon joined in by the other in laughing. "Oops." she said calming down slightly from her laughter. Lostkit was prepared to be squirted back at.

She quickly stopped laughing as the water hit her right in the face. She quickly shook her fuzzy head, and tried to put on a fake glare towards Sootkit. Her glare didn't last long until her laughter came back in. "That wasn't very nice!" she giggled at him.

Sootkit smiled brightly as Lostkit pretended that she accidentally splashed him. For the first kit he ever met, the day was going very well!

Sootkit's laughter faulted as the squirt of water he sent toward Lostkit smacked her in the face. Why was he always so clumsy? Was he about to lose his first friend ever? Sootkit was about to launch into a full out apology when Lostkit started glaring at him, when, she started laughing! Sighing loudly, Sootkit said, "Ugh... I thought you were actually really angry at me!"

Lostkit gave him a small smile. Oh no that is nothing to get mad about. I splashed you first." she replied to him. She couldn't help it though his reaction was the greatest things she has seen. "You should have seen your face though Sootkit." she purred happily.

Sootkit decided to try to make Lostkit laugh again, Sootkit found it rather... Fun. "Oh really?" He purred, "How funny was it?"

The she-kit quickly tried to calm herself down to be serious. "See for yourself." she said as she tried to reinact the tom-kits scared facial expression. After a few seconds she laughed again.

(You're fine mine are slowly getting shorter.)

Okay, okay. Sootkit had to admit to himself that his face did look pretty silly. But what really made him smile, was the laugh... It was being laughed at, or trying to be silly, but there was something about that laugh.

"You know, you have a really nice laugh." Sootkit blurted.
