Patch wasn't too keen on speaking in front of the whole clan, or whoever came, but if she was going to take charge, she had to at least make an announcement. The greatly scarred rogue slowly walked into the main clearing, her battered tail dragging in the dirt. Something about this felt wrong; that she was taking something that wasn't hers.
But Pain was gone, and Patch was sure they needed a new leader. She had gained the approval of Natalia, and trusted her to back up if things got ugly during the meeting. It wasn't likely, though. Patch looked around and made her way to a large rock in the clearing, climbing it with ease.
She gazed around, her green eyes filled with both pride and anxiety. After moments of pure silence, she made the call.
"Deathclan! Gathering around the main clearing for a clan meeting!"

Rot was never the the one to regularly attend meetings, even though he belonged to DeathClan for quite a while. Rot was trying to groom his patchy tortoise fur when he heard a not so familiar call. Looking up, Rot found out that it was not Pain who called out this time, but a she-cat. Rot somehow found this quite annoying. Getting up, Rot padded toward the she-cat. "What do you think your doing?" He challenged, his icy blue eyes flashing.

Natalia was perched in a tree above the main clearing, just to keep an eye on things. She knew that Patch was going to announce her seizure of leadership now. Perhaps some cats would be upset or uppity about it. She'd help smooth Patch's way.
Curiously, it was someone she'd met before that first challenged Patch. She tilted her head back down at Rot. She decided to descend down from the tree, gracefully landing on her feet. She approached Rot, coming from around the rock Patch was perched atop. "What do you think she's doing?" She tilted her head. "I'd advise you to wait for her to say her piece before you decide to voice your complaints." She suggested.

Aelin was close enough in the area to hear some cat calling a meeting, a cat who she knew very well was not the leader, though she was clueless as to who this cat was. "I think she is calling a meeting. Her peice she may say, though depending on what it is she better be prepared for the reaction," she told the cat that responded to another's protests. Her tone was as though she didn't care, though she was ready to revolt depending on what this 'announcement' was.

Rot was ready to hear what the she-cat had to say when he heard a familiar voice. "Natalia?" He had met the she-cat once before, when he first came to DeathClan, but he never talked to her since. Flicking an ear, Rot growled, "I can make my own decisions, can't I?" Glaring at Natalia and her friend, Rot lashed his tail and sat down heavily. Flicking his ear once again as another cat told him was going on.

Natalia passively flicked an ear. "Yes, you can. However, I'd greatly prefer that you didn't make any except to listen, until after Patch speaks." She eyed both Rot and Aelin carefully, wary of their reactions to Patch's soon to be announcement. She'd stand by the black and white she-cat. She leapt up to Patch and murmured into her ear. "You should probably speak now before they run out of what little patience they have."

Rot was ready to claw Natalia, even if she taught him very little, when she spoke again. Patch. So that was the black and white she-cat's name. Rot barred his teeth slightly as Natalia leaped up to be beside Patch. Glaring sharply at the two of them, Rot waited for Patch to began speaking.

Patch awkwardly glanced down at the cats below her, and started to get nervous. She glanced down at Natalia and nodded as she spoke. She appreciated the she-cat's support, and she smiled. The black and white rogue cleared her throat, and decided to go on without the other clan cats.
"Ahem... As I can see, you're wondering why I'm here. My dear friend Pain has disappeared, and has been for quite some time. With Natalia's support, I am going to replace him as leader for the time being. If he is to return, I shall give up my rank as leader for him." She didn't know if she was actually going to do that, but it was probably going to happen. She was semi-terrified of the dude. "Anyways, we have some ideas to help Deathclan, if you guys support them."

(I'm terribly bored so I'm going to post here a lot.... Sorry!)
Rot waited a moment after Patch spoke. Leader?!? Wow... Standing up quickly, Rot meowed, "You? Why do you want to be Leader? We have been doing fine, even with Pain gone!" Rot quickly glanced at Natalia, checking if she would instantly complain about his quick compliant. "How do you think you can make DeathClan better than this now?!?"

((It's fine))
Natalia figured she should speak up. "Without a leader, we're essentially a bunch of rogues sharing the same space. It's like the situation in the neutral lands, occupied by neither us nor the clans. Just more cramped." She tilted her head. "I am willing to back Patch because I believe she's willing to do something. Can you actually name one thing Pain did for us that was truly substantial? Sure, he edged our borders a bit outward... But that's not all that much. You do know, he let our chance to attack Iceclan more easily slip through our grasp, because he insisted on waiting too long?" Fight anger with facts. Hmph.
Then she shrugged. "Besides..." She tilted her head again. "What do you know about the potential of Deathclan, hm? I haven't seen Deathclan before its reputation declined sharply, and I've been here far longer than either of you have." She pointed out.

Aelin sat back and processed the information for a moment. "Intetesting that you think Patch is the only one who can actively help the clan. As I recall, I haven't seen her around recently. How does she account for that time and how do we know she won't disappear again?"

Natalia rolled her eyes. "I've never met you before. If you know how, it's rather easy to avoid other cats." Then she shrugged. "You seem to love Pain so much as a leader... Yet, he's disappeared as well with no sign of ever returning. You know, there were several cats interested in stealing Pain's leader position as well. They all disappeared as well." She tilted her head. "If she disappears again... Things won't be any different from how they've been recently."

Aelin raised her chin just a little at the other cat's words. "I didn't like Pain as a leader. My point is that if there is going to be a new leader we should be sure that the change will be worth it." she responded. "And what gives anyone the right to step forward and say their taking control. She should have to prove herself in some way."

((asdfghjkl; i realize we probably need to give rot & patch a chance to reply but I really wanna post :UUUUU))
Natalia tilted her head. ".... I suppose. How would you say she do that then? Pain blinded the cat who attempted to take power before he did after Dove died. However, a fight between Patch and Pain is for obvious reasons... Not possible." Especially since Patch would never fight Pain. "So, what would you suggest?"

(Lol, same here. I'll wait for them after this post.)
Aelin considered for a moment. "That is what Pain did, but each cat must prove themselves differently. I'd say a tournament would be one option, any challengers facing off against each other until the last one standing fought Patch herself. Another option would be to prove her leadership skills. A trial of a moon or so would do that. Proving her leadership could also be through a vote. There are many ways to claim leadership, but you cannot claim it unless you have first proven that you are a worthy leader. Otherwise, revolts will be more likely to happen and that wouldn't be good for any cat."
