Kot scoffed, indignantly calling back up to her, "I'm perfectly fine, thank you very much." He bounded to catch up, his thin but powerful legs propelling him jump after jump until he was behind Unity. He was a nimble cat and never relied on brute force over intelligent manoeuvring in battle. THe same went for his elegant movement through the canyon. He gave a flick of his tail and eyed Unity, almost challengingly. "Let's keep going, yes?"

Unity Unity purred and started up again till she had finally reached the top, looking over a vast landscape that was several million times bigger than herself. It was most interesting to get a new type of scenery that wasn't the forest. Looking behind her she noticed Kot creep up, his black pelt still almost blending it. Sort of. More than her own. His merely looked as if it was a misplaced shadow.
Flicking her tail over the territory before them she mewed, "So what do ya think? Pretty big eh?"

(Lol that's okay)
Kot came to a halt at his grey-furred companion's side and followed her gaze as she looked out over the landscape. A smile brightened his features, glinting eyes reflecting the seemingly endless landscape that stretched itself out before them. "Huge," he agreed, briefly pulling his attention away to shoot her a smirk. He couldn't help but wonder what kind of things were lying in wait out there. The world seemed like such a big place, especially from their vantage point. "Makes you curious about what kind of things could be out there, doesn't it?"

Unity The tortoiseshell of multiple shades of gray shrugged, then nodded. "There is a grand adventure waiting out there beyond those cliffs." She purred, smirking back at the tom as his attention turned to her for a mere second. "So much to explore, but I have all the time in the world."
Unity was still young, had plenty of time on her paws and she was always looking to use it. The apprentice aged she-cat looked around behind them now, an oddly lush forest laying behind them. "Wonder what kind of prey there would be in there." She mused, her attention now fully on the forest. "What do you think Kot, want to give me a little hunting lesson?" there are two kinds of people in the world; those who look to the future, and those who look to the past. nette of gs

Kot flicked a black ear. "Hunting lesson, eh?" He repeated, following her gaze until his eyes were tinted green by the reflection of the forest that was now present in the sapphire pools. "Alright. Lead the way?" He signalled with his tail for her to start heading towards the emerald woodlands.

Unity Unity smirked and flicked her tail as she spun around and headed forward towards the greener lands. The forest did look slightly dryer than the one she called home back around the plains, but all the more it was a forest, and it smelled greatly of prey.
Bounding into the area she lifted her nose and parted her jaws, drinking in the scents.
"I smell... She trailed, closing her eyes so the sight of the forest wouldn't mess up her conclusion. "Mouse... vole... and squirrel."
Looking back over to Kot she read over his eyes, looking for the same recognition. Notes • It's all good, i've been having issues finding my muse as well. Plus school has basically drained me and i want my summer back. nette of gs

Kot bounded after her, huffing in relief when the harsh heat of the stone beneath his pads gave way to the soft, cool touch of grass. Then he heard Unity's analysis of the scents around them and also stopped for a moment to take in the smells. Maw parted slightly, he took in a breath. "Mhm, I smell it too," he agreed with a nod. The forest made him eager to return to his nest in DeathClan, if it hadn't already been snatched up by another clan-mate. He disbanded those thoughts with a shake of his head and surveyed their surroundings. "I think there are some birds nesting around here as well."

Unity The loner perked her ears and listened closely in on the tom's words, making sure she didn't miss a hiss of his lips. She wanted to know everything there was to know about hunting, mostly because winter was approaching fast. When winter hit food would be scarce and hostility would rise even more so than it already was.
"I guess, pick out the easiest prey and show me a technique?" She suggested, her voice dripping with curiosity. Unity was in desperate need of these hunting skills. Sorry for the long reply <3 nette of gs

(It's okay! I've been inactive lately too with school starting back up ^w^')
"I would say the easiest prey to hunt is the vole. They're very similar to mice but built thicker, so they tend to be slower," he explained thoughtfully. At least, that's what he thought. He'd always noted mice to be faster than their wiry counterparts. As for techniques... He wasn't really sure what to teach her. "So that I don't treat you like a fool, why don't you tell me what you already know about hunting?" he suggested, turning his blue eyes to meet hers.

Unity This was where she met the issue, the fact that she didn't even know what she knew about hunting. Since she had never really been taught how to hunt she had merely just, pounced and killed. That was her own personal technique. This 'pounce and kill' was often made up of a pounce, a bite or a break of a spine, and a kill. Simple.
"Well I uh, know how to kill things..." She trailed, flashing him a nervous smile before she looked back at her paws. The loner's fur beginning to get hotter than midday in the summer.
"Just... kill it and I'll follow up." there are two kinds of people in the world; those who look to the future, and those who look to the past. nette of gs

Ah. He'd somewhat expected this reaction. He felt a smirk crawl onto his face at the fact the young, grey loner wasn't actually sure how to hunt. But he understood. He hadn't really been taught either, since he refused to take instruction from his parents when he was younger. And eventually he had fled home before he learned anything about life in the wild. But that was a tale for another time. Kot flicked his tail. "I understand. Alright, just watch me then." He nodded to her and followed one of the scent trails he'd caught earlier, finding himself on the tail of a squirrel. He spotted the creature with the furry tail and his muscles tensed almost instinctively. Lowering into a crouch, he crept closer. Slowly. Silently. Muscles bunched, released, and he sprung forward, landing squarely on his prey and killing it with a snap of it's neck. Then he gazed back at Unity to make sure she'd been paying attention. "What'd you think?"

Unity Unity watched with a critical eye, watching every movement of the tom's muscles as they moved with him in his steps. The way they bunched before he pounced then lengthened as he was in air. Even the way he landed squarely onto the creature, ending its life quickly and simply. He made it look so effortless, so easy.
"Well I'll tell you Kot." She mewed, still staring at the squirrel under his paws, stomach growling at her. "When I go in for the kill, be ready for me to miss."
Lifting her mussel to the air and parting her jaws she drank in the scent of a mouse, and with this being the first scent she picked up it was the prey she targeted. Claws unsheathed she picked her way through the brush until the mouse came into her silver sights. Looking back over her shoulder for approval from Kot before she made any further movements. there are two kinds of people in the world; those who look to the future, and those who look to the past. nette of gs

He let out a soft laugh at her remark. "We'll see," he hummed, and sat back to watch as she took her turn on the hunt. It had been a while since he didn't hunt specifically to eat, and so he was enjoying this. His blue eyes lingered on her grey form, watching her movements keenly. He saw as she cast a glance back at him and he gave a praising nod, signalling she should continue, his tail flicking curiously. Kot was rather curious, wondering if perhaps the young female really wasn't that great of a hunter.

Unity Upon receiving his signal she was off, her paws pounding on the ground. Small figure shooting through the green in a streak of silver. This streak landing directly onto the prey of which she pounced on, sinking her claws into's its back as it squealed in pain. Bringing down her jaws she snapped its neck, the creature finally going limp.
Looking back up she smirked shyly at her sloppy kill, turning back to it and licking the blood from its wound. there are two kinds of people in the world; those who look to the future, and those who look to the past. nette of gs

Kot watched, a little surprised at her method. It got the job done, granted, but he was also mostly positive every other animal in the vicinity had fled, making further hunting difficult. Well, he probably shouldn't have expected better from her. She was young, after all, and evidently hadn't had the chance to learn from anyone the proper way to execute a kill before he came along. He walked over to the young female, gazing at her thoughtfully. "You killed it," he offered in bland praise. "It wasn't the most efficient way it could be done... You want to make your kill silent, so that it doesn't alert every other creature in the area, for one," he began explaining, looking at the dead animal at her paws.
