basicname ▪ foxstrike
gender ▪ male
sexuality ▪ demisexual
rank ▪ warrior
affiliation ▪ treeclan [half-clan by blood] appearancebase fur ▪ dark brown tabby
markings ▪ orange tabby patches
fur length ▪ short
build ▪ foxstrike is slightly taller than average, with lean muscles and powerful front legs. he is light on his feet, preferring not to make any noise at any time
eyes ▪ cloudy gray, blind
scent ▪ oak, bracken, tree bark, earth personalitybasic ▪ foxstrike can often come off as blunt, which is mistaken for him being rude. it's never his intention to do this, but it is a common misconception. he can be wary at first, keeping careful track of his own movements and facial expressions, as to not reveal anything, and also watchful of the movements of others. he is easily irritated, particularly when confronted about his disability, because he doesn't consider his blindness as a limitation, rather, as one less distraction. he's eager to prove himself to those who underestimate him.
while in conversation, foxstrike will at first be very aware of his own tone, and work to make sure there is nothing revealed from it. he typically keeps his face blank, and his voice level. around cats that he is more comfortable around, though, he will make an effort to be more "casual." he can be awkward at times, but will occasionally make a quip or smart comment. he is clever, and quick-witted. his speech pattern tends to be advanced and civilized- it is this way because he spent so much time listening to the entire camp speak as a young cat.
under his sometimes prickly exterior, foxstrike is more willing to tease, and to cause a little bit of mischief once in a while. he will muse upon his inner thoughts out loud, revealing that he is not as insensitive and stoic as he tries to make himself seem. n order to see this, a cat must have earned his trust fully.
likes ▪ quiet, exploring, physical contact with those closest to him, the voices of those close to him, night
dislikes ▪ rain, loud noises, crowds
strengths ▪ observant, careful, strategic
weaknesses ▪ reluctant to trust others or to accept help, prideful, sometimes defensive
fears ▪ abandonment, being useless, getting lost, thunder
secrets ▪ none so far
quirks ▪ flicks ears and tail when irritated, tends to avoid looking directly at others familyfather Duststorm ▪ he was absent for most of foxstrike's life, but returned soon after he had been given his warrior name. while still somewhat angry, foxstrike forgave him, and is working to restore the bond that had been lost. mother Brissa [account deleted] ▪ brissa was a loner who joined treeclan just before having her kits. foxstrike didn't know her very well, and she disappeared sometime while he was an apprentice, but she is the cause of his half-clan status. siblingsFallenpaw [account deleted] ▪ foxstrike thought that perhaps she was a little too bubbly to spend a lot of time with, and too easily distracted, but he liked to spend time with her regardless. he misses her.
Volekit [account deleted] ▪ she seemed less energetic than most of the kits he had dealt with before, which is as intriguing to him as it is appealing. he enjoyed speaking with her. he misses her, too.
Leopardheart ▪ foxstrike met with her, twice, once as a kit, and once after the return of their father. they haven't talked much other than that though, and foxstrike has often wondered how to start a conversation with her.
Panthershade ▪ he knows they share the same mother, yet not the same father. foxstrike didn't speak to panthershade very much, but somewhat fears he might be a bit reckless in the future. his heart is in the right place, though. offspringHollowkit ▪ hollow is foxstrike's firstborn, mothered by hornetstripe. he hasn't met her yet.
@forests ▪ forestfox is foxstrike's first son. they met once, but honestly, foxstrike isn't entirely sure what to think. he's proud of his son, regardless, though, and regrets not coming to see him nearly as much as he should have.
Birchpaw ▪ birch is foxstrike's second daughter. he tried to be a 'cool dad' so he's a little worried that she thinks he's an idiot. he feels guilty- she's blind, and he believes that it's because of him, despite the fact that it isn't hereditary. he hopes that she'll forgive him for that, when they meet again.
Crowpaw ▪ crow is foxstrike's second son. they haven't met yet. relationshipsacquaintancesJaguardapple ▪ While he is attempting to act civil around her, he still has difficulty putting her misconduct behind him. They aren't enemies anymore, but she's still a cat Foxstrike would rather avoid. friendsFinchwhisper ▪ Foxstrike admires her thought process, and the care she puts into her words. Her pursuit of knowledge over any attachment is inspiring to Foxstrike, though he still finds value in certain relationships.
Lynxheart ▪ Not so much friend, as much as somebody Foxstrike knows he should respect, given that Lynxheart was Foxstrike's mentor. enemies
crushesHornetstripe ▪ Until recently, Foxstrike had believed he only cared for Hornetstripe as a friend. They have known each other since they were kits, and while Foxstrike now accepts that he has romantic for her, he doesn't believe she would feel the same way, and is unsure of where his boundaries should lie. He doesn't know how or if to approach her about the subject. partners historyFoxstrike was born to Brissa, who was until recently a loner, and Duststorm, a TreeClan warrior. He was blind from birth, and only half-clan. As a kit, he spent a majority of his time exploring the limits of his senses and mapping out the camp. He didn't approach others very often, aware of the fact that he was 'different,' yet still not entirely sure how he was different. He listened to others more than he participated in conversation himself, yet would interact on occasion, with family members, and the kits who dared get close enough to him. He was warmer to his family, then, back when they were all together, and he was willing to joke with them more easily. He liked to consider himself the big brother, despite being one of the youngest, simply because he was the only tom of them all.
During this time, he met his sisters, Volekit, Fallenkit, and Leopardkit (now Leopardheart), and very briefly, his mother. His father had already disappeared.
He also met Hornetkit (now Hornetstripe), who was the only cat outside his family that was curious about his blindness, as opposed to overly sensitive, or disgusted. It intrigued Fox, as much as it pleased him, and he considered her a friend, even though they had only met once. He encountered Jaguarpaw (now Jaguardapple), but grew to quickly dislike her, on account of her arrogance and willingness to blame others for her own mistakes, and Finchpaw (now Finchwhisper), who he admired for her different ways of thinking, and her pursuit of knowledge over any sort of companionship with others.
During his apprenticehood, he became more closed off, as more of his family disappeared. He thrust himself into his training, eager not to fall behind. He was given Lynxheart as a mentor, yet spent most of his time perfecting what he had learned from her on his own time. He ventured out of camp, often alone, and worked to commit the entire TreeClan territory to memory. He spoke with Finchwhisoer once more, and met up with Dovekit (now Dovefur) and Dewkit (now Dewmask), two other blind kits. He attempted to help them come to terms with their blindness, and show them ways to get around. He was surprised to find they didn't appreciate what being blind meant for their other senses. He also spoke with Jaguardapple, and while he still thought her attitude was unbecoming of a warrior, put their earlier argument behind them.
During one of his outings, Hornetpaw helped him, and he was willing to accept her assistance on account of their friendship and her genuine good will. While they were going through the territory, Hornetpaw tried to show him the stars by drawing a pattern in the dirt, and in return, Foxpaw tried to show her his world by leading her to the stream, and asking her to listen. Since that day, Foxstrike hasn't been sure of his feelings toward Hornetstripe. They felt like something more than friendship.
Soon after becoming a warrior, his father returned, and Foxstrike confronted him. He forgave Duststorm, though still harbored some bitter feelings towards him, until discussing (more like ranting) them with Hornetstripe. During this meeting, he also confronted his feelings for Hornetstripe within himself, though refrained from saying anything. He became fully aware that she was more than a friend to him, but did not mention it, since he didn't believe she felt the same way. oocname ▪ dami/fox

Panthershade - Ha! Good luck with that!
But Panther is Fox's brother, so he'd be more inclined to be polite and hold his tongue. Can you make a thread?

Maybe Fox and Hornet could meet? She's quite quiet at first, but would probably want to know all about Fox's blindness and how he goes about things.
In terms of a relationship, that could be figured out depending on how the encounter goes.

Hornetstripe - Sure! That'd be fine! He's never met somebody curious about his blindness, before, so it could be interesting. Would you mind making a thread? I have one to reply to right now--

Updated (12/22/15) for apprenticeship and edited relations! Threads made as a it will probably not be continued simply because I feel weird roleplaying him as a kit when he is now an apprentice, officially.

Perhaps we could have another thread together? It could be fun, and a bit strengthening of the slight attachment bond, whether it be one-sided or not, or wherever we would decide to go with it. <3

Finchwhisper - Sure! I can make a thread now since I'm on mobile but I'd like to keep exploring their chemistry. If you want me to make a thread it'd have to be later, but I'm curious as to how Finchpaw would start a conversation actually...

Ah, wonderful! I'm glad we feel the same way. Hehe, that's a question I ponder during many a thread with her. xD Usually in a neutral way or provoked by actions, though yes, usually it's in an interesting/strange way. If you could make the thread, that would be great!

Updated 12/31/15 with more relationships! Happy new year!
Also I'd love for him to have more apprentice friends, even over the border--

Over the border apprentice friend. Boom!
No seriously, I think he should meet Swirlpaw, she knows what it's like to be treated differently due to blindness, and so she won't pity or judge him for it. I think they may get along in their shared deficiency.
