 MAPLEFROST OF ICECLAN The cracking of joints could be heard as an ancient calico stepped into the nursery. He hadn't been in here for… well, seasons. Normally, the queens weren't awfully fond of visitors. but he figured he could get away with telling a tale this once. It wasn't like cats came to his den anymore.

The majority of the kits in the nursery were either busy playing, eating, or sleeping. So, I guess that left her. Starling LOVED to hear stories and wisdom from other cats, so she jumped to attention and bounded her black furry little body over to Maplefrost. "A story? Wow, I LOVE stories! I'd love to hear from you especially, an elder with such infinite wisdom! I can only imagine."

MAPLEFROST OF ICECLAN In order to avoid accidentally stepping on someone, Maplefrost flopped down by one of the den walls. It was only a few moments later when he heard the pattering of paws and the excited voice of a kitten.

Starlingkit's eyes grew wide and she beamed. She'd heard so many horror stories of DeathClan, and had always wanted to hear about what happened here so many moons ago. All the queens were too young to have been there first hand, of course. "Would I! Did they have a different leader then? What was it like? You have to tell me." She spoke before shutting up her torrent of questions to let the ancient tom speak, flopping down next to him and snuggling in his cat fur bc kittens are cute like that.

"Ooooh, okay." She spoke with a nod. "I guess Drought may be relatively old then, too. He must be tough to still be in power." Starlingkit finished before looking up at him to go on.

Right. Getting a bit distracted. "It was the middle of the night when they attacked. They'd slipped right past the moon-high patrol, and we didn't even know what was happening until they were in our midst. As we'd learn later, DeathClan had been launching a series of attacks on the other Clans, and IceClan was the last obstacle in the way of their dominance."

"Dominance, huh? I can see that didn't go off so well, being as we're still here." She spoke with a small laugh, flicking the tip of her tail. "So, how did you fend them off? They seem like such a big Clan, from what I've heard. If you'd call them that."

"Unfortunately, that's not what happened. They were ruthless and we hadn't been expecting them at all. It seemed like the DeathClanners were everywhere. We were practically fighting for our lives - by the time someone realized that Drought was going for the nursery, it was too late."

She flattened her ears, putting her head on her paws and swallowing. The idea of something like that happening again, in her life time, frightened her. "Those poor kits." She said, frowning a bit. "What happened afterward?"

"Not hard to imagine that." She said, sighing a bit. "Many leaders are ruthless. Even Wildstar likely is; though, I've heard she's not been around for quite some time." She rambled, then snapped back to attention. "I hope I don't sound like I am excusing his actions. It's just sick with how much it happens. Or, so I have heard."

"For all anyone around here can tell, Wildstar's already dead. Robinfrost is certainly tight-lipped on the matter," Maplefrost sighed. "The good news is that main Clans don't usually go as far as DeathClan does. Still. It was only thanks to a traitor named Lyric that we managed to get our kit back and free ourselves from their tyranny."
