Forestpaw padded into the apprentices' den with a yawn. It was very dark out, but he still wasn't tired. He walked over to his nest and sat down, wondering if anyone was awake.

[Nightfall]

Nightpaw was staring at the entrance to the apprentice's den.

It was dark out and she was contemplating going outside to stare at the stars. She'd never quite taken a close look at them before, but she was getting desperate for learning something. Her mentor hadn't taught her anything in moons and she was getting twitchy. No scratch that, she already was twitchy. She was on the verge of abandoning Treeclan for a different clan just for the sake of learning.

Then some other cat who seemed wide awake strolled into the apprentice's den. Nightpaw's attention was caught. A subject. That could be interesting. Or maybe she was getting desperate. Regardless, she imagined she was the only other one awake because of how late it was getting. Her blue eyes fixed onto the apprentice. She figured she should shoot a greeting.

"Hello."

Forestpaw looked around the den at the sound of a greeting. His eyes landed on a black cat. Or at least, he assumed she was black. It was too dark to tell.

'I guess a conversation couldn't hurt. I hope I don't regret this.' He cleared his throat. "Hey." He gave her a nod, though wasn't sure if she could see it or not.

[Nightfall]

Nightpaw could indeed see Forestpaw.

Well, she could see well enough to see that he'd moved his head. "I am Nightpaw." She meowed all of a sudden.

Forestpaw raised an eyebrow. "Um... Okay? I didn't ask." He sighed, settling down on his stomach before continuing. "Why are you awake, Nightpaw?"

[Nightfall]

Nightpaw didn't respond at all at first.

"You would've eventually." She meowed. "I'm awake because I was considering going outside to look at the stars." She meowed sincerely.

He stretched, digging his front claws into the moss. "Then why are you still in here?"

[Nightfall]

Nightpaw cocked her head.

"Plans can change. You are more interesting and engaging." She never saw any need in withholding information for the sake of others.

[Deleted]

"I'm flattered." He purred. "You, on the other hand, are an idiot. I can't believe you wouldn't follow through on your plans like that."

[Nightfall]

Nightpaw cocked her head.

"The stars will not fall out of the sky. There are other nights. It's Greenleaf, where cloudy nights are far from frequent."

[Deleted]

"Yeah, or you could die in your sleep and never see the sky again." He shook his head to himself.

[Nightfall]

Nightpaw's ear flicked.

"That is highly unlikely as I am currently well in terms of physical health. I do not believe I have antagonized any of our clanmates to the point of them wishing me harm. Further, I do not believe any enemies of the clan would immediately attack the apprentice's den." She meowed, using logic to take apart Forestpaw's statement.

Forestpaw rolled his eyes at Nightpaw's statements. She kind of reminded him of someone. Sorrelpaw, maybe. He huffed. "Or you could have one of those diseases that's hard to diagnose. A silent killer, y'know?" He didn't really like this cat. 'I might just kill her in her sleep so she could wake up in CloudClan. Then I could look up at the sky and say, "I told you so!" Hah...' He grinned at the thought.

[Nightfall]

Nightpaw tilted her head.

"If there are no symptoms evident than I believe I am fine for the time being." She meowed. This tom was a bit morbid. Were all cats like this? Oh well. At least he was occupying her time in a satisfying way.

Forestpaw groaned. "Silly little Nightpaw. Don't you know how common dying in your sleep is?" His green eyes glittered. "Could be tonight. Or tomorrow night. Or five moons from now. You never know."
