Serenity glanced at Esther, a movement covered by an overhanging branch and the tumbling water as she drank. She lifted her head rather quickly though, not noticing the tree branch before her hit it. "Ouch!" she exclaimed, more surprised than hurt.

Esther flinched, startled by the sudden sound. She looked over with a frown. "Are you okay?" That looked like it hurt.

Serenity nodded, ducking out from under the branch. "Yeah. Just hit my head. " she responded as she sat and licked her paw.

Esther didn't move her gaze. "But, does it hurt? Do you need medicine?" She seemed too casual after having just injured herself.

Serenity shook her head, laughter in her eyes. "I'm fine. I just bumped my head. That isn't a good enough excuse to go lick my wounds. I've been through enough wheree that barely even hurts anymore." she said. It had never really hurt, that type of injury, but nowddays it hurt eeven less.

"Um... Okay." Esther didn't understand. Even if Serenity had been through a lot, wouldn't an injury still hurt? 'I'm sure she just doesn't want to show a weakness.'

Serenity took a deep breath and put a ssmile on her face, deciding to try to be more kind. "So, do you have any good friends here in deathclan?"

Esther shook her head. "Besides my sister, you're the only DeathClanner I've met." She looked down, a little embarrassed.

"You have a sister?" she asked, her face softening for a moment before turning hard. She remembered her sisters but they had their paths chosed long ago. "Whom, if you don't mind me assking."

"Yes." She noticed Serenity's expression change, and wondered if she too had kin in DeathClan. "Her name's Parisa." She tipped her head. "Do you have any siblings?"

Serenity bit her lip and semi nodded, semi shook her head. "I used to have a big family, with 4 sisters and 3 brothers." she bit her lip. She would not cry. The white she cat sat down in front of Esther before continuing. "I now have one disowned brother who I hope to never see again. I'd rather die. Then I have one technical sister who is not related to me at all."

Esther listened patiently, frowning when Serenity finished up. "That's unfortunate." But it was kind of expected, considering Serenity ended up in DeathClan and her family was so big. It was like every cat here had family problems. "That's a lot of siblings. Are you the youngest?"

Serenity shook her head. "3 older siblings ans 3 younger. One only younger by a few minutes." she smiled fondly, remembering her only littermate.

Esther didn't say anything. She couldn't imagine what it would be like to have so many siblings and not live around them. 'I bet she misses them terribly.' "Were you closest to your littermate?"

Serenity thought for a moment. "From when I was born, yess, then when it was just Blade, him, and me, I grew even closer to him. Then he died." she shrugged, her voice noncholant.
