SwanfrostBrightpaw sighed as she lay down at the water's edge, allowing her paws to dangle over the edge and occasionally graze the pond's surface. She sighed, lowering her head to rest on her forepaws. Her tail quietly twitched against the grass behind her before settling. She was really just... Very, very tired. She just... She didn't really feel anything asides from vague exasperation and this... Feeling of exhaustion and burn out. She doubted anyone could really change the way she felt right now....

Swanpaw's eyes bulged and she let out a frantic, childish squeal. Her worst nightmare had come true. Of all things that could have happened to her, it had to be this.... She fell in the mud. Swanpaw shook her body furiously, mud spraying in every direction. Swanpaw sprinted over towards the nearest water source, lunging straight in without a second thought. She forgot that it would be cold. Swanpaw stood, legs shaking as she let out another squeal. "This day cant get any worse!" She snarled to herself, now half muddy, half sopping wet as she dragged herself out of the pond. Her nose twitched at the familiar scent of a feline, turning around to spot Brightpaw, calm by the waters edge. "Oh. Hi." She greeted as casually as possible.

Brightpaw lifted her head from her paws, staring as a mud covered Swanpaw suddenly dashed onto the scene, jumping into the pond. The pond that was actually rather cold, what with Leaf-bare existing and all. She blinked, not sure what to make of the scene. She wondered if Swanpaw would have an easier time becoming dry, what with less fur. It made sense, honestly. Hence, why Brightpaw wasn't taking a swim herself.
Though... It didn't look like the rex had gotten all the mud off of her. She folded her ears back, wondering if Swanpaw's bad mood would turn on her. Though, it didn't seem like it. "Um... Hi...." She said carefully. Then she coughed. "Um, you could try wiping the mud off with some moss..." She suggested nervously, not sure how her suggestion would be taken. Cats usually hated what she had to say.

Swanpaw blinked, staring at her for a moment. Why did she sound nervous? Swanpaw was a rather small cat, though she supposed her rotten mood could be intimidating... or the fact that she looked like a swamp monster. It was probably that.
"Right, moss.." She nodded, an awkward smile on her face. If only the suggestion had been made before she leapt into the cold pond. Speaking of that, she was freezing. Noticing a wide clump off moss near the water she dropped onto her back, rolling around wildly in an attempt to free herself from the sticky mud.

((Brightpaw is weird around cats who don't hate her and aren't adults tbh
Brightpaw smiled awkwardly, feeling really weird about this whole situation. Her ears folded down again when Swanpaw started rolling the moss. That... Um... Wasn't really what she meant.
She slowly got to her paws and walked over to Swanpaw. "Um... I'd like to help you...? I mean, maybe it'd be easier if I picked up a clump of moss and wiped the mud off you like that...." She trailed off.

(Swanpaw is just weird in general xD)
Swanpaw paused as Brightpaw walked over to her, slapping her paw against her face. "That would probably make things easier." She agreed, rolling onto her paws. She looked towards Brightpaw was a slight smirk. "You know, I'd rather you be yourself around me." She mocked her in a teasing tone. Swanpaw got the feeling that Brightpaw didn't exactly know how to act around her, kind of like how it went, except vice versa, when Swanpaw first met the feline.

((Tbh... Bright too. She's just... Extra weird that way.
Brightpaw let out an internal sigh of relief when Swanpaw didn't rebuke her offer of help. She shuffled her paws. "Er... Yeah..." She said quietly, sounding unsure. She picked up some moss, clumping it around her unsheathed claws on her right paw, and tentatively started scraping the mud out of the thin-furred apprentice's practically nonexistent pelt. 'Thing is... I'm not sure who 'myself' is...' Not that she would tell Swanpaw that out loud.

Swanpaw twitched impatiently, her tail thumping against the ground. She never did like sitting still, though it felt good to have the mud scraped off. "So... you're still a 'paw', right?" Perhaps the question was some kind of trigger for Brightpaw, though curiosity often killed the Swanpaw.

((ASDFGHJKL; 'KILLED THE SWANPAW'
Brightpaw nodded silently in response. She was still an apprentice. Though, she would've thought Swanpaw would've noticed if she'd had her ceremony. She was thankful for the thin-pelted apprentice's stillness, it provided a force against her paw pushing the moss into the mud and forcing it off.

(I had to, it was just too perfect :3)
Swanpaw craned her neck to see the oddly quiet apprentices response, although she didn't catch the nodding gesture, she simply assumed it was a yes. "How come? Did you do something bad?" Her eyes sparkled, neck still twisted at an awkward angle to face her. She wouldn't doubt it if she looked slightly psychopathic.

Brightpaw shook her head. "I dunno. I passed my assessment. I'm not sure what Oceanstar is waiting on...." She said quietly. "... Maybe he wants to make sure I'm... Stable or something. My siblings are... They don't really inspire much confidence in their ability to be beneficial to Fireclan."

Swanpaw nodded in understanding, thinking back to Brightpaws siblings. "You're not anything like them." Swanpaw offered her with a shrug. "Willowpaw and Aloepaw don't seem so bad, though..." She wasn't so sure if she really believed that.

Brightpaw folded her ears back, scraping the last of the mud off of Swanpaw. ".... Thank you. And..." She sighed. "Maybe I've been overreacting this whole time..." She shook her head gently. "I've pretty much accepted that my siblings won't ever change at this point..." She cleared her throat. "So... It's fine. I don't need reassurances."

Swanpaw stood, shaking out her thin pelt to make sure it really was all off. "No, thank you." She sat back down, this time facing the apprentice. She listened with interest, rolling her eyes a little. "Oh come on, you can't really think that. Everybody eventually changes, whether they want to or not. Some day, your siblings will grow up."

Brightpaw scoffed, as she sat back on her rump. She shook her head gently. "I can't believe that... I can't... I can't take waiting and hoping they'll change for the better." She said softly. She turned to lay down on her side. "Can we talk about something else? This is depressing."
