Swanpaw waved her off with a paw, flopping down onto her back. She stared up at the plain, boring grey sky. "Fine, fine. What do you want to talk about?" Her front paws curled neatly on her chest, tail flicking back and forth.

Brightpaw shrugged. She looked up at the sky as well. "What do you do for fun?"

Swanpaw thought about it for a moment, hesitant to answer. What did she do for fun? "Depends, I guess. I usually hang out with Thunderpaw... Sometimes I pull pranks with Jaguarpaw?" Lies. Kind of. She used to do that with Jaguarpaw, who she wasn't even so sure she could consider a friend. "What about you?"

Brightpaw thought about it for a moment. "Well, I love things that get my blood pumping. I like chasing rabbits around." She frowned. "But... That's kind of hunting and my duties... Does that count?" She asked, sounding unsure of herself. She sighed. "Fireclan is mostly flat so... There's... Really not much excitement in the way of physical activity."

Swanpaw snorted in amusement at her response. "I don't know about that." She despised physical activity. An idea popped into her mind, and she grinned. "We could spar. That's pretty physical, right?" Standing, Swanpaw crouched. She didn't wait for an answer, she had her mind set. Proving she was a fairly good fighter would be fun, as most cats underestimated her. Although Brightpaw was older than her, and probably had a lot more experience, this was for fun. She wasn't worried about losing.

Brightpaw sighed. "Thought not." Did that make her weird? She had no idea. Probably. She seemed to stink at getting her point across, so she must be a total weirdo. That was... Not really great for positive thinking. "Er, sure. Claws sheathed, right?" She wanted to doublecheck. She didn't... She didn't think other cats usually were up to fighting with claws out like her siblings, but she felt it couldn't hurt to check. She didn't really want any surprises...

Swanpaw was confused by her question for a few moments. "Well, yeah." She wrinkled her nose, making the answer seem completely obvious. She hadn't intended to try and make Brightpaw feel bad for asking, though, it really was a strange question to her. She lashed her tail, circling around her opponent. She would let Brightpaw have the first move.

Brightpaw hesitated for a moment and then she nodded. Then Swanpaw started circling around her. She imagined the thin-furred she-cat wanted her to make the first move. She bent her legs, and made a show of trying to attack the other apprentice's tail. She'd tensed her muscles, before springing. She didn't put enough speed into her pounce. Her attack would be easily dodged.

Swanpaw simply stared. She didn't move, making a point of sitting down so Brightpaw could actually land her blow. It was painfully obvious the apprentice wasn't trying, but why? She found it offence. "I'm a better fighter than you think, you don't need to treat me like a fragile kitten." She seethed.

Brightpaw yawned. "I think I'm a little tired, sorry." Well, that part was true... Even if she was very used to summoning energy where she had none. She still had trouble sleeping. She moved around to behind Swanpaw, then with her incredibly sharp speed, that was above average even by Fireclan's standards... She slammed the entirety of her weight in an area, aiming for the back of the thin-pelted apprentice's neck.

Swanpaw was fast too, her breed had especially long and powerful legs. She managed to move out of the way, though Brightpaw was going too fast and managed to slam into her back leg, sending Swanpaw struggling to keep her balance. She quickly recovered, rearing onto her back legs and aiming to wrap her paws around Brightpaw's neck. If she managed to do that, she planned on dragging her to the ground.

Brightpaw had noticed the speed Swanpaw had. She figured it was likely the smaller apprentice's natural speed. The tabby had always been rather fast herself, but she'd put that particular talent of her's through training, so it would be of true use.
Still, she managed to slam into the rex's back leg, throwing Swanpaw off balance. Then suddenly Swanpaw was trying to strangle Brightpaw, as the paws went around her neck. Before Swanpaw could do anything, she reared up and tried to slam onto her back, likely throwing Swanpaw.

(Not sure if you meant that you wanted to slam Swanpaw on her back, or Brightpaw... I'm gonna assume Brightpaw.) Swanpaw gasped her Brightpaw tipped backwards, eyes narrowed. She quickly dropped her hold on Brightpaws neck, rolling to the side before she could be taken down with her. Now that Brightpaw was on her back, she was left slightly defenceless. Swanpaw lunged forward quickly, dropping right on Brightpaws head. She attempted to clamp her jaws around Brightpaws own, that way the apprentice couldn't bite her.

Brightpaw felt Swanpaw let go of her. The minute she was able to feel pressure against the ground, she rolled to the side, away from Swanpaw. She'd be damned if the less experienced apprentice didn't take advantage of that brief moment of weakness! Luckily, Swanpaw's snapping jaws missed her face. She already had scars from Almondfire on both sides of her face. She wondered why the heck Swanpaw was trying to bite her during a spar. She decided to ask.
"Why are you trying to bite my face off?" She asked, trying to be calm, though... It did come out a bit heavy, considering the workout they were having. In return, she ran straight at Swanpaw, looking like she was about to charge into the other apprentice's face, but changing her trajectory ever so slightly at the last moment, rushing past Swanpaw. She swung her hindlegs to try and kick the smaller apprentice in the side.

Swanpaw seethed as her attack failed, tail lashing. "I wouldn't hurt you." She rolled her eyes, crouching to the ground.
Since she assumed Brightpaw was moving straight towards her face, Swanpaw had moved to jump straight over her. She was confused when Brightpaws legs swung out, though she had already cleared right over her. Spinning nimbly on her paws she faced her head on once again, moving forward to close the gap between them. Swanpaw aimed a few blows at her face.
