(Oakkit)
Midnightkit woke with a start. Jerking her head up, her stomach leaped when she realized that she had fallen asleep. Checking through a crack in the Nursery wall, Midnightkit let out a sigh of relief when she saw it was still night. Midnight, in fact. Carefully weaving past bodies of sleeping cats, Midnightkit tasted the air. The familiar scent of Oakkit soon came. Almost tripping over a sleeping kit, Midnightkit finally made it to Oakkit's nest. Leaning close to his ear, Midnightkit gently prodded his side. "It's time." Midnightkit quietly breathed into Oakkit's ear.

O akkit had been having a wonderful dream when he was prodded awake. He looked up with sleepy eyes and caught a blurry image of Midnightkit's face. Suddenly, the image cleared up and he sprang to life, nearly leaping out of the nest. He stole a glance outside and saw that it was midnight, and many stars were out and shinning.

Midnightkit was about to prod Oakkit again when, suddenly, Oakkit leaped up in his nest. Whisker twitching, Midnightkit purred, "Are you ready to go outside and take a real look?" Excited as he was, Midnightkit carefully padded to the entrance of the Nursery, looking over her shoulder to see if he was following her.

O akkit followed Midnightkit with a large smile. As soon as they were out of the nursery, he looked up through the treetops to see a million stars dotting the night sky. He had seen nothing more beautiful, and instantly thought of home. He couldn't believe that he had forgotten of their traditions. "At my old clan, we used to have festivals of moonlight." (( where are these apprentice ceremonies XD ))

Gazing at the sky full of stars, all of Midnightkit's worries vanished. Sitting down, she took a deep breath. The stars seemed to welcome her, to tell her that everything was all right. Midnightkit's ears pricked up when she heard Oakkit's mew. Moonlight festivals? Midnightkit thought, flicking her tail. "What were they about?" Midnightkit asked, deeply interested.

O akkit brought his gaze down to meet Midnightkit's eyes. He noticed that what he just said was probably really weird sounding, so he tried explaining. "Well, it's a night where we celebrate the moonlight." If that explanation wasn't good enough, he would try something better.

Flicking her ear, Midnightkit wasn't sure if that sounded quite right. "Why would you celebrate moonlight?" Midnightkit asked, taking it back right away. Midnightkit thought she sounded really mean by the sound of her voice. Shuffling her paws, Midnightkit said, "Sorry. What I meant was, what was the reason you celebrated the moonlight."

O akkit was not hurt or offended in the slightest. "It's okay. It's an old tradition. All light is sacred to my old clan, but what we loved best was the light of the stars. It is like memory, precious and pure. We celebrated it every full moon, dancing and feasting in it's light until sunrise." He wondered if it sounded weird that they feasted, but prey was very plentiful year-round.

Midnightkit's eyes lit up in the moonlight, her ears pricked. Midnightkit purred loudly as Oakkit described the moonlight festivals his old Clan had. "That sounds like so much fun!" Gazing back at the the Moon, Midnightkit hoped that her parents could see her now. Turning back to Oakkit, Midnightkit mewed, "What other festivals did you celebrate?"

O akkit gave her a wide smile, and his eyes twinkled in the light of a thousand stars. "We have Yeartide, which takes place during the winter solstice, marking the end of the death that leaf-fall brings, and first day of Winterfest. On this day, we believe the land is purified while she lies underneath her blanket of snow. Even in those regions where the sun doesn't rise and the snow lies eternally across the land, the winter solstice is seen as the changing of the old year into the new. On this day, we discuss quietly the past and share our thoughts on the future. My favorite celebration is Winterfest. It lasts 12 days and begins with it's first day being Yeartide. Although Yeartide itself is a day of meditation and sobriety, the following days of Winterfest are spent in joyfull celebration and merriment. The giving of gifts is common, as are various parties and gatherings. It's a lot of fun, I wish you could've been there to see it." Oakkit gave a short sigh, as if he was thinking about the past, then met her gaze again. "There are nine others, besides the three I've already mentioned."

Midnightkit stared at Oakkit in awe. How does he remember all of those? Midnightkit tried to remember anything cool that happened to her during her time with her family, but she couldn't. The only thing she could remember was the day she was taken away. Rolling her shoulders, Midnightkit glanced away for a second, feeling awkward. She felt bad that she trusted Oakkit, but then didn't tell him anything about her past. She knew she had to tell him someday.
"It's cool how you know all of that." Midnightkit finally mewed after a little while. Changing the subject, Midnightkit meowed, "Are you excited when we finally become apprentices?"

O akkit smiled. "I didn't stick around long enough to see all of them, but only a few helped me decide which ones I liked best." Then, as Midnightkit changed the subject, he answered her question with an excited expression. "I can't wait! I'm practically leaping out of my fur." At this, he gave a small laugh. He definitely sounded like a kit. (( on that thought, where are the ceremonies? ))

"I know! I'm so excited as well!" Midnightkit squeaked, leaping to her paws. "Who do you hope your mentor is?" Midnightkit asked, tipping her head a little. "I hope mine is Ashfall. He seems like a nice cat."
(I don't really know were the ceremonies are, but I think they might send a tag to you. I'm new to this, so don't take my word for it.)

O akkit thought for a moment, then responded, "I liked the sound of Squirrelbite. She seems mysterious, and I think I could learn a lot from her." He wanted someone he couldn't figure out at first glance, and he thought she would be the perfect cat. Besides, he could probably give her challenges and she would accept, or she would challenge him to things. Either way, she sounded like she would be a great mentor, and he couldn't wait.

"Yeah, she does seem mysterious." Midnightkit mewed, the tip of her tail twitching. Midnightkit saw the ginger warrior a few times, she did seem mysterious and ready for anyone to challenge her. Other times she had seen her with wounds along her pelt. I wonder how she gets those. Midnightkit thought. Shaking the thought away, Midnightkit turned back to Oakkit. "Anyway, I hope we get to train together."
