SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki turned all the way to face her, trying to meet her gaze, but it was avoided. He caught a tear that reflected the sun and dropped with the smallest thud to the grass. His fur relaxed and he bent down to eye level, which wasn't too far. Again, he tried making eye contact with her, his green gaze soft. "I'm here now, we're together now," Loki said, trying a small smile. Sometimes he forgot that his sister was younger, until moments like this, when he felt like a protective older brother. He only wished he had been there to protect her more often, instead of wallowing in his own pain.

"Exsactly," she said, her gaze shooting up and the tears starting to sting her eyes. "How. How do you just accept this all? How do you take it all in stride?"

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY A sigh escaped Loki's mouth, and his gaze temporarily wandered to the right before coming back to Cali's blue eyes. This was the truth that he had been hiding from, but it had to be said. "I've never accepted it. I've spent my days running from it, pretending I'm in the courtyards of Asgard, or waking up in my den at home. I've learned to pretend, but it never works. I always come back to reality, in time, and someday, reality will grab me and drag me under. It's done it before, when I saw that father truely favoured Thor, and it will do it again."

Calista shook her head wildly. "That's not what I mean. You - you should hate me. I hurt you. I hurt Thor. I hurt mother even. You shouldn't just accept it and move on. How do you do it?" she asked credously.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki barely licked his lips, which was a habit he had picked up when he didn't know an answer right away. He sat up and turned his head to look out amongst the treetops of Deathclan territory. Deathclan was mostly a marsh, so most the trees were mucky and scraggly. His voice was even when he began speaking again. "I don't hate you, even thought maybe I should, from your view. I never blamed you for... this." He gestured with his nose toward the lands he was looking at. "I blame myself."
His response probably wasn't the best, since Cali blamed herself, Thor blamed himself, and now Loki also blamed himself. Maybe it was the three of them together tha had caused this, but Loki was determined to fix it. "If I hadn't been blind when Thor took me on that hunting mission, then we would all be in Asgard now." He whipped his head back to meet Cali's gaze once again, and said with near determination, "but I intend to fix this. I'm going to find the Asgardian portal here, on Midgard, and I will restore our family to their rightful positions."

At Loki's words, a panic went through Calista. "No. You. Can. Not. Don't go back there. Without us the world still exsists. Do you really think a change in power will help keep peace? Isn't that our family's goal? To fend of threats and keep peace? I wasn't once told that a good ruler doesn't go looking for war. Going up against to current rulers would have asking for trouble, and, even if you blamed me as you should, I don't want you dead or to go up against you. If it comes to it though, I promise I'll side with Shadowstrike," she said, a stone, sorry, harder than stone, determination spreading through her. "Asgaurd is not our home any more, and it will never be ours to rule."

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY At her determined voice, which slightly reminded Loki of their father's, his ears went flat against his head. His pupils narrowed and he opened his mouth in a slightly surprised manner that resembled a small scowl. "I will never call this place my home," he said in a steely voice. All three of them had been stolen from their home, and he guessed if he went back, their rooms would look exactly the way they had. He wouldn't be surprised if all his family's things had become a museum, and cats looked at them going oh, all the kings desended from the first king are now dead.

Calista shook her head, her face remaining cold though hope sprouted within her. If she kept it up, he would be willing to support Thor, and allow Thor to support him, if only to get her to give. Not missing a beat, she said, "This doesn't have to be your home, but I sure hope you find one other than Asgaurd, because we're not going back there. Im not going back there. You always wanted dad's favor. Maybe now that he's dead you'll listen to his message. The kingdome is what matters, not our station. Returning will only hurt them."

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki shook his head and gave a nearly surprised glance at her. "How would it hurt them? They all know that Asgard is our home, and as I might not like who is leading it now, I would live under them as long as they let me stay where I belong." His green glare flared up as he tried to make a point. The arguements between Cali and Loki always seemed to be stuffed with facts and points, while Thor just yelled his mind.

"Yes, but no. The scripted laws written by the first king say that his desendents have the right to the throne over whomever is leading. If you go back you will lead, and that will cause change. In a peaceful era as there is, change will cause chaos."

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY "Of course cats will be unhappy in the beginning, but they never once thought either Thor or I as bad princes. Everyone thought Thor would be a strong king, and I woukd be there to help him keep his head. Cali, I don't understand why you don't want to return to Asgard, even undercover. We're all homesick, and we just want to see it once more."

"I don't see why you didn't get your fill growing up there. I don't see why you have to return. The fact if that the pain cause don't by trying isn't worth the unwitting damage the result brings."

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY Loki's ears perked straight up, but his face betrayed his ears. He scowled, and looked back down at Thor, who had moved. "We're leaving," he said suddenly. "Please use discretion when your messing with our brother. I don't think he deserves our battle. He knows he can fight it, but with strength not wit." He tone was calm and even.

Calista let the pain of the whole ordeal with Thor show through for just a moment before she shook her head, the emotion fading into a blank mask. "I don't mess with him. I'm trying to build up the courage to speak to him. Final judgement and all to see if I have to leave this home too." she said, then but her lip a smile she realized that she hadn't told Loki about her little thing that she wouldn't acctually be fighting with Thor, but leaving all together if he didn't want her around.
