(oh, I probably should have posted here... can I still do that? oof, vacation with literally no wifi struggles)
Tinykit remembered stumbling out of the camp after her clanmates; everything a blur, a jumble. Panic had spread like a wildfire, burning throughout all members of the camp. Elders, queens, kits, warriors... the apprentices. Two of them were... she winced, forcing the thought out of her mind once it presented itself. They were probably fine.. right?
She remembered pain searing through her left hind leg as the shards of ice came spilling down the mountain. An avalanche is what they'd called it. Moving forward now, she realized the pain wasn't something she had imagined in the moment. Hissing through her teeth, she turned to inspect her small limb now. She tried to move it but found herself unsuccessful. She lifted her small frame from the cold, unwelcoming floor and started to look for a medicine cat.
"Help, someone? My leg feels funny -- I mean, it's not funny, as it's actually incredibly painful beyond imagination, buuut, yeah. Help?"

MAPLEFROST OF ICECLAN With Windflurry safely out of the elders' den wreckage, Maplefrost followed her through the territory. Eventually they reached the area where the rest of the Clan was gathering, on the other side of a Thunderpath that had never seemed to exist before. Maplefrost wondered about that, but there were bigger things to focus on at the moment. He located Robinstar by scent and approached the leader. "We can't stay here," the blind calico elder murmured. "Our camp is destroyed and the territory is too dangerous. There are many injuries; we need to find a place to settle temporarily so we can heal. But where will we go?"WORDS: 107 || WRITTEN FOR: IceClan NOTES - n/a template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

(dramatic post is dramatic. and oh, yeah, this is late... whoops)
Dappledleaf padded through the small makeshift camp they'd set up. Everything felt... distant. Her ears were ringing from the force of the avalanche crashing down upon the clan like the monster it was. The bird attack with Robinstar and now this...
Moving lazily throughout the camp, her eyes began to flit frantically from kit to kit, cat to cat... anything she could see or smell. Cats -- apprentices, were missing. She lifted her numb nose to scent the air for anything, anyone. Badgerpaw and Cheetahpaw were missing. Panic and realization began to dawn upon her and soon enough, denial began to sink in. They couldn't be... no. No, they weren't... gone.
"Has anyone seen Cheetahpaw and Badgerpaw?" she asked, looking at cats, anyone, anything for an answer. She'd never lost a kit, a daughter, a son, a girl, a boy... She'd never lost anyone. She could hear Maplefrost and Robinstar talking, but they were so distant... "Does anyone know? Please? I need an answer, closure... anything." Oh CloudClan, please...

(Sorry short) Rivershade, turned away from her post and scanned the others. She spotted a queen looking more than distraught. Rivers ears went back pinning to her skull as the words left the other she cats mouth. River went to her side, not wanting to be the one to deliver this kind of news but knew it was the best if not only way. "Dappledleaf, they are..." she felt her throat go dry as she searched for the best select of words. However for this.. there were non. She shook her head murmuring "I'm so sorry" she moved to press against the other queen. River she self could not comprehend how painful this moment was and only hoped that her presence would help.

As soon as Rivershade approached her, she knew. Her mood was suddenly sullen and she noticed the she-cat's ears pressed against her skull. She nuzzled her face in the she-cat's fur, and cried silently, her body shaking violently as she did so. She hadn't cried in a while and while it was relieving... she had to be strong, especially as a mother, a warrior and a queen to her clan. At least now she had closure.
"Thank you... for telling me," she mewed quietly before clearing her throat again. "I have to be going now... I should tend to some cats and do what I can to help around." She smiled lightly at the she-cat before nodding her head in appreciation and walking around to see who she could help out.

She stood firm and allowed the fellow queen to cry and or mourn over the fallen. She too felt sarrow they were so young. She could only nod as Dapple thanked her. Actually thanked her, her heart broke to hear it. She too turned but not before speaking softly "They've all gone through a lot, but so have you." she paused "They should be at your side, not the other way around." She then parted her ways knowing it would be best for the female to distract her self in the service of her clan mates regardless of her suffering state. May cloud clan be with you.

"I don't know," Eveningkit blinked at the apprentice, her mother's son, stunned at his response. Surely he must know? She was too tired, too cold, too young, to wonder. She fluffed up her spiky, dark fur against the frigid winds, her misgivings and the tips of her fur shadowing her gaze. Delicate-looking snowflakes settled on her equally fragile-looking eyelashes, and she twitched the tip of her tail. "Mamma when is this all over?" The small female shivered and met the she-kitten's gaze. "I don't know," she echoed, her voice emotionless and something like certainty clearing her pale blue eyes. "We'll be okay with Mama." She gazed up calmly at Rowansky. "Won't we?"

Snap-paw heaved a sigh, already feeling comforted by the presence of his clan-mates. "Thank you. Both of you." He cast his gaze meaningfully between Rookpaw and Darkpool, not even having the urge to feel shamed that a small kit was the one comforting him in this terrifying situation. Snap had always been soft and sensitive like that. "He's a tortoiseshell with gold eyes." Snap responded immediately, shifting his pale eyes between the two. "I would have thought he'd be with fath...with Robinstar, but I couldn't see him."
His expression darkened, worry and annoyance that his brother could be so irresponsible coursing through him. "If you find him before I do, give him a kick up the rear for causing so much trouble."

{ } Thornfrost trudged to the head of the pack, Badgerpaw's body still slung over his shoulders. Spotting Robinstar and @maplefrost, he pushed his way to them. Now wasn't exactly the time to deliver sad news, but he figured he could help. Catching the tail-end of Maplefrost's comment, he grunted in agreement. "This soon out of leaf-bare, no other clan would be able to support us...Or even want to." He turned his scarred head, good eye surveying the clan behind them. So many young and injured; it was clear they wouldn't be able to go far. "If we need to leave Iceclan, then loner territory should be our destination. There are too many of us for any solitary cat to challenge, and hopefully a space large enough to sustain us for a time." He'd give his opinion, but ultimately it was Robinstar's decision, so he waited for his leader to ponder the situation. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Mothkit was shivering from the cold. The young kitten looked at her sister and mother. The calico waited for Rowansky to answer Eveningkit's question.

Rowansky looked on her small daughter and tried to banish the sadness weighing her down. She opened her mouth to respond to her question—where's home? The tabby glanced over the thunderpath. RiverPaw answered for her. "We'll find home, Eveningkit. Right now.. well, Cloudclan wants us to go somewhere else. As long as we stick together with the clan, we'll find home." She ushered Mothkit near her as well. "You're safe with me, of course. I'll always protect you," she said, voice steady.

For the first time in Moonpaws life, she was feeling true fear. The she-cat stared at the dead apprentice on the thunderpath with wide eyes and slowly padded over to her mother, Rowansky, and a few of her half-siblings. "Everyone please calm down. We are all safe with the clan and Rowansky." She meowed, a hint of doubt in her voice, as she padded to her mothers side.

Tinykit looked up from where she'd been sat by another cat; an apprentice. Once the apprentice had wandered off, she scampered away, moving as fast as her tiny paws could take her. It wasn't difficult maneuvering her way through the crowd of cats, as she was quite small in comparison to kits, making her almost unnoticeable among larger cats. Her eyes shifted between cats; the leader, maplefrost and thornfrost. Her mother and Rowansky... everyone, all a jumbled mess.
Her tiny paws stopped instinctively once her nose was met by the foul stench that the thunderpath emitted. She'd expected fear, but the only thing she felt was sorrow and regret. As her eyes wandered along the path, she spotted a small, limp form. Bile rose in her throat. Was that... Cheetahpaw? She started to nudge cats, apprentices... anyone.
"Are we going to give them a proper burial? Hello? Anyone?"
Her eyes were a big, blank and looming space of nothing; devoid of emotion or feeling. She could feel, though, yet it was as if it was... locked away. She didn't care what Cheetahpaw looked like; mangled body or not, she deserved a proper burial before... before another monster would hurt her. She'd heard of Badgerpaw's death as well... he was all the way in the territory covered in snow.
"Are Badgerpaw and Cheetahpaw going to get a burial?" she asked louder, this time, looking desperately between cats for an answer.

tag here | ◀ | nothing burns like cold ❤ Quillfoot had been hovering near the back of the crowd, glancing back at the thunderpath they had already crossed. He couldn' seem to stop looking at the young apprentice, regret tingling his pelt. He knew well enough the meaning of sacrifice, having lived with his own mangled body for over a season, but there was a large difference between mangled and dead.
His attention was caught by the questions of a kit, and a sad smile appeared as he neared her. "Thornfrost carries Badgerpaw," he murmured, pointing out the old tabby in the hopes it would console Tinykit a measure. One apprentice was better than none. "Would you risk more clanmates dying for the sake of a single dead one?" It was perhaps a cruel question to ask of a kit, particularly because her questions had already decided for Quillfoot that he would be going back for Cheetahpaw. It was still logical though, and the probable reason as to why no one else had claimed her body. The Thunderpath was too dangerous, and there were many more dangers to face before safety. Dragging two dead bodies around was unrealistic.
With a soft sigh he turned and braced his paws against the thunderpath, quickly checking for any approaching monsters. The right side of his body tingled with apprehension and he shivered. Without letting himself thinking his way out of the situation, he darted forward, long Fireclan legs eating up the rough ground. Quill dug in his paws and skidded when he reached Cheetahpaw, circling around her body before he grabbed it. Thanking the spirits that she was small, he quickly slung her over his shoulders before pelting back to the clan. He didn't dare breathe until his paws were back on grass, and he was pretty sure he'd scraped them on the rough surface at least once. At least he had Cheetahpaw though.
"Come along, we need to move along," Quillfoot murmured, approaching @avalanche again.
